  • READ DESCRIPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!
Episode of Filmation's 1981 Mighty Mouse series.
Unavailable on home video in any form.
In 1981 production began at Filmation on what was to become, in my opinion, the best Mighty Mouse show ever. I enjoy Bakshi's interpretation very much, but this is the one I grew up with y'know?

"I'm Pearl Pureheart. And I'm so lovely. I always get chased by Oil Can Harry."
    Pearl's lines are so rhythmical!

Oh yeah, I remember her. The animated Star Trek is one of my top Filmation faves.

Thanks for putting this up! This was my all time favorite New Adventures of Mighty Mouse short! Why was my favorite you ask? Well, at 6:00-6:02, the part where Pearl speeds out of the hole Mighty Mouse put in Harry's rocket and she lays one on him. Boy, I gotta say, Pearl can really lay one on Mighty Mouse! That's no lie. Thanks again!

and how about at the end of Gypsy Mouse when she gives one big kiss to Mighty Mouse and he's completely knocked out by it, gets dizzy and we can hear cuckoo birds in the distance? Then Pearl gives the audience a wink. I especially liked that. I like when cartoon characters wink at the audience or viewers, especially pretty female cartoon characters. I get the feeling they're winking at me and only me.

This period of animation while not illustrious, had to deal with all kinds of massive changes in technology, economics, demographic, and distribution, and it took awhile to adapt to those forces. This is only my second Filmation MM, but I find there is at least some wittiness in them, and they are short enough, especially skipping the intro, to make them enjoyable.

Tweeter and Woofer are very good characters, I don't know the origin of the line, but they are clearly precursors, and good precursors, of Hack & Slash, even R2D2 & C3P0. and so on.
Anyone know the origin of this kind of duo?

At 4:00 - Ha ha...Oil Can Harry...From a deep basso voice in the 40's to a rocker light voice in 1979. What do you think?

How could someone as tiny as Pearl Pureheart drive such a big van when her feet can't even touch the gas and brake pedals?

@Johnlindsey289 Yes, I remember the Bakshi one being on, yet I don't remember if I actually ever watched it. I feel like it was on during a show I was more into or something. I want to get it on DVD though. I want all these on DVD, ha. Funny thing about shows from this time, like this one and Fat Albert (wasn't it Filmation too?); I always thought the music, sound effects, voices, all the audio stuff sounded... weird, and not very pleasant either. As for Pearl, she's okay, but she's no Gadget.

Amusing cartoon I recall watching as a kid, but even back then my 8 year old self wonder how Pearl could drive a full sized van and be able to steer and reach the pedals, why didn’t Mighty Mouse just push the vehicle off the tracks rather than blasting holes in them, and how did the train not crash in a fiery wreck after hitting those said holes? Ah...animation dramatics!

Prelude to Seth MacFarlane; Lou Schiemer is doing ALL the voices!

Lou was a voice actor. That's true but not in this series. Alan Oppenheimer was Mighty Mouse and Oil Can Harry. Though studio cofounder Norm Prescott was part of the cast in the Quacula segment, along with Frank Welker who voiced said vampire duck plus Heckle and Jeckle.

Actually, it was Lou Scheimer who voiced Mighty Mouse. Here is a link to where I found this piece of information: animesuperhero.com/forums/threads/obscure-cartoon-spotlight-episode-6-quackula.5050751/

John, I wouldn't put it any other way. Like she says in the opening, Pearl Pureheart is so lovely! For a mouse anyway, and yes she's cute for one too. I remembered watching this on WGN in the mid-80's and then later on TV Land. I have alot of Filmation shows on DVD like He-Man and She-Ra. I have the complete series of those as well as Ghostbusters and Bravestarr. Thank you for the add!

In Swedish 2:30- 2:34 is " Stick härifrån innan jag byter ut er mot ett munspel" I remember that.

Pearl Pureheart was really smitten over Mighty Mouse in these filmation cartoons just as she was in the Mighty Mouse Terrytoons. Peal wasn't as smitten over Mighty in the Bakshi version.

1:01-1:04 wasn't this scene in Ralph Bakshi's MIGHTY MOUSE: THE NEW ADVENTURES 8 years later in CATASTOPHE CAT? Incidentally, John Kricfaulsi who would go on to create REN and STIMPY ten years later, worked on this cartoon series as well as on Bakshi' Animation's MIGHTY MOUSE THE NEW ADVENTURES (1987-89).

man, filmation shows repeated the same lifeless animation and annoying sound effects over and over again until kids' brains had turned to mush!
oh, and the music in this show is terrible and it just never stops!!
