Cute calendar but my cats don't approve.😊 I live in California USA. Jaime was still comfortable at 44 degrees F. I can't imagine how cold it is there now. Bundle up with a knit hat and snuggle with Key for warmth.
"Dog help us!!" Lord K'eyush was bleating After weirdo proclaimed there's no heating. Then the great waffle thief sighed a sigh of relief "I thought you said there is no eating!!"
During the reign of my first Norwegian Elkhound, Grey, we had the 1993 "STORM OF THE CENTURY" blizzard with fifty-mile per hour wind, -5C temperature, over a foot and a half of snow at my house in Atlanta. The Buick was buried. I didn't have a stitch of dry winter clothes in the house and had to go out in my Dodge Omni to find a working coin laundry. Lucky the electric grid was only off for about twelve seconds. All during this chaos, Grey was barking at the thundersnow (she loved to bark at storms) and pawing at the door to go outside. I opened it, she stuck her nose out for about three seconds, turned away from the door and hopped onto the sofa joining my Mom under the blankets. Just because a dog is equipped for -40 temperatures doesn't mean they have to like it.
@@5610winston In addition to cold weather dogs loving cold weather, and not panting and feeling miserable, they also like dog caves, like behind her couch where Keyush likes to go and does. Want a happy dog? Understand what makes them happy. I am just telling you and she what you both do not seem to understand.
Yep, time for the nuggles. I went cold camping a few weeks ago, primitive site in my camper, didn't have power so no heat just my sleeping bag and 20lbs of Welsh terrier heating inferno. The thermostat is kicking a foot or leg out from under the covers when it gets too hot
To prevent pipes from freezing let the taps open a little so water runs just enough to keep it moving. Know where the main water shut off is in case a pipe bursts. 🌟🙏
It gets so cold here sometimes in Chicago that we are advised to run the taps even though we have heat. We usually get this this advice from the weather man. It's much appreciated because a few times we actually needed it . I'm hoping things get better there soon for you, nan and key .
I don't know for sure, and if I'm wrong, Jodie, please correct me, but I believe the two degree reference was a Celsius measure, about 35 Fahrenheit, uncomfortable and potentially dangerous if you don't have shelter and warm clothing and blankets, but no danger of the pipes freezing. When the power goes off here, I light a couple of yahrtzeit (26-hour votives) in the bathroom over the bathtub with about three inches of water, placed so that if the candle falls it will land in the water and quench.
Hi Jodie, Key and Nan. I bought a couple of Key's 2025 calendars, for myself and a friend. (Actually it's for my apartment building's office, because everyone loves seeing his cute photos when they're in the office.) ❤😊
Thank you so much Brian, I've got your order and will be getting it ready to post soon! I have free christmas holographic stickers that go in every order now too :)
Here in Dallas, and i remember a couple of years ago when the grid went down, no heat and temps below zero F. Went on for days. Stay warm any way you can, and i hope it's fixed soon.
I only read the good & bad news and clicked. I thought this was about his vets testing. Not complaining, just got nervous, I watch every video. Love the content ❤ 👍😈👍
Oh no Jodie, 🥶these things have a knack of happening at the worst possible times. I hope your heating is fixed soon. By the way, I don’t know if I just speak for myself but a full screen of Key fluff is lovely! Like giving him a hug!
Sorry to hear of your troubles. Hope it gets better for you and your mom very soon! Key will be happy/fine as long as he has you and his nan~ Thx for sharing!
Hope your heating is back to normal soon! Our thermostat failed last May during a major solar storm. Replaced the batteries, reprogramed it, and that lasted about a day, so we just switched it off for the summer. It was replaced when we had our furnace serviced in September. We broke out our heavy weight duvet yesterday as our overnight lows are in the -10C range and heading for closer to -20C (Calgary / Canada)
You're lucky - ours went down at the start of Christmas holidays last year. Called EVERY plumbing & heating firm in town. Finally found one that could come in - all of the other companies were closed already. Turns out that a solar flare/ CME/ coronal mass ejection had likely blown the old thermostat when that energy arrived at Earth. The same thing had happened to multiple households where we live, so that furnace technician had had a VERY busy day. Wishing Jodi, Nan and K'ey a QUICK return to heat. Ours happened just as the temps went to -20 + C... BRRRR!!
This is actually part of why I prefer the cold. I can add layer after layer if I need to. When it's too hot, I can only remove so much before it becomes a felony.
When I was a kid we had an oil furnace for heat -- and we had a couple winters where it got cold enough for the oil to turn to gel in the tank. We had glass soda bottles freeze and shatter in the laundry room, and had to break ice off the dogs' water dish in the kitchen!
Cuddle close with your furry boy! And have 2 clothing layers on the bottom and 3 on the top. You might need to wear your coat in the house. I went through 3 1/2 days of no heat during an ice storm with temp around 0 to 5 Fahrenheit outside, approx. 35 to 38 F inside. Not fun but layering made it bearable. Sleeping in the layers with blankets was cozy. Good luck and I hope your thermostat is replaced soon!
That's horrible hopefully it's a easy fix 🤞.Key is going to have to keep you and Nan warm but he's missing fur .best of luck getting heat fixed .keep warm and safe ❤
Aww! Jodie my dear! You and you're mum are just going to have to snuggle up with Key! I'm sure that he won't mind!😀😂 Have a great "rest of the week!" All of you! Love and best wishes Terry xx 😀✌🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Jodie, just for in the future, always make sure you have a standard phone line, which isn't powered. Phone lines have their own power supply different to the national grid, so even if the power goes off, a corded landline will probably still work.
The problem is a lot of telecom companies are moving over to VOIP which needs your router to work and be connected. If you are vulnerable, you can request a battery powered phone as a back up. It uses NMH batteries which suffer from the memory effect and it connects via the 2G mobile network, which the teleom companies are dismantling. It doesn't matter if it's useless in reality because, the telecom company *did* supply a back up phone. I used to care for a relative and this is what we were given.
@ptonpc You are right, it is absolutely how things are going, however, you can still use a corded landline to plug into the phone line/router line, and during a power cut, it's likely you will still get a dial tone sort of confirmation that you are connected. It is known, industry wide, about vulnerable people, and while yes there's some what of an attitude of "they'll die soon anyway so we don't need to change anything", myself and others campaigners and charities etc, we are working to make sure that vulnerable people still have access to a working line, during things like power cuts etc.
If you have a dryer, you can warm up blankets. Make a fire in the fireplace. You can tuck towels under doors, and run hot showers to warm yourself and the room up, that can also preserve heat/heat the room up. Sorry to hear that. We live in the desert part of America and one summer our AC broke… it was the first time I wanted to live at my high school.
Thermostats are easy and affordable to replace. I hope you get one very soon. It would also be wise to keep so modern space heaters around for an emergency like. Or maybe stay with someone until you can get heat at you home again.

Time to jump in the car and stay with someone who has heat! We haven't turned ours on yet. It's currently 42 F and will be 24 C today. So, fairly chilly, but not cold. Gonna take Calli to the vet today. She's sneezy and itching. Gonna throw a blanket over the carrier to keep her warm. Sorry your thermostat is broken! One of my Dad's jobs was in Heating and A/C Repair. Too bad he's not around to fix it for you. Odd that a plumber can. Love and hugs! xo
I just came off a nearly 48 hour power cut after the island got hit with a huge windstorm and the entire island lost power. I was missing my fluffy friend!!! ❤❤❤ Key was born for cold weather!!
From someone living in a country which has suffered through 15+ years of rolling power blackouts almost daily, sometimes the massive power surge (when it comes back on) can blow thermostats, fridges, computers, etc. Just for future reference, switch your heating off at the mains when there’s a power outage and switch it back on once the power is back.
You have my sympathy, my boiler broke a few years ago right in the middle of the xmas cold snap and it was lower than 0% here for a long time, what a nightmare!
I loved that turn away and ...jumpscare with a Boo was what I thought was funny! I guessed when you said the good news, @1.36, Key, "Try harder!" 😂 Also Key, " Try not to look too happ happ, concentrate Key. Bad for hoomans but I wear my blanket all over! 😍🥰😍😘😘😘💕💞💗🫂🫂🫂👋🐾👍👏🐺
Loving suggestion. Nan keep your feet extra warm, with shoes on around the home not just slippers. Elderly feet cannot tell temp sometime then get damaged. Keep them warm. Next, Key and Boo have been in cold before. But he may need a dry coat rub when coming back inside and check his feet for 'ice cuts' little cuts that happen during dog walks ect.
Can you go to the store and pick up a space heater? I don't know if you have those in the UK or not. If not, you will just have to cuddle with Key! Warm thoughts!

At least you'll have +2 degrees to keep things from freezing. 😀❤👍
Can you go to the store and pick up a space heater? I don't know if you have those in the UK or not. If not, you will just have to cuddle with Key! Warm thoughts!
Key is such a beautiful dog!
Sounds like a good time to snuggle with key❤😊
Sorry for your heating issues and key's issues. Dame issue.. different reaction. Love you guys.
Key have that cute look on his face love that look Jodie
