Wow...what a blast. Watching this makes me realize how cutting edge this show was. I was a military brat living abroad, and some relatives sent us a videotape of Saturday morning cartoons that had this very episode on it...along with Garfield's new Saturday morning show "Garfield and Friends." I was in the 8th grade at the time, and when it came on--Pete Pate and what not--all I can remember thinking is, "What in the hell is THIS?!?" I knew Mighty Mouse from the original Terrytoon cartoons and the Filmation series from the beginning of the 80s, but THIS was a far cry from THOSE. In fact, it didn't look or sound like ANY cartoon on TV at the time. It was noisier, louder, faster, and raunchier than anything else out there. Remember, this was still the "Hanna-Barbera/Ruby-Spears 80s." Fast forward a year, and our AFRTS outlet started showing the series on Saturday mornings, and it became quite popular with us teenagers. Fast forward another few years, and I'm back in the States and Nickelodeon is promoting this new show called "Ren & Stimpy." Pretty soon, all the new cartoons started to look and sound like Mighty Mouse...which had been yanked off CBS, but popped up on FOX Kids very briefly. I was there to see it, all these years later, it's hard to believe this was in the 80s.
I was 5 when this show first aired 30 years ago and i dug it as i remembered the classic ones on TV the year before and i taped this show, one of my childhood fave shows.
But Cartoon Network could make some room for the classic cartoons like The Flintstones, the Jetsons, Tom & Jerry, Popeye, Scooby Doo, (not that I like that series), Rocky & Bullwinkle, the Powerpuff Girls, Gumby, Top Cat, George of the Jungle, Sylvester & Tweety, Yogi Bear, Underdog, Smurfs and of course LOONEY TUNES. They could make room in their time slots for those Do you like AQUA- TEEN?
i grew up watching this series i loved it since it was so silly and never took anything too seriously which is what you needed toon wise during that era
Yes she does and it's provided by Maggie Roswell who would later voice a few characters on The Simpsons. In fact, her Pearl Pureheart is pretty close to how she spoke for Helen Lovejoy.
Pearl Pureheart was so kind and sweet in this episode, she could also be known as Pearl Kindheart, Pearl Sweetheart, Pearl Gentleheart, Pearl Goodheart, Pearl Softheart, Pearl Lovingheart, Pearl Goldheart, Pearl Niceheart, or Pearl Trueheart. In some episodes of this series she could be not so nice and even ungrateful to Mighty Mouse at times when he rescued her. But she was decent for the most part and most certainly loved Scrappy as she demonstrated in this episode. She'd make a great mother for him and Mike or Mighty would make a great father too.
In MOUSE FROM ANOTHER HOUSE, Pearl has such a gentle and soft spoken voice and she offered to be Scrappy's friend when she overheard him not having a Mom and a Dad and feeling sorry for himself, justly so. Pearl Pureheart was so kind and sweet. A little ungrateful at times, especially towards Mighty Mouse for whom she wasn't as smitten over as she was in the Terrytoons' Mighty Mouses and the Filamtion cartoon versions of. but there's no doubt she loved Scrappy. She wasn't called Pearl Pureheart for nothing.
Dude ......I loved this show so much when I was a kid....I think I was 5 or 6? I cried when it got canceled. Later on, I would go on to be the biggest fan of both Ren & Stimpy (John K. is also a director on this) and Ralph Bakshi himself (who the baby sitters would sometimes let us watch lol)....didnt figure out he did this show until I bought a book abt him and his many works many years ago. Boy, did I sure know what I liked even at 5!
18:42-18:47 Pa Squirrel has Ma Squirrel's voice in this scene. But that's a very common error in cartoons; especially in Hanna-Barbera's YIPPEE, YAPPEE AND YAHOOEY from the 1960s.
At 7:38. The actor whos making that noise is John Kricfalusi... Why I think its him cuz I can picture Ren making the same noise. As well as his Voice at 15:25.
I automatically recognised the animation style as being similar to Ren and Stimpy, though it's got some of Bakshi's style in there too. This was probably the best version of Mighty Mouse, i just wish CBS had greenlit it for a third season...
When Pearl told Scrappy the story of Mighty Mouse's humble beginnings and the fact that that his adoptive parents Ma & Pa Squirrel named him Mike, did that mean she knew that Mighty Mouse's secret identity was Mike Mouse, her employee? I guess not.
Limited animation really came of age by the late 1980s and this cartoon is a perfect example of that. Especially the way the tears look when they stream down Scrappy's cheeks like a waterfall at 22:20-22:29 on to the curb and on Mike/Mighty Mouse's shoes. Notice how clear the tears look. Much better than those virtually lifeless Hanna-Barbera cartoons. In Hanna-Barbera cartoons when a ship is sailing in the sea or whatever you don't see what's at the bottom. You don't see fish or any other form of life.Another good example of that is the Great Grape Ape from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon show from the 1970s of the same name. Whenever the 40 ft Grape Ape cried it would cause a deluge of tears. But the tears looked like milk. You can't say that about Scrappy's tears in this cartoon. However, I do love Hanna-Barbera cartoons. After all, I was weaned on them as a kid. Am I the only one who notices this stuff? Does anybody know what I'm talking about?
Scrappy is lovable ain't he? i remembered when i saw the Jetsons movie in theaters at age 8 when i heard Teddy-2 spoke and when i was 9 when i saw Rover Dangerfield on video as when the human character Danny along with Rugrats the same year, Goof Troop's Max's voice when i was 10 when Goof Troop aired and Duckman when i was 12 on Charles's voice, i thought of Scrappy when they all spoke.
Scrappy seems to be the only mouse in this series who looks like a real mouse; he only wears pants. Though Blabber Mouse from Hanna-Barbera's SNOOPER & BLABBER series was heavily clad in a private eye hat and trench coat. Snooper and Blabber were cat and mouse detective team. In the old Mickey Mouse cartoons from the late 1920s and 30s he only wore pants and shoes.
13:15-13:18: "But in that case why so glum?" Why so glum? That's a dumb question. Scrappy has no parents, he's an orphan. That's why he's so glum. Nevertheless, it was very nice of Pearl to want to make friends with Scrappy and it worked.
I got Email from Diane Pershing, the voice of Pearl Pureheart in the NEW ADVENTURES OF MIGHTY MOUSE--1979-80 two months ago and I didn't know anything about it until a month ago. I hope you right back.
Jason Beales That wasn't Charlie Brown on the tv. It was Tom Terrific. Is Charlie Brown a Terrytoons character? And the word is "puppetry" not puppetly.
I always remember the episode with Old Man Weasel - I thought he was quite creepy! What was it the weasel said now? I seem to remember him telling off one of the characters.
To gnikochs in repsonse to your comment a year ago. This was not Mighty Mouse's second incarnation; it was his third. His second incarnation was the NEW ADVENTURERS OF MIGHTY MOUSE produced by Filmation and aired on on TV from 1979 to 1980. A Mighty Mouse movie was considered to be in the making, to be produced and released in theaters in 1994, but it never materialized. I hope you see my comment and respond to it.
+brian sedlock Ironically several artist (including John K) also work on the Filmation version. They probably also did The Tom and Jerry Comedy Show a year later. When Bakshi return to animation he hired them to be on his staff. They started with The Rolling Sones' Harlem Shuffle earlier that year before this.
+acholl980 I'm not completely sure but I think Roy Halee, the singing voice of Mighty Mouse during the 1940s and 50s worked for Rolling Stones during the 1960s and was a songwriter for Simon and Garfunkle. What's the Harlem Shuffle? BTW, I should've mentioned in my reply to your first response to my comment that it was good that somebody did respond to my comment, even if it was from a year ago. Thank you. I only wish gnikochs would've responded to my comment first because it was addressed to her. But at least someone replied.
+acholl980 The TOM AND JERRY COMEDY SHOW was anything but comedy. It was really bad. Did you know that John K. stayed with Bakshi animation for only one year when the they produced MIGHTY MOUSE THE NEW ADVENTURES 1987-88? But in season two he left the production. All the same the MM cartoons had elements of John K.'s twisted sense of humor despite the fact he left. The same went for his own creation THE REN AND STIMPY SHOW in 1991; he was there for only one season but then left. Still the show had elements of his twisted sense of humor and the show lasted for another 3 years. I heard he was he was difficult to deal with. Is that true?
+brian sedlock Pretty much. Nick exc's hated the humor he turned out and tossed him out midway in the 2nd season. Which is weird considering the potty stuff their doing now. In fairness John K. had problems with other companies. After MM he worked on a reboot of Bob Clampett's Beany and Cecil for ABC. The network hated it and it disappeared after 6 episodes. Same with The Ripping Friends on Fox. Also his attitude toward other artist beyond Clampett is extremely resentful as shown on the Looney Tunes box sets.
In this first part of the first episode of MIGHTY MOUSE THE NEW ADVENTURES, it wasn't the star of the show Mighty Mouse who first appeared; it was his girlfriend Pearl Pureheart.
Pearl, what in hell were you doing scuba diving with sharks when you should be at the Mouseville factory working? After all, you are the president of the factory which makes you the boss. You own the factory. You're supposed to set a good example to your employees and here you are scuba diving with sharks! And you call Mike Mouse whose really Mighty Mouse in disguise a slacker.
Up until my 40s I never realized how attractive Pearl Pureheart was. Man is she hot and sexy, especially in these Ralph Bakshi cartoon versions of Mighty Mouse. Boy what I missed out on as a kid.
Actually, I'd like to take that back. Pearl was at her least attractive in this Bakshi version of Mighty Mouse. There was an one episode called STILL OILY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS, episode 28 of part 14 of this series, infact, the next to first of the second season MMTNA in which there were three close ups of her face and she was real ugly and she had a really big nose. There were even some episodes in which Pearl acted like a real bitch towards Mike Mouse a.k.a. Mighty Mouse. She could be ugly inside and out. Actually, I'd like to take that back too. Pearl could be bitchy inside and out but not ugly. It makes one wonder why Pearl and Mighty stayed boyfriend & girlfriend. He should've dumped her, in more ways than one. Mighty should've had Krakatoa Katie from Terrytoons cartoon of the same name as his girlfriend; she was probably more pleasant than Pearl was at least in this series. But unfortunately she lived 14,000 miles away and she didn't talk in that episode. MOUSE FROM ANOTHER HOUSE was perhaps the only episode from this MM series in which Pearl Pureheart was at her most attractive, most pleasant and kindest. She was pretty inside and out in that episode.
Lol i remember how crazy these were and our parents didnt care.. then ren and stimpy and they started to care then i became a parent.. spongebob time haha
18:26-18:34 Pa Squirrel has his own voice. But at 18:42-18:47 Pa Squirrel has Ma Squirrel's voice. But at 18:50-18:55 Ma Squirrel has her own voice back again. But that is a common error in cartoons like Hanna-Barbera's YIPPEE, YAPPEE AND YAHOOEY in the 1960s.
I LOVED the old Terrytoons best, it's more my sensibility which prefers atmospheric (melo)dramatics based on horror/pulp/comics/etc to outright humor, even as hilarious as part one of this. The old Mightys were often witty, but seldom funny. But I am really glad Mighty had this 2nd animated incarnation. Mighty is a great character (I love the comic books too). I'd REALLY love to see a 3rd incarnation in a darker, more serious, anime style. Mighty would be a natural. He influenced AstroBoy alot
and thus, the doorway for "Ren & Stimpy" was revealed...

How was this cartoon raunchy?
What does AFRTS stand for?
I repeat, what is a an AFRTS?
Awesome preservation, colors are rockin'!
Wow, Petey Pate's level of insanity is on par with that of the Joker and Green Goblin combined!
Yup, Bakshi even worked on the second season of the 60's Mighty Mouse
@@Johnlindsey289 60's Mighty Mouse? Do you mean 1960's Mighty Mouse cartoons.
@@67nairb
There was some episodes produced in the early 60s
reminds me of early daffy duck!
Bakshi and Kricfalusi amazed us, didn't they?
Eli Copperman I
Only bakshi amazed us
NO! Kricfalusi amazed us!!!
this is the most 90's cartoon before the 90's even came
this is my all time fav cartoon.
Wow! Thank you for sharing this.I love mighty mouse!
this was a kind of peak of cartoonism. a favorite series

This has a similar animation style as Ren and Stimpy.
That's because one of the animators of this series was John Kricfalusi who went on to create REN AND STIMPY in the early 90s.
John K is a genius
wouldn't you like to work at the Mouseville Factory Works with the beautiful Pearl Pureheart as your boss? I know I would.
Johnlindsey289 no not really
He is a good animator
But yeah recently he has been in hot water
Look it up
And from what I heard he's a bit of a douche
you may be right ?!
Yo, I've been thinking about this cartoon forever, Thanks...
12:55-12:58 what a gentle soft spoken voice Pearl Pureheart has.
Yes she does and it's provided by Maggie Roswell who would later voice a few characters on The Simpsons. In fact, her Pearl Pureheart is pretty close to how she spoke for Helen Lovejoy.
Strange, I don't remember getting any email from you. Nevertheless, I'm very happy you replied.
Who's Helen Lovejoy?
brian sedlock One of Maggie Roswell's many characters on Simpsons.
Was she one of Marge Simpson's sisters?
brian sedlock Sadly, no. Marge, Patty and Selma were all and still are voiced by Julie Kavner.
6:36 Classic Kricfalusi expression right there.
Ralph Bakshi Forever!

Mighty Mouse is the Real Superman!?!?!
Like Mighty Mouse
Totally. He was one of the first pioneers of adult cartoons. Without him, we wouldn't have shows like South Park or (God forbid) Family Guy.
''Er, excuse me but I believe the narration is MY job, is it not!'' ''Well, not this time it isn't so just butt out, buster!'' Love that bit.
God, the first one was BRILIANT!! XD HAHAHAHAH amazing John K stuff!!
7:17-7:31 the scenery is very similar to PORKY IN WACKY LAND and DOUGH FOR THE DO DO directed by Bob Clampet when he worked at Warner Brothers.

Ralph Bakshi?! Hey I know him isn't he the one who made fritz the cat?
Pearl Pureheart makes Madonna....the 80s Madonna look like the Sea Hag on POPEYE.
this is so superman
What kind of a name Petey Pate?
Bruce Timm as in Justice League Bruce Timm worked on this show....cool.
Who did he do the voice of?
+brian sedlock Production work not acting.
OH.
He also did some Tiny Toons/Animaniacs/Freakazoid episodes and Batman The animated series and 90's Superman episodes
good for him?
to B-boy StuntZ she bites her tongue again at 19:19.
Scrappy's Orphan Pa 'n' Ma Squirrel Mouse!?!
I know.
Does anybody remember YIPPEE, YAPPEE AND YAHOOEY?
Pearl was especially pretty in part two of episode 1 of this series.
ok thanks, but do u have to BUY if you have to buy its okay but do you really have to BUY
MMTNA was completely different from the Terrytoons' MIGHTY MOUSE version.
More proud Family and Mighty Mouse
She bites her tongue at 13:44. Doesn't seem to hurt her. ahha
7:11 Where the madness begings!
Mersenne's favorite show XD
I LOVED the old Terrytoons best, it's more my sensibility which prefers atmospheric (melo)dramatics based on horror/pulp/comics/etc to outright humor, even as hilarious as part one of this. The old Mightys were often witty, but seldom funny. But I am really glad Mighty had this 2nd animated incarnation. Mighty is a great character (I love the comic books too).
I'd REALLY love to see a 3rd incarnation in a darker, more serious, anime style. Mighty would be a natural. He influenced AstroBoy alot
You mean you'd love to see a 4th incarnation of Mighty Mouse. The 2nd incarnation was Filamation's THE NEW ADVENTURES OF MIGHTY MOUSE-1979-80.
I hope that after our correspondence about Mighty Mouse on the THROWING THR BULL video ends we could continue on The UNCOOLBEAN list.
Is Petey Pate a weasel?
Baby Mighty Mouse is Cute.
8:23 the gray one had to fuck up the moment 🤦🏾♂️
you can make a show when mighty mouse sees his parents again and mighty mouse mom looks preety
Agree
not as pretty as Pearl Pureheart.
Notice the cat at 3:00 looks like a precursor to Stimpy.
E Rock the only thing it has in common is that it's red
