I purchased the SewQ for my Janome M7. One of my other machines has laser built in and I knew I would miss it. I just snowballed 160 small squares without having to make a single one, and it worked perfectly to keep me on the corner diagonal.
Just bought Janome 9450....wow, it's like going from a VW to a Cadillac, now I need the laser. Thank you. I had bought a laser for my other machine and never got it to work.
This was really helpful. I had bought another brand of laser years ago and it didn’t have a good anchoring system so it drifted quite a bit so I don’t even use it. This looks like a good design. Thanks foe the review.
No, as I mentioned in the video, the only reason I have the room dark is so that you could see the laser light in the video. It works perfectly well with machine and room lights on.
Can you set this up for scant quarter inch seams. I have an m7, and do you have to set the laser up to highlight the edge of the seam or could it be done to use on the stitching line. I am also off to buy one so long as the shipping to nz doesn’t double the price.
While the guide sets it up for a quarter inch seam, you could adjust it just slightly to the left of that line for a scant quarter. Check the Description below the video for a link to get your Sew Q Laser. If you're concerned about shipping, check with them directly as they can provide information about that for you.
No but this is definitely something that you need to consider - and other areas - when installing it. As I mentioned in the video, I didn't really choose necessarily the "right" spot to place the laser as it was a demo so you need to watch their installation video for more details on where to put it. Don't forget that that side of the Janome 9450 also opens so you don't want to interfere with that area either. Check the Description below the video for a link if you would like to purchase the Sew Q Laser, Thanks!

Does room need to be dark to see laser line?

What foot are you using. I have the same machine but I don’t recognize your foot. Love your tutorial!
I'm using the HP foot and needle plate in this video - the one I usually use for ¼" seams.
Does the laser installation interfere with the pull-out light?

Is this only for the Janome?
Oh no, this product can be used with any sewing machine - vintage ones, new ones, whatever you may have where you can stick the holder 😉.
