My buddy used to dig ditches with those nike slip ons. Until one day he put them to the shovel and they split in half. Also notice the dude barely broke a sweat.
That yard will bring you top dollar on the sale. Good luck. I’m in south Florida and it’s a whole different battle field down here. The weeds are never ending. They grow faster then the grass.
I core areated my lawn yesterday.. 10h and 350m2. Every 15-20cm and 10cm wide between the paths. My neighbors most think I am nuts. Man it was hard work, but it was satisfying somehow. Tomorrow it is time for topdress !
I have that corona as well, the best manual aerator I've had. I tried two other designs before and they were junk. Good timing on the video, renting a large aerator this morning to do my entire yard and 2 family members
I have a question I am going to level my yard with sand in about two weeks. I have probably 4500 ft.² total to do my yard is very uneven so I will probably need like 6 tons to do everything. My question is when a truck comes and dumps the sand and you fill it up and spread the sand. What happens when you go back to the pile and you still have further to push but that’s like 70 feet away? Meaning when you put sand back in it won’t the sand come out and it’s just going over where you were just going with the spreader to get to the other part of the yard. That doesn’t have the sand yet , thanks let me know
I would suggest over-seeding before you top dress. Let the seed fall into the holes before they get filled. You could even spread more seed over the top. I don’t think you can put down too much seed! Good luck selling your house. A great lawn and landscaping like you have will help you get top dollar! I have been full time in the real estate business for 36 years. I also have the best lawn in my neighborhood. .
... thanks for the slowdown to show us how your leveling rake works (how easy it is to drag). We've just gotten some heavy rainfalls last week (5-6"!!!!) being in the track of the aftermath of Ida. It's now like springtime and I can't keep ahead of the mowing (but the grass has rebounded beautifully!) 🙏👩🌾💚 =^..^= 🇺🇸 (OH! Today of all days make sure you fly your flag! Get yourself a black mourning bow to tie on the end [up at the top] to signify half-staff/half-mast!)
If you leave the cores out for 24 hours on a hot day, roll over them with a roller. They will crush into powder; then topdress after. It will blend in evenly. Just a thought. That is what I do.
Man you make it look so easy and simple! And I’m always amazed at how beautiful your lawn (and other RUclips pros) look! I wish... but of course here in damn California we’re always in a drought and get hefty fines for using too much water. Aye! Gotta move!😎
Always better when it’s wet. Also great video with tons of info, I’ve actually never heard the 1 cubic yard per 1000 sq’. Thanks. Good luck selling your beach front house 😜
Lmbo! At the in and out comment and your reaction. I'm excited because I've been in my house since 2016 and this is going to be my first time doing this kind of lawn care, ie Aeration, Dethatching, etc.
Good luck on listing your house. The manual core aerators are great for small projects and for hot spots on your lawn. I am putting down a layer of sand on top of my soil before laying my sod. I figured it would be easier to level and help with drainage :)
My buddy used to dig ditches with those nike slip ons, he was a hard worker kind of an animal. One day he put those sandals to the shovel and the split right in half.
The only manual aerator that has ever worked for me is the Landzie Hollow Tine core aerator. These that do not have hollow tines clog instantly for me even if I water. Like one single push and its clogged.
Are you telling me to do that or just saying in general? I mentioned that in the video. For this section though it would have been overkill and more money than it was worth
Hiya I just wanted to ask you my lovely mower people who are wonderful , and always do a great job , the only downfall is my OCD i think , after they leave a lawn mow and trimming during the winter months ,even if the grass isnt wet theres a splatter of tiny bits of mud all over the walls of the house , windows and back porch , I love the trimming done it looks great ! but hate having to hose the entire house down every time after they leave . Any tips or tricks ? I dont even think a blower would blow it off .
I'm doing a lawn renovation and I'm 10 days after germination. Can I blanket spray tenacity after 30 days? I put down the Scotts starter with mesotrione when I first planted the seed, but I have some weeds still coming through.
I have a pretty deep low spot from where the for sale sign used to be. I’d say several inches deep. Would I still use sand to level or rip out the grass, add a bunch of dirt and replant the grass?
I’m in northern Washington state. Did I miss my core aeration window? I have the manual one like this, similar size yard front and back just not sure I want to take it on when I could rent the machine.
Another great video, I also have a question, my soil test shows my phosphorus levels are very high so you think I need a starter fert in my over seed this weekend?
Great videos, thanks. I take issue with aerating every year, it’s not necessary. Does it help? Not really, may make you feel better, but it’s not necessary. Same rule applies for thatching. Some thatch is good and delivers nitrogen. Btw, I just purchased the Landzie, looking forward to using this spring!
@@TheLawnWhisperer some extra dirt I had laying around, and A shovel , the low spot is a super low spot (I think there might be an old tree stump or root under there)
Is it true that if you’re first starting out and basically trying to change/improve your soil type you don’t want to reuse the plugs? I’ve heard this and just curious.
Just my own way of thinking. This lawn honestly didn’t really need an overseed and would thicken up more this fall pushing it with fert but I put a light one down to get some new growth quicker for when we show this house
Let’s mention that he not only aerate manually but did it wearing sandal 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yep seen that also. Plus i am proud of him for not having bitch mittens on(gloves).
Great job going to try the sand myself..
Technically, those are slides, but your point remains.
no shoe deal yet.

@Sean M The only issue is the cleanup after
I level my lawn after seeing this video. I used over 2 tons of sand and I was able to spread it in 3 hours using the Landzie. Thank you sir!

Love that you saved the cores!!! not enough people talk about that. such a waste if you get rid of it lol.
I am glad to know it works on sand. I have a job to do. Leveling and this can help me spread evenly.
Good video!! You do it all, take care of the kids, the dog and work in the yard at the same time. Multi tasker.
I bet the neighbors think you're a nut job! 🤣 I'm religious as well in my lawn and landscaping and it's the best in the neighborhood 👌 😄
You should provide any and all outside listing pics!! I'd never trust an real estate agent to know how to place the sun properly for lawn pics ha ha!
True story... I provided a drone pic for my listing 😀
@@greghuizen a lot of houses are doing drone shots now.

Putting seed down in a 2-3” hole won’t yield great results
Cute baby! Enjoy it man, they grow shockingly faster than anyone could ever expect.
Great video I am impressed how the peat moss roller laid out that sand! Dang now I have to buy one of those?! Lol. the results look amazing!

Landzie always intrigues me. Great tool. Lawn looks great.
Good luck on the sell. Looking forward to the new place.
It’s looks oh so good!! I’m almost ready for seed. Just need to aerate and top dress.
Awe yeah!!!!!!
Woah! I never thought the landzie would be be great for sand but I’m sold! Gots to get me a landzie! Awesome video. Thank you!!

Exactly that’s what I do
Do you aerate in the spring or fall? I started my lawn last fall on less than ideal soil.
@@StuckinNOVA Spring. I have Bermuda though. Warm season. Aerate after dormancy when the grass is actively growing.
Great video as always Justin. Good luck on the listing bud. 👊🏼
that is the second funniest timelapse I've ever seen. first ever is someone jump roping but haha that's was great

The Landzie doesn’t work with dry sand so keep in mind the sand is wet! 🤗
Great step by step and thanks for the before and after shots. Great

Look at the shine on that truck.... 🤤
Things go smoother when it's wet... for sure

Gorgeous baby...congrats! Lovely lawn. Your advice is appreciated. Never heard of Landsey spreader. Will verify if they sell that here.
I enjoyed the information and plan to apply it to future lawn activities.

I have heard that once you topdress with sand you need to do that all of the time. Will you be informing the future home owners of this?
That aerator looks super easy when you speed up the footage.
😂 it honestly wasn’t bad! It’s work, but I kind of enjoyed it
I like to let the cores dry out and the sand tends to separate from the soil and then use the cores to fill in low spots.
That "after" pic was sick.
I have a love hate relationship with that aerator. The handles are great very comfy to use but clogging is always an issue.
Same. I keep a bucket of water near by to declog it (even with wet ground) with a toothbrush and then I WD40 the inside between uses.
Seed that grows in sand. I would’ve never thought that.
My buddy used to dig ditches with those nike slip ons, he was a hard worker kind of an animal. One day he put those sandals to the shovel and the split right in half.

When you were shopping around for bulk mason sand, were you looking for a particular size of grain?

@the lawn Whisperer where did you buy your leveling tool? Appreciate your videos and all the work that goes into them.
I've been cutting at 4.25 inches this year. My wife said the extra .25 really makes a difference 🤔

Tenacity is fine to use any time during the seeding process. It will not harm the grass seed or newly germinated grass.

Will spreading peat moss have a significant impact on soil Ph? I’m right at 6 right now and concerned about making it more acidic.
Just stumbled upon this as I prep my leveling. Where are you located? I'm down in Evansville. And boiler up ;)
Yup overseed your lawn with whatever weed seeds are in those plugs.
