Gold and Mercury Retort

Safely removing mercury from gold with heat instead of chemicals. This was a quick and easy retort build to clean up small amounts of gold that has some mercury on it. The goal is to separate the two materials for recovery of both the gold and merucry.

did you use pipe dope on your elbow connector? on the end cap for the mercury burning is it sealed with anything/

nevermind I see used graphite lubricant ty for the video. very helpful.

You’re welcome. The graphite will help keep the threads sealed up to keep any mercury in. It also makes it easier to take the cap back off to get the gold out.
