This was the ship that took me to Colonia via Sagittarius A* because I took an extreme long distance passenger mission without fully realizing how far it really was, wonderful little accidental exploration ship.
This is where i landed for a "fancy bubble bus" and i grow more fond of it every time i use it. Its been out in the black a little too! Love being able to scoop and fsd charge simultaneously
The Dolphin is NOT a luxury liner… It is a Luxury RV. It is a Private Party Bus. It is a Mobile Vacation Home. It is a Sanctuary Among The Stars. Those rich buggers (other than myself, thank you very much) will never set foot in my deep space swimming marvel. I have other ships. I have bigger ships. I have a fleet carrier… None of them is “home” like this smooth riding, cold running, nimble footed wonder. And I maintain that it is an exploration vessel. (Even if it’s just your own soul that you explore within it.)
The Dolphin is one of the best explorers in ED. Also probably the best planetary raw materials collector and the best for exobiology and for courrier as well. Best sound in ED too. A great individual "car" to adventure into the unkown of the Milky Way. No overheat, very fast, long jump etc. Also the second best capacity for trading among the small ships, with 88ton, or so. It was my best starting ship, and after years, I still use it a lot, really a lot. Nice review.
Glad you enjoyed it - right now I'm preferring the DBS for exobiology, but that's probably because I've spent a lot of time in it recently doing just that. There's quite a few similar characteristics between the two ships though (IMO) - both have decent range, both run cool and both can be made quick enough to get out of trouble. Certainly didn't have any trouble running from the 'goids in either ship at least.
My favourite ship in the galaxy, thank you for the fitting review. A small but capable deep space explorer with all the stuff you need and a smooth experience with jumping, scooping and very good at exobiology. I see you out in the black, while I do exploration in style :D
I saw D2EA's video about his Bubble Bus and decided to get one. Did I folow his build? Not even close. 😂 Mine is named Rescue Ranger One, and is kitted for assorted bubble activities. She has two multi limit controllers so she can collect materials, repair ships or refuel ships. Fuel scoop, planetary surface scanner, srv bay, cargo rack, advanced docking computer, FSD Flight Assist, and all the engineering (mostly for lighter components and jump range). Her last addition was a couple of dumb fire missile racks to take out NPC outlaws and skimmers around ground targets. Without an FSD booster I get about 45LY jump range loaded. Great ship for farming mats in space or on the ground. Also a fun little ship when flying around to trade materials or pick up missions. When really bored, I'll scan for diatress calls and answer them in this ship. Hence the name.
The Dolphin is by far one of the best ships in Elite Dangerous. She's small and inexpensive. But she has an impressive jump range. And her small size gives her almost an immunity to heat. She can stand in the photosphere of a star while fuel scooping while most of the bigger ships like the Asp, the Diamondback etc. couldn't even get that close to a star without taking massive heat damage. Her small size gives her the speed she needs to outrun gankers. Although equipped with two pulse lasers, she's got next to no armor and won't stand up to much punishment in a fight (even as thick as her shields are). But what she lacks in armor and firepower, she more than makes up for with her small size and speed.
Besides being the best Bubble bus and small explorer, this ship works great for Guardian sites. The utility slots on the back are perfect for point defense for shooting down sentry missiles. The footprint is tiny, allowing you to land even in the most mountainous terrain. And there's just the right amount of room underneath to get your SRV in and out.
This is my new favorite small ship for sure, especially for Exobiology and deep space exploration. Taking it on my first trip to Colonia but stopping to make footfall on some planets. Very screenshot-worthy ship. I call it the Narwhal Space Tour.
I took a jump on a Dolphin, absolutely wonderful! Its a seriously good explorer. I traded her up for my Asp Explorer and honestly I want to go back. Shes just too good of a build. Truly a Mercedes W202 of the space ship world. Flashy enough, comfortable enough and reliable enough that it just is wonderful. Its definitely not a sprinter. Its definitely not a EQS or a S class like a Orca. But its definitely worth the cosr
I don't know chap. I see a double decker coach. Much respect on splashing a Vulture in that. I do have one (based on D2E@s build for landing on planets). But I have not used it for a while as I have bastardised D2E@s build for an exploration Courier for the same job and it's hot snot off a shovel. I just throw it at the ground when hunting Stratum and it generally sticks.
But it's a luxury, liner-esque double decker coach, right? 😉 To be fair it was only a novice Vulture, so it wasn't too much trouble keeping up with it - I suspect that build would struggle against something a bit more skilled, or a human. Although I was surprised how well the shields held up on the various combat runs with it - especially given they had next to no engineering applied
@@gamingsnipsandbits Well you live and learn. It turns out that the Asp Scout is not the worst ship in the game. It is just right for High Grade Emissions. Nothing else mind, but for that one task, it's the very best.

Now there goes a smart fellow.
Love my Dolphin. It's my general runabout. I'm not into min-maxing, so my range is generally in the 55-60 ly range.
Aye, that's what I like about it - without going full min-max it's still pretty easy to get a decent range out of the Dolphin 🙂

Congrats, you turned the VIP van into a technical. 🧐

amazing way to review a ship!! subbed! you really got me into it!

You could argue it’s also good for trading, as it has the largest cargo capacity of any ‘small’ classed ship.
Too bad there's not small pad limit. Really would make the game more interesting.

Love this. I call my exploring dolphin, deep flipper. I can see the same on the one in video 😂
Really hard to find anything wrong with that little boat.
I use mine as a super cool bubble taxi.

@@Cohen.the.Worrier Correct. I am triple Elite, plus a handful of stars.

I'd fly mine more, but can't stand that boost sound. Sounds like people screaming in terror on a water park ride gone wrong
That's exactly what it sound like, but I love it. 🧐
