I remember this when you introduced us to Tabby and Toby as a special baby that doesn't forget his mom when he gets special treats and return to her with the treat. That to me is definitely exceptional since most Macaque monkeys are not always willing to share like Tina with her babies Tiny and Teeny. In fact, Tina steals "food out of the baby mouths?" That is shocking. I don't see that too often so it pleased me when Toby cared enough to return to mom with treats!
Toby is such a good boy, Tabby has been a great mother. We categorize newborns temperaments (1) easy, which is a baby who is easy to soothe, only cries for a reason, eats good, sleeps good, (2) slow to warm, the quiet baby who doesn't protest much, quiet, may appear to be in their own world (3) difficult, one who cries easy, protests alot, hard to soothe. This temperament is for life. Tizzy has been a difficult baby, she was a protester as a newborn. Of course I don't know if monkey temperaments are the same as humans, but they appear to be. I remember Aggys' kidnappings and ear biting episodes. Now that Aggy has Lily and Poppy she really has settled in to motherhood with a softer side. ;)

papinbala , I am an old lady ,I been watching this kid for years and his work has as improved so much . I enjoy the monkeys been watching them grow since dopey was born .His work is landscapes phototherapy so going from things standing still to movement is not an easy task but as you can see he has master both. So if an old lady can not praise somebody work after so many years with out a Rude comment I can only hope when you improve in something some one does the same for you and not knock the person doing it.

Loved the voice over! Loved loved loved it! Beautiful (as always).and incredibly sad. But it does answer the questions of what happened to our babies. And such sweet facts about Toby! I vividly remember the discussions we had back then wondering if the baby’s Mum was nearby (because the baby HAD to be getting fed), wondering which Monkey it was (and I kept watching Granny stroking his cheek... it seemed so “human”). Anyway.... sorry for long comment. LOL I just love your investigator videos... it usually means you have answers! LOL Thanks so much Arroz. I hope you use the voice over again. I have new found respect for Tabby and Toby, I have just NEVER seen a baby hold on to food to share with it's mother before and Tabby losing a baby before, then having Toby kidnapped by Aggy; Tabby must have been so anxious! This is the first time that I’ve heard your voice, thank you. I know it’s not important to have audible cometary with each of your videos I just find it just a bit better when I can place a voice with a name. Every time I watch, I fall in love with everything, good or bad, and I find that I learn new things about tribes, and weaning, and social structure....I may dabble with other videos, but as soon as I see you name, I make a bee line back to you and your fuzzy friends 🐒
Great video and so good to hear a voice. I was struck by how Granny wanted to snatch that baby away from Aggie. Clearly she knew that baby belonged with Tabby and did everything she could besides grabbing the baby, to get it back. Toby is a good son. I can't believe we are getting four tonight. Best part about Wednesday's.
It was a blessing for the cold snap to thin the population a tiny bit. It would have been better for a longer colder winter, possibly a few in a row to ease up the over population problems

I wonder if the difference in behavior could be due to different genes; perhaps Toby and Tizzy have different fathers? Low ranking females usually hang out away from the center of the group/gatherings (else they get scolded by higher ranked monkeys or the alpha female). And if they're near the edge of the group, there's a much higher chance they encounter bachelor males looking to hook up with low ranking females. This is precisely why bachelor males hang out near the outskirts of troops and slink around.

Arroz..I've been watching your CSI videos about the abuse and cruelty to the monkeys in Cambodia. First off, I feel so stupid for having fallen for these videos and getting hooked on the supposed "accidents " these monkey families were experiencing. These VO are slime and mostly what I want to ask is what can I do to help end this whole thing and make RUclips stop them cold? I don't have a blog...don't even know how to set one up, to bring awareness to the problem. Let me know...I want to help.
Nice that the rhesus kidnappers are at least somewhat gentle with the babies instead of dragging them around by the tail and stepping on their heads like the LTM kidnappers.

Sad & Heartbreaking for all the lost babies. The loss of the being that you loved w/all your heart...You literally almost gave up your own life to give birth to this little, sweet creature that's now gone. A mother's love is patient & forgiving when all others are forsaking, it never fails or falters, even though the heart is breaking. No baby is poor who has a Godly mother. Every life is precious, animals more so than humans. They are the innocent ones as they cannot speak to us & doesn't mean we should kill them or they should die. They also have family like us.
Just curious if you have been able to decipher the body language such as when Granny stuck her arse in Aggy's face. Viewing it with human eyes it seems like a very rude thing to do but it seems to be a rather more amenable thing to do between monkeys. It seems to me that they are saying "Hi, how are you?" Or some corny pick up line.
At 10:46 in that thumbnail picture you had written that Toby was 4 months old but he looked to be a few weeks old, are you sure that you didnt mean to put Toby's age at 4 weeks old!? Its like if Toby was 4 months old in that pic he would be a lot bigger.

Well, this video made me cry for all the mums who lost their babies due to the freeze. With global warming there will be more and more freak weather patterns happening, like radical temperature changes and more frequent hurricanes, such as we're seeing in the Southeastern USA. I'm surprised more babies and elderly monkeys don't disappear during the typhoons there.

I really don't think these moms decide they are going to "skip a year" as you say it, they don't choose when they want to have a baby, I dont think they even know that having sex produces a baby, they aren't that smart. They base there lives on instincts everything about there lives is instinctual. You really want to suggest that Tina didn't have a baby this year because she thought, "oh maybe this isn't a good year to have another baby, I still got Teeny and she is a little underdeveloped and maybe I just shouldnt". Do you really think thats what happens when a female monkey doesn't give birth one year? Come on!

They have a choice, in a properly functioning troop in the wild, a male has to go through a ritual to gain a female's permission to mate. This is the norm for rhesus. They aren't the dysfunctional descendants of abandoned pets like those in the non-forest troop of long tailed in Angkor.

in cambodia someone filmed a mom trying to kill her baby to wean it, the mom did abandon the baby. the long tails are the meanest

Sad & Heartbreaking for all the lost babies. The loss of the being that you loved w/all your heart...You literally almost gave up your own life to give birth to this little, sweet creature that's now gone. A mother's love is patient & forgiving when all others are forsaking, it never fails or falters, even though the heart is breaking. No baby is poor who has a Godly mother.
Every life is precious, animals more so than humans. They are the innocent ones as they cannot speak to us & doesn't mean we should kill them or they should die. They also have family like us.

Just curious if you have been able to decipher the body language such as when Granny stuck her arse in Aggy's face. Viewing it with human eyes it seems like a very rude thing to do but it seems to be a rather more amenable thing to do between monkeys. It seems to me that they are saying "Hi, how are you?" Or some corny pick up line.

At 10:46 in that thumbnail picture you had written that Toby was 4 months old but he looked to be a few weeks old, are you sure that you didnt mean to put Toby's age at 4 weeks old!? Its like if Toby was 4 months old in that pic he would be a lot bigger.

"Freak cold"? Hong Kong doesn't drop below freezing, ever. Hong Kong doesn't get cold enough to kill even a baby monkey unless they'd been abandoned for days on end. I'm afraid these babies are being kidnapped for pets. :(
2016 winter was the coldest in history. It plummeted down below freezing point in the mountains. Google winter 2016 and early 2017 and you will see.

Well, this video made me cry for all the mums who lost their babies due to the freeze. With global warming there will be more and more freak weather patterns happening, like radical temperature changes and more frequent hurricanes, such as we're seeing in the Southeastern USA. I'm surprised more babies and elderly monkeys don't disappear during the typhoons there.

I really don't think these moms decide they are going to "skip a year" as you say it, they don't choose when they want to have a baby, I dont think they even know that having sex produces a baby, they aren't that smart. They base there lives on instincts everything about there lives is instinctual. You really want to suggest that Tina didn't have a baby this year because she thought, "oh maybe this isn't a good year to have another baby, I still got Teeny and she is a little underdeveloped and maybe I just shouldnt". Do you really think thats what happens when a female monkey doesn't give birth one year? Come on!

They have a choice, in a properly functioning troop in the wild, a male has to go through a ritual to gain a female's permission to mate. This is the norm for rhesus. They aren't the dysfunctional descendants of abandoned pets like those in the non-forest troop of long tailed in Angkor.
