I look back on decades of listening to music and going to gigs. I saw John on numerous occasions from the early 70s through to the some of the gigs when he still had two legs. Never saw him after the amputation as I found it far far too sad. At his best John could take your breath away with the sheer emotional intensity of his performances (I can’t think of anyone else who could come close to him), the music scene now without John is just so very empty now.

Brilliant find. Thanks for that. I saw him with the same line up the same year play in a tiny venue in Cork. The atmosphere was electric. Live on John!
I wasn't exposed to JM until 2015 (thank you RUclips and Transatlantic Sessions!). I've been hooked ever since! Although I am very sad I never got the privilege of seeing him live, I thank God he left this world such an amazing quantity of outstanding, beautiful music.

Not fair. He's almost sober... Gorgeous performance. People keep talking about the long slow decline from the early 80s on. This is the year 2000 and it doesn't sound like decline to me

Back in the 70's, when you played John Martyn once, you were hooked by his music for all your life.
