1:15:32 Hopkins said Earl used inside English cutting the six in the side to land on the seven in that last rack against Ellin. Was it? If Earl put right hand English to kill the cue ball, wouldn't that be outside English?
Such beautiful matches. It makes me wish I could travel back in time just to be in the audience for one of those matches! So much more audience participation; it really seems to add to the excitement. The pace and rhythm of the matches is steady almost the entire time. I love that. A lot of the matches today are so, so slow that they either put me to sleep or I just have to move past them and find something different to watch lol. So, lately I've been "going back in time" to watch these. 😉 Ray, your channel is definitely one of my current favorites to watch for pool. Thank you, again, for posting these! Really appreciate it. 😊
Glad you're enjoying the virtual time travel, TL. It's pleasure to receive and read your well-expressed enthusiasm and appreciative words. Be assured that in an infinite Universe with quantum-ly generated, infinite timelines, versions of "you" . . . *are* in the audience for some of them.
This is a great video. Thanks for the upload. I've never seen Django looking so young (goofy haircut and all), but he played great. And, as someone else mentioned, Earl was a complete gentleman in the interview.
Can you imagine walking-up to Bustamante in the Mid-nineties and saying race to 9 and I will spot you 6 games on the wire! Boosty would look at you like you were a fool, or crazy...a crazy fool, probably! Thanks for the Golden-Era Video, started playing 9-Ball due too injuries; now just watch; although the injuries seem to still follow me around.
Thanks for the kind words, Urban. Actually even after playing for many decades, it's a rare professional match that doesn't enable learning a thing or two -- even if it's only you deciding "Here's I would have played that shot or series of shots."
wished Efren was against Ellin or Earl. same with Django.. I'm thinking, Filpino against a Flipino so that only one can get through to the finals. What a Glory it woulda been if Fil vs Fil in the Finals. One time at an IPT tour, of the Final 6 - 3 were filipinos. Efren, Busty, Manalo against Mika, Nick and hmmm... Earl? efren got through and went on to Defeat Mike the Mouth Sigel 2 sets to 0. Efren won $ 200,000 biggest Purse at that time. But his next IPT of $ 500,000 --- dont know if Efren was Paid in full.
Glad you enjoyed it,Dill. Thanks for your comment. Here is how you can quickly see many other billiards videos that I have -- plenty include Efren's magic :
Thanks for the kind words, Max. We spoke a number of times nears ago when you were the house pro at Hywd. Billiards. Always loved your skills and humor. Pat at Accu likely still has the master VHS of that Raf/Efren '94 and perhaps send you a courtesy DVD, Zip, or stream of it.
bustamante's mullet... glad that was a phase lol! he's missing the long, dangling earring tho. i love how he just gets up and takes one shot in the first rack and wins. exceptional player
Really nice to see earl gracious in defeat and of course I can't say enough good things about bustamante an absolute stone cold killer on the table yet similar to efren very humble never cries complains or a single negative thing to say win or lose
Yeah, everything in his shooting mechanism are all unique, I never seen anyone points cues 3 inches before the cueball and the otherworldly Inglish😅 looks like he did spin even on stop shots
Busty looks good, as he's up 2-0. He's always been a very lucky pool player as well as one of the most talented. Players that follow through as far as Fransisco, tend to catch rolls at a higher clip. A little trade secret to being a "lucky" player.....
I watched Bustamante and Archer gamble in Toledo Ohio a few months after this tournament. Race to 13 for 5k, Busty won the first set. Archer won the second set by running 13 and out. Craziest thing I have ever seen, crowd was going crazy and then when everything calmed down, Busty has the coin in his hand and asked Archer to double the bet for the 3rd set!! Heart like no other, they did and Busty won the third set 13-5, Archer actually ran 15 racks in a row. 13-0 and the first 2 games of the last set. He miscues in the 3rd game and Busty never looked back. Absolutely incredible..
It maybe and I believe it's Ok for efren to LOse against a Fellow rising filipino so that Django can maker a name for hisself in the US Pro circuit. Efren is not Selfish or Greedy for Fame and Money. He plays for his Love of the Art of Pool.

Django looks like a Pineapple head haha. What a hair cut! Of the US Pro players, the only one I'm afraid that can beat Efren is Earl... I've watched Earl defeat Efren. Though Earl has more wins against Efren, He respects Efren so much coz Efren Rampaged throughout the US PRo circuit winning many Titles in dfferent styles. 9Ball, 8Ball, One Pocket, and others.

Also: AZ Billiards said Bustamante's prize money only $2,350? Earl's $15,000? I don't get it
@@rogerscottcathey Post that question directly to AZB. It will make for an interesting, and vigorous discussion by old timers ~ Ray C.

I've been looking for this match for soooo long!! I had it on betamax back in the day.
this was his greatest performance beating two legends in reyes and strickland.

Ray u did it again! THANK U!
But in the end of their career Reyes prove he was the GOAT
Would be a treasure to see the entire Ellin v Strickland match ,💯
What a super line up of games! It was great.
Thanks for the show... Efren is the GOAT.
Couldn't agree more!

Django's mullet is the real winner here
The man had style
great uplaod :)
Wow they can smoke on the pool hall on the playing area itself. Thats dope. Adds to the the 'billiard' aesthetic itself
Keep them coming Carlton, much thanks!
Efren, bustamante, pagulayan are so cool, I love them
Thanks Ray,,,,
Thnx Ray!!
Django’s hair is my new inspi
so old skull. thank 4 upload ☺
Busta has one of the greatest breaks in billiard history!
His cue ball was radar-clocked at thirty-five miles per hour (35 mph) at the time. Breaks can now be clocked by a smartphone acoustic app..
One of the power breaks in billiard history
Bustamante sangat unik, aku suka permainan nya sampe sekarang sering menonton nya..

These two were friends ever since the first few racks they played.
Busti's hairstyle is the best.
F. Bustamante el número 1, una leyenda del pool!!!!
That Black Boar cue is sweet. It has a nice sound
Shape of things to come. In the 2002 World Pool Championship, Earl this time bests Django in the Final
bustamante's mullet... glad that was a phase lol! he's missing the long, dangling earring tho. i love how he just gets up and takes one shot in the first rack and wins. exceptional player

Fransico is my favorite pool player he plays his best everytime he gets on the table. Plus he's got a unique way of playing.
Yeah, everything in his shooting mechanism are all unique, I never seen anyone points cues 3 inches before the cueball and the otherworldly Inglish😅 looks like he did spin even on stop shots
Bustamante rocking the Laborinth mullet

+the snowdawg Django is a very skillful player, luck is just part of the game
Truthfully....
I'd like to think Earl visits Philippines frequently to play Django and Bata
Keep dreaming, Jvask.
In fact he did. And Reyes and Bustamante beaten him alot in here.
How much change for Bustamante with the mullet. Efren not so much. He still looks the same
👍 N I C E ❤️👏
Bustamante nice
Still could smoke cigs in 93
It was his year!
Bustamante, he was 30 at that time, same with my age now, yet I am still strugle to put english on the cue ball 😅
Jembret brooo hahaha, seng penting semangat
You need to grow a mullet like he did
crazy first rack
legendarios
Damn busti used to shoot way stronger in the 90s

I agree
Nice hair Francisco long back.
I agree, Mateo and many other viewers have said something similar. It was an attractive look.
Didn't know Mario Van Peebles was such a talented pool player
Good one, Luis. :-) Glad you enjoyed the world-class pool and maybe picked up a few playing tips as we all do when watching top professionals.
Yes, they're my source of inspiration. Thank you for uploading these gorgeous matches of the yesterdays!
Busty said this was his first tourney in the US.
It maybe and I believe it's Ok for efren to LOse against a Fellow rising filipino so that Django can maker a name for hisself in the US Pro circuit. Efren is not Selfish or Greedy for Fame and Money. He plays for his Love of the Art of Pool.
nice... 1sub here

Earl got lucky 😂🍀
I wonder if Busty's ever pulled his tip off on his backstroke.
Wanting to see Ellin's whole games. man that dude died at 34 y-o.. how come? anyway, interesting player.

Oo. . . talagang kamukha niya si Zoren sa isang tiyak na edad
Hahahah! Ito din nasa isip ko.
Ang lakas talaga sumargo django tang ina !!!
Hahaha ngayun ko lng nakita to ayus porma ni bustamante...
若い😊
Que exelente jugador a sido Bustamante lo que más me gustó que aplastó al nefasto de strickland..y al bata reyes ahí no se vio el disque mago

ang galing naman ni efren bustamante
Dont pay attention to bringing the cue dead straight back and forth

ray carlton when earl is playing his best speed nobody is touching him.. i love the way earl rolls that cue ball around and gets natural shape
long back pa champ hehe
glory days
Django at his best..
That hairstyle tho
Philipino brothers))
I think that's the worst play I've seen from Reyes...
Bustamante beats Efren 9 to 2. Showing he is the best Filipino player.
Best on that particular day.
Vovo hahaha
Anjir gondrong belakang🤣
diretso pa plangketa ni dyango dyan! ngayon sobra komang na eh hehehe...
Magandang pagmamasid, Jake.
@@raycarltonbilliards5798 filipino ka pala. 😂
Bustemante is awesome but Efren made some uncanny mistakes. Makes me wonder.
What scenario, cause, skill lapse, or suspect motivation do you wonder about -- if you care to elaborate.
Nickname "Dtango" 🤣
Helpful correction, Josh. It's Django.
Takes 2 to dtango 😄
Dtango daw lol
Seems like they break like girls now. I stepped away from the game for 15 years and there’s so much that has changed.
