"In our last episode, We left Mighty Mouse at the old Beaver River Station. As you remember folks, He was locked in a desperate struggle with the villain. But on with the story. THEY'RE OFF!"
The early MM episodes were just Mighty appearing at climax to save the day. But having an archvillain Oil Can Harry, damsel Pearl Pureheart and hilarious opera singing dialogue really spiced up MIghty Mouse career.
I seem to recall they used to play Mighty Mouse on daytime TV, as part of Mighty Mouse and Friends every weekday afternoons syndicated on Washington, D.C. affiliate WDCA, then right after they would play Gummi Bears and then Ducktales on The Disney Afternoon, when I was Hyattsville, Maryland at that time in the early 90's (1990-1991).
Mighty Mouse needs to be released on DVD along with Heckle and Jeckle. However, if I recall, there is a quirl with ownership of who actually owns the copyrights.
Barry I. Grauman That's true; cartoons like this aren't supposed be taken seriously. But there would be alot of parental outcry that it would be too violent for television. Yet they don't seem to be complaing about BEAVIS AND BUTTHEAD or SOUTH PARK or JERRY SPRINGER.
I'll never give up Hope, he's my favorite radio comedienne -- even these old cartoons had a form of Easter eggs ... nod to Bob Hope ... I used to be so afraid that Pearl Pureheart would be harmed by Oil Can Harry LOLOL
I have a vague memory of the CBS in color logo and that voice over. It was kind of strange as a toddler seeing that, because color TV was supposed to be a big deal, but being so young, I was wondering if it mattered.
The very first of the Mighty Mouse "musical mellerdramas" (patterned after the ones the studio produced over a decade earlier, with a human version of "Oil Can Harry"), originally released in November 1947. Directed by Connie Rasinski, story by John Foster, music by Philip A. Scheib. Roy Halee is "Our Hero's" singing voice; Ken Schoen is "Oil Can Harry". The success of this led to similar ones over the next six years.......
I was going to say the same thing. There was a Heckle and Jekyll cartoon that did the same thing. I think it’s just there for effect and if there wasn’t an episode is the sequel of.
24LionHearts> In Norse mythology Fenris (or Fenrir) was the most fearsome monster (giant wolf) on earth. He was one real bad-ass. It was foretold that he would slay the top Norse god Odin in the Final Battle. No chains, no fetters, no band could hold this most fearsome monster. He had allowed them to bind him with the strongest chains and fetters in the world. He tore them all off. Wanted to prove his street cred he said. They tricked him into letting them bind him with a narrow simple silk ribbon band. It worked, he couldn't break it. It was magic. He would be bound up until the the great battle between good and evil. Maybe Oil Can Harry had a little magic in his rope :>)
chr1sj2008> If you're trapped in a corner with no escape, you can draw a door on the wall, go through it and reach back out to erase it and make a clean get away. The purser would of course run into the wall. I loved it!
Mighty Mouse could stop a train with a caboose and five boxcars in only a few seconds, but it takes him minutes to break ropes? What is this thing with Mighty Mouse and ropes? Why does he have so much difficulty with them?
The complete opening song, as heard under the original opening titles, is repeated from one of the earlier "Fanny Zilch" cartoons.... "And the villain still pursued her..... Yes, the villain still pursued her... After twenty long years on a hard, hard road, Oh, what anguish no one knowed...."
+iheartFrozen 102 I'd expect vultures and bats to be circling around his house with snakes slithering around and few skunks making their home there. After all, Harry was kind of a skunk.
It was Mighty Mouse at his best! This 1947 TerryToon "A FIGHT TO THE FINISH" had a fantastic ending that went like this... "Is our little heroine doomed to distruction in a sawmill? Will Mighty Mouse arrive in time? See the following episode, Next Week! STOP! Gosh, we can't wait until Next Week! Please show us what happens! Won't ya?" I love that cartoon.
5:23 Is our little heroine doomed to destruction in a sawmill? Will Mighty Mouse arrive in time? See the following episode, Next Week! STOP! Gosh, we can't wait until Next Week! Please show us what happens! Won't ya?
Oil Can Harry, didn't anyone ever to tell you that smoking cigarettes is hazardous to your health? Even if you smoke it with a cigarette holder? Look what happened to President Roosevelt in 1945 two years before this cartoon was made.
This is a great cartoon. I wish they'd bring Mighty Mouse, Heckle & Jeckle and all his other Terrytoons pals back to television. And that goes for the Filmation and Ralph Bakshi Mighty Mouses too. The last time I saw Mighty Mouse and other Terrytoons characters on tv was in 1991--24 years ago on WOR TV Channel 9 Secaucus N.J. I've always liked Mighty Mouse. He's not exactly one of my favorite cartoon characters. But he's so much better than THE SIMPSONS, AMERICAN DAD, and FAMILY GUY. There are so many crappy cartoons on tv today. Mighty Mouse, however, is a real hero in a manner of speaking and a great role model for kids. While it's true that Mighty Mouse and other Terrytoons were basically designed for children and FAMILY GUY, THE SIMPSONS etc. were defintely designed for adults, I'd much rather watch MM over those cartoons any day. One "Here I Come to Save the Day" is worth 100 "Don't Have a Cow Mans."
3:49-3:51 That Harry is truly despicable. Shaking a poor defenseless damsel in distress by the neck. Totally uncalled for! Pearl should've belted him one; knocked him senseless.
In "Triple Trouble" (1948), Pearl belts Harry across the room, smacking him into a wall, followed by a barrage of hurled vases. So she COULD take care of herself, in certain instances. But she must ALWAYS be rescued by Mighty Mouse towards the end......
Because that was often the name of the (human) villain in Paul Terry's "musical mellerdramas" of the 1930's, satirizing "Gay '90s mellerdramas" (sometimes, he was known as "Silk Hat Harry" in those).
Why did they ban Mighty Mouse ? I heard once he would sniff something outta his ring and some claimed it was cocaine but never seen him do it . Underdog who was sort of a knockoff of MM did take a pill from his ring . Such a shame we don't see these awesome cartoons anymore . Thanks 4 posting .
That didn't happen in the classic cartoons, that was something that happened in Ralph Bakshi's "Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures", which came out in 1987. A weakened Mighty Mouse crushed a special flower and sniffed the powder to revive himself. Some people complained that it was "depicting cocaine use" or some other BS.
This was THE SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON when I was a kid in the late fifties!!! 🎉😊😊
Sadly, the concept of Saturday Morning Cartoons has kinda lost its charm.
Its not as good as vinland saga
In our last episode,
we left Mighty Mouse at The Old Beaver River Station.
As you remember folks,
he was locked in a desperate struggle with the villain,
but on with the story.
They're off!
Mighty Mouse and Heckel &Jeckel were my favorites on Saturday mornings.
1:01 *I’ll never give up hope he’s my favorite radio comedian😂*
"In our last episode,

Wow! This just brought me right back! Saturday mornings with Mighty Mouse! ❤️
The early MM episodes were just Mighty appearing at climax to save the day.
But having an archvillain Oil Can Harry, damsel Pearl Pureheart and hilarious opera singing dialogue really spiced up MIghty Mouse career.
God, I LOVE Oil Can Harry! He's the only villain who could give Mighty Mouse an actual fight!
Thank you for uploading this. Nice to see another Mighty Mouse cartoon. My mom would have appreciated it, too.
i love Mighty Mouse singing in this cartoon.
wow they all most end like that then they continue it what a cartoon.
Mighty Mouse!!
Anybody remember watching these in those cartoon booths that were at stores usually next to the video games and coin operated horse?
OMG! Thank you so much for uploading this video! I've been looking everywhere for this!
I sure miss those childhood days when life seems simplistic and easy.
I love Mighty Mouse!

Oil Can Harry was a cad, and that is why I liked him--he was a villain's villain. LOL. Loved the old Mighty Mouse cartoons which were done a musical.
one of my favorite as a kid
5:15-now that's violent! That was repeated in COLD ROMANCE.
It's only violent if Harry can't "pull himself together" again.
Barry I. Grauman LOL!!!
I love this show
Awesome!!!😎😎💯💥🙏🦋🤗🔥👍👁️
Go, Mighty Mouse!
I love it when Mighty Mouse & Oil Can Harry fight those 2 make me laugh
this is so cute
I'll never give up Hope, he's my favorite radio comedienne -- even these old cartoons had a form of Easter eggs ... nod to Bob Hope ... I used to be so afraid that Pearl Pureheart would be harmed by Oil Can Harry LOLOL
Pearl Pureheart is so pretty. Mighty Mouse is so lucky to have her for a girlfriend.
I remember this episode!!! I remember this episode!!!
And then he kidnapped the opera girl, drove off in his sausage car, and took her to his haunted house to have his way with her. XD
Oil Can Harry's house looks like the Addams Family home on the tv series of the same name.
at the 3min mark, the plunger gun right to the butt....gets em everytime!
I have a vague memory of the CBS in color logo and that voice over. It was kind of strange as a toddler seeing that, because color TV was supposed to be a big deal, but being so young, I was wondering if it mattered.
"We can't wait until next week! Please tell us what happens." Why thank you, random voiceover. XD
Brilliant!'Loved M M as a kid. & there's a not so subtle homage to 'Silent Cinema'
Just like Underdog!
OIl Can Harry was a rat of a cat.
Terrytoons are the height of their game!
The very first of the Mighty Mouse "musical mellerdramas" (patterned after the ones the studio produced over a decade earlier, with a human version of "Oil Can Harry"), originally released in November 1947. Barry I. Grauman Personally, these Terrytoons melerdramas are better than the ones from the 1930s.
+Barry I. Grauman Those were the Fanny Zilch series.
+acholl980 I know.
Stops a train but can't break free from rope.
Skeletor as Harry the heartless Lol
lol i used to love watching this cartoon more then superman!!! hahaha classic yo
Who did the voice of Pearl Pureheart?
Great! Memories
I always liked watching these as a kid. its opera for kids, in melodrama format. lol.
Who is the voice of Oil Can Harry in this episode? Was this debut of the Mighty Mouse/Pearl Puerheart/Oil Can Harry operettas?
Yes, this was the first of their occasional "musical mellerdramas", through 1953. Ken Schoen is Harry's voice.
Did anyone ever see "our last episode?" Somehow I always managed to miss it...
I was going to say the same thing. There was a Heckle and Jekyll cartoon that did the same thing. I think it’s just there for effect and if there wasn’t an episode is the sequel of.
Pearl Pureheart has some serious "assets" there @0:58 and @4:28.
can stop a train 50x his own size but can not break free from a rope when tied down. yeah... cartoon logic.
yup you can also walk on thin air as long as you don't look down! thick air too.
the only one of those who
24LionHearts> In Norse mythology Fenris (or Fenrir) was the most fearsome monster (giant wolf) on earth. He was one real bad-ass. Enjoy the fun. It's only cartoon. If you can't enjoy it, go read news about Russia, China or Obama or migrants killing Americans.
Mighty Mouse and Pearl Pureheart make a wonderful couple.
Real talk, real cartoons
Mezcla tragedia con comedia, es divertido
Mighty Mouse could stop a train with a caboose and five boxcars in only a few seconds, but it takes him minutes to break ropes? What is this thing with Mighty Mouse and ropes? Why does he have so much difficulty with them?
a cartoon for kids fun. Adult logic doesn't apply
The complete opening song, as heard under the original opening titles, is repeated from one of the earlier "Fanny Zilch" cartoons....
"And the villain still pursued her.....
Yes, the villain still pursued her...
After twenty long years on a hard, hard road,
Oh, what anguish no one knowed...."
Harry sure has a lovely house. But it's not the kind of house you'd expect a foul villian like him to live in.
I totally agree with that.
+iheartFrozen 102 I'd expect vultures and bats to be circling around his house with snakes slithering around and few skunks making their home there. After all, Harry was kind of a skunk.
Again, agree. He's a evil snake.
iheartFrozen 102 He sure was an evil snake. But a lovable evil snake.
brian sedlock But calling Oil Can Harry a skunk would be an insult to skunks.
Can you get "Sunny Italy"? :)
Won't ya?"
I love that cartoon.
+Normajean McCracken I'm like this is not a two part episode!
How old is your son now?
Last episode?
5:23
Is our little heroine doomed to destruction in a sawmill?
Will Mighty Mouse arrive in time?
See the following episode,
Next Week!
STOP!
Gosh, we can't wait until Next Week!
Please show us what happens!
Won't ya?
how was mighty mouse able to stop a train but not just snap those ropes
Well, you have to consider he was knocked out for quite some time. I always thought that he was trying to quickly recover and multitask
bob rass maybe it's like how a crocodile and chomp through human bone but can break tape when it's around it's snout
He was also in a fist fight with the cat and wasn't winning.
bob rass , good question, I guess he's not that mighty after all.
Got kriptonite bro! The rope was made by Luthor Corp.
super
Oil Can Harry, didn't anyone ever to tell you that smoking cigarettes is hazardous to your health? Even if you smoke it with a cigarette holder? Look what happened to President Roosevelt in 1945 two years before this cartoon was made.
LoL! So true!
iheartFrozen 102 OT--FDR died of cerebal hemorage and that could be caused by too much smoking. Roosevelt also smoked with a cigarette holder.
brian sedlock He's the villain! He won't give a shit if his lungs die out, hell, his heart probably already did! :)
+Jacob Felger Oil Can Harry has a heart like rock. He's evil but lovable at the same time.
So called vintage cartoon shows. No woody wood pecker, underdog, Tennessee and chumley!
Directed by Connie Rasinski
This is a great cartoon. I wish they'd bring Mighty Mouse, Heckle & Jeckle and all his other Terrytoons pals back to television. And that goes for the Filmation and Ralph Bakshi Mighty Mouses too. Remember that Mighty Mouse used to be on WPIX-TV (channel 11) back in the late 70's and early 80's.
yes I do.
Can you upload catnip gang, I can't find that anywhere.
Will upload that one in next day or so.Could have sworn it was already on here, but a quick search shows zero results.
Alright, thanks.
DwighttFrye ppppp
I just watched this in school
0:52-0:57 what does that expression means-hammer and tongs?
brian sedlock It means really going at it; a ferocious battle.
Milton Knight I thought so. But I wasn't exactly sure. Thanks for clarrifying.
3:49-3:51 That Harry is truly despicable. Shaking a poor defenseless damsel in distress by the neck. Totally uncalled for! Pearl should've belted him one; knocked him senseless.
Or she could had kicked him in the balls
Yes, but that's inappropriate language for a cartoon like this. But Pearl has been known to whip the daylights out of Harry in a few cartoons.
In "Triple Trouble" (1948), Pearl belts Harry across the room, smacking him into a wall, followed by a barrage of hurled vases. So she COULD take care of herself, in certain instances. But she must ALWAYS be rescued by Mighty Mouse towards the end......
Is it just me or does oil can harry look like bendy.
5:44...just in the NICK of time-(?)
get it? get it? get it?
(snucker-snucker-snucker!!!)
Except for Mickey, all mouse characters have a feline nemesis.
Not Pinky and the Brain
0:24-0:33 LOL!!!!!!
1:07 how do you suppose that ddt spray got there?
NEVER QUESTION CARTOON LOGIC! If that DDT spray was there on the floor to begin with, it was there ALL ALONG! ;)
+Barry I. Grauman you're right.
TerryToons' Mighty Mouse is good DwighttFrye, very good.
But what about TerryToons' The Mighty Heroes?
❤❤❤❤
these are the ones i remember from my childhood, i see they made new versions of this, by the stupid makers of ren and skimpy
Wait he's strong enough to stop a train but he cant get out of those bonds? Lmao
You guys are funny. It is a children's cartoon.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
He just stopped a moving train but couldn't break the rope. LMAO. I love it!!!
If Oilcan Harry is supposed to be a cat, why does he look like a wolf?
why does a cat want to marry a mouse ??? I understand it's a cartoon and hes a villain but still y does he want to marry a mouse ???
Kuenstler Bros
😅😅Mighty Mouse was bound ropes ( NOT ⛓️) but, can a STOP a 🚂 on.top of itself 🤣🤣🤣!!! I get now ALL His 💪is in his 🦵🦵😂😂😂!!
Why is he *Oil Can* Harry?
Because that was often the name of the (human) villain in Paul Terry's "musical mellerdramas" of the 1930's, satirizing "Gay '90s mellerdramas" (sometimes, he was known as "Silk Hat Harry" in those).
...What were those ropes made of??
4
Bluto in feline form. Did I insult Bluto?
"Our little heroine"? She's been sitting on a log singing. Not what I would call a heroine.

🤣
Tá i MB 💙
Mighty Mouse an't ready yet, he can stop a train, but can't bust away apart a rope?
Teaches kids to leave the scene of an accident that they cause?
1:01-1:06 that's makes no sense.
It DOES when you know that Bob Hope was among the top five radio comedians on the air in 1947.......
Barry I. Grauman Oh I get it, she was refering to Bob Hope, when she said: I'll never give up hope."
Bob Hope
Was Pearl's comment tongue in cheek?
This episode is just one big shitpost 😂
when plotholes werent a thing
Might mouse my child hood cartoon there only one thing I hate when they start singing so annoying shit
WHAT THE FUCK?!!
It was music that made me hate Mighty Mouse
Fuck SJW people this show rules.
Mighty Mouse seems to be like the cartoon version of audey Murphy from those tacky western movies of the 1940’s,50’s
