Tanto a Nadia como a Eblede les pusieron puntuaciones injustas en 'salto', ambas merecían un 9.9 por la limpieza en la caída.
Marcia Frederick and Kathy Johnson displayed such poise among the Eastern bloc star gymnasts…the 1980 Olympics boycott was such a shame and a waste of wonderful American talent.

It has been over 40 years since this event happened and I have never heard an explanation of why Johnson was able to use two identical tumbling passes in the same routine. No one else did so it makes no sense. Even if you look at someone like Sylvia hindorf it is clear she does only two different salto skills in her entire routine, but she makes them different by making them come from different sequences so they can count. Makes no sense. I guess it's one of the mysteries of the sport. She never did this again in a competition.

It has always intrigued me to this day what the blue smudgy pattern was supposed to be o Natalia Shaposhnikova's pink leotard!! Is it a picture of something / someone or is it just a random pattern??
Smudgy tie-dye pattern maybe? I've always wondered this too lol. I keep looking for a picture, but it's very abstract if it's anything. Kind of reminds me of those ink splotch tests psychiatrists used to show their patients.

Nadias vault was more difficult and better, and she would deserve better marks! Nobody made Nadia a present! The opposite is the case!
antes de hablar ,hay q documentarte...el problema de nadia no estuvo el peso, si no otras cosas....estava vijilada muy de cerca de la policia de la seguridad.......alli hay muchas cosas. .y ella estava solo una niña...al final le pasa este de deconcentrarse.
Sumado a que le cambiaron a su entrenador por otro mas "relajado", lo cual provocó que ella perdiera la disciplina que la caracterizaba. Recuerdo haber oído que dejó de entrenar cerca de un año (aunque no sé si se referían al aspecto 'disciplinado' y 'riguroso'), por lo cual, solo se preparó debidamente como unas 5 semanas antes de estas competiciones.
A pesar de no haber entrenado casi un año y, con una preparacion de solo 5 semanas, creo que Nadia hizo una increible presentacion.
Why Comaneci was in the 4 apparatus if she didn't rich the mark?
Audre Chan why would somebody make a favour to a gymnast from Romania in a world of soviets gymnasts and jury? Think about. She was there because she was to good to avoid!
I'm confused by this question. Did she NOT qualify to be in the event finals but they let her compete anyway? I can't see that being the case. The logical assumption would be that she was there because she was really good, she qualified, and she deserved to be there.
She finished second in prelims and was the best of her team so made all finals.

I don’t know what country they were in, but those judges had it in for the Romanians! Terrible and unfair scores for perfect routines!
