UPDATED Baby HAIR WASH Routine | Healthy NATURAL HAIR Care For Infants
Today I am going to be showing you Amori's UPDATED hair wash routine! This has been a highly requested video ever since you all loved her last hair routine video when she was only 10 weeks old! She was 7 months old during the filming of this video. I have been doing this routine ever since she was about 4 months old. I slowly started adding in new products to her hair. I continued with the Shea Moisture Baby Wash & Shampoo and just added in the Shea Moisture Kids Line. I did that for about a month or so and then I switched over to the Shea Moisture Kids Shampoo & Conditioner as I found the baby shampoo wasn't working well for her hair anymore. In this video, I go into detail about all of the products that we use, tips and tricks on how to wash the hair and scalp properly, and how to properly moisturizer her hair to get her curls juicy and poppin'! Lol.
If you have any questions or comments, leave them down below! If you want to see more of this content, make sure you like this video and subscribe so you won't miss our next video! Thank YOU!

That little girl is absolutely adorable! She is going to grow up to be gorgeous, pretty little mama! Thanks for the tips!
Aww. Thank you so much Krissy! I appreciate that!
What a little doll! ♥️♥️♥️
I was really getting overwhelmed with how to manage our new baby’s hair needs. Your videos are straightforward, simple, and very easy to follow. Thank you from a very nervous new mama!
these little ones are simple angelic
Aren't they?! Thanks so much for watching. 💜
Aww she is so adorable
Thank you!! You watched a lot of our videos, we appreciate the support.
Pretty baby girl❤❤
Thank you for this. I love how you explain the process and the why for each product. I'm going shopping and I'll def watch this once I have them products.
Aww. I am so glad this was helpful for you! Did you end up trying the products?
@@blendedfields I got all the products and we tried it and still didn't have much success. I'll redo the steps this weekend and I'll send you a picture of outcome. It was better than what we've tried before but not as much curls as we'd imagined. May be with practice we'll also get better.
I love this!My baby just turned 6 months and he has the same exact hair texture and pattern.Curls all over the place and dry.bout to order now! Lol
Lol. Awww!! That's amazing. Did you order the products?! If so, how did you like them?
Pls where can I get this products
They don't have baby hair products for type 4 curls or courser hair (at least I have not found) so I really like your idea of stepping your baby's hair care routine up to the Shea Moisture Kids line. I I'm going to try this for my 10-month-old son! Thank you so much for this video (btw she is adorable)💕
Hi Dorikah! Sorry for the late reply. Yes! You have to use your best judgement on what products work best for your baby! Hopefully these products will work well for you. My baby is now 13 months, and we are still using them! And you are very welcome! Thank you so much for watching.
You have a beautiful baby 👶🏾 🥰
Thanks so much Stephanie! We appreciate you! 💜
She's really cute!!!!
Aww. Thank you so much!
I’m a new mom and I’ve been using baby shampoo and my 15 month old this video just told me to go with Shea moisturizer so that my daughter’s hair will gain that moisture . Thank you 🙏🏾
You are very welcome! I love Shea Moisture! I use it for my hair and my older daughter's hair as well.
You should ALWAYS apply the oil last it is a sealant so it would seal out anything you apply after it. I noticed in her new videos she now applies the oil last too. Otherwise this routine is golden.
I have a set of Twins (10 months) their Afro-Latino and I I'm having the hardest time trying to find a routine that works best for us. I just want to say thank you for your videos. I am first time mom and want to do everything right for their hair growth but had no knowledge so thanks again!
Aww!! Of course Angelina. You are very welcome. Twins, huh?! Wow, I'm sure you have your hands full! Just know that you will find what works best for you and your babies. You are doing a wonderful job!
Hiii dear how do you do it?i have a set of twins and no idea how to go about it?
Awhhh same here with my little Afro Latino babies!!!
i didn’t know you could use kids hair products on babies younger than a year old. i needed this
Yes, you sure can! I just made sure my daughter was older (way out of newborn stage) before adding all of these other products in. I had to since her hair was getting very dry and needed more moisture. Do what works best for you!
I didn't know I either. I went to buy some kids product last month for my 11 month old and the store clerk said it was for kids aged 3 and up. I ended up not buying
White mom with a mixed baby. Thank you for making the video!
You are very welcome! I'm glad that it was helpful!
Did you dry her hair completely with towel before applying cream and coconut oil or while hair was wet?
Nice video I love the products
Thanks Lilian!! Have you tried the products before?! They are definitely are favorites!
She is too cute. She favors my daughter, she's only 2mos. But they look like twins. My oldest daughter said aww she looks just like the baby lol. I use the virgin coconut oil as well, but I might have to try this product on my baby.
Hi Erika!! Aww! If only we could share pictures so I can see this baby of yours, lol! Yes, definitely give it a try and see if it works for you!
My little one is 6months old, I just became more comfortable doing her hair. Thanks to your videos.
Aww!! That is so awesome Penelope. I am so glad that we were able to help you get more comfortable. It is definitely a learning process, so please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you 🤗!!
Beautiful baby, Can u tell me the products you used?
Thanks for the video. I love the headband, where did you get ?
You are so welcome! I got all of her headbands from Amazon. The come in a large pack full of colors! There is a link in the description box for you!

Thank you so much Brittany! We appreciate you watching!
How do u maintenance it. For example. The next day what do u do.
What products do you recommend using on a newborn baby’s hair , I gave birth not too long ago and she has a full head of hair already… but dont want to put too many stuff in her hair , what should I use ?
Thankful I came across your videos! Very helpful and informative ❤️ how much time lapsed between you applying the detangler, cream and oil? Was it back to back or time spaced in between each product?
I am glad the videos are helpful for you!! I applied them back to back!
🤩🤩
Thank you for watching!
Please how i get my baby's hair moisturised before wash day ?
Hey love are these products tear free?
At what age did you start applying all these products ? My baby is only two months I want to start styling around 6 months
Am from Ghana
My daughter is 10 months and this video has helped me so much! Thank you! I do want to know how you re moisture during the week and with what? That’s what’s I’m having a tough time with.
Hey Alexis! Aww, I am so glad that this video was helpful for you and your daughter. I actually just posted a video of what I look for daily when I am moisturizing Amori's hair, so go take a look. Let me know if you need anything else!
Hello beautiful!!! 😍
Is it tear free shampoo and conditioner?
Thank you for the lovely video. I was wondering do you reapply any of the products during the week before wash day, if yes how often and which ones?
You are so welcome! And yes, I reapply the spray and the moisturizer throughout the week. It honestly depends on her hair though and how well it's holding up, but I would say a few times during washes.
@@blendedfields so the detangling spray and the curl cream are what you apply in between washes? Do you wet her hair before you add those or add them to dry hair?
Also, your baby watching the dancing veggie videos! Mine loves those too 😅 “Smoothie mix” seems to keep her attention longest 😆
@Kara Nelson LOL! Yes! Hey Bear has definitely saved the day a lot of times. And I actually just posted a video about what we do in between washes, so make sure you go check it out! 💜
Thanks for your lovely video. Please can you write out the name products you use for your baby hair. My daughter is 6months now and ill like to try some baby products on her. Can't really decides yet. And secondly, how often do you wash and apply these product. Daily or weekly. Could you recommend where you got them? Thanks
You're welcome Lilian! If you open up the description box right below the video, all of the product names are listed there for you! I have also attached links to Amazon to where you can purchase the products. If you aren't an online shopper, then you should be able to find these products at your local store (Target, Walmart, etc). And to answer your last question, I do this routine once a week! I do apply some of the oil and moisturizer throughout the week though. Thanks for watching!
Is this product suitable for 1 younger baby ? I thought is suitable from age 3y
Thank you for this video. I was really looking for the video of how you follow up with moisture to keep her hair moisturised, but I didn't see it. Please can you share some tips on how to follow up? Because that's the issue I have with my 10 months old baby.
Hi! You are so welcome! I just posted the video of how I maintain moisture in Amori's hair throughout the week. Let me know if you need anything else!
What age did you start putting rubber bands in her hair ??
My 1 year old won’t let me do his hair, I comb it out and just put products in it but it gets messy within the hour. I feel like I’m not doing enough and neglecting his hair but he keeps moving his head and pushes my hands away.I’ve tried distracting him with snacks/phone 😢
My baby is 6 months and her hair is super dry and frizzy, I’m going to try this! Also does your baby’s hair ever get knotted in the back from laying on it/being in the car seat??
Yes! Let us know how this routine works for you! And yeah, her hair does get dry in the back, so I just make sure to apply extra oil and moisturizer back there!
Thank you. How often do you do this? And how early did you start putting these products in her hair? I have a 9-month old mixed baby and trying to figure out the good routine for her.
Hi Yuliia! You are very welcome. I did this about once a week but a lot of the time it went over that amount of days just depending on our schedule. With these products, I started using them when she was about 4 months old because the products I used when she was a baby were not enough moisture for her. Definitely give it a try to see how they work for you!
I am trying to see if it real work because I have a 2 year old daughter
My son uses the same shampoo and conditioner but he hates me bothering his hair he cries on wash day but I do need to maintain his hydration it tends to get dry
Hey was just wondering how do often do you wash her hair? As a newborn and as of now?
Hey Celest! I wash her hair once a week, it's been the same since she was little.
I’m gonna try this my baby 7 months and the back of my baby hair is dry and falling out I’m gonna try these products thanks
Does it work
When can you start doing this if you have a new born baby please and thank you.
Hey Ashanti! I started doing this when my baby was a little older. I have another video specifically for newborn hair care. That should help you a ton! I started that routine when she was around 1-2 weeks old.
You have a beautiful baby! What kind of pacifier is this? I’m looking for one for my baby boy
I am sorry about the late reply, her pacifier is the Itzy Ritzy pacifier! The only one that she will take.
@@blendedfields thank you ♥️
Can still make baby hair to grown also
I have 8 months old babygirl I’m wondering if you recommend doing her hair I usually do her hair everyday (with the little elastic bands) and wash everyday will this damage her curly hair? Thank you for your videos definitely helping me out !(:
Hey Samantha! Yea, you can totally try our method/regimen for you baby to see if it helps. Amori is the same age. I don't think I would recommend washing her hair every daily as that can be drying to the hair. But you can totally add in some moisture (water, oil, or cream) to her hair daily if you feel it's needed. It all boils down to your baby though and how her hair reacts to certain things.
How often do you wash he r hair? She is beautiful
Thank you so much!! Now, I wash her hair about every 1-2 weeks. It was weekly before.
My daughter is 7 months old now she has a bald spot in the back of her head and her hair is extremely dry it attracts lint. Would this routine help with both dryness and hair growth?
Hey Cierrah! I actually just wrote this same comment to someone else. I mentioned how it can be normal due to the way babies sleep and the friction that is causes on the back of their head. In person, you can tell that Amori's hair IS thinner in that area, but she didn't lose a lot of hair. I honestly didn't do anything special besides making sure that back area stays well moisturized! You can definitely try this routine to see if it will work for your baby!
Hi I have 8 month old boy girl twins. They are mixed race their Dad is full Cameroonian and I am half English, half Iraqi. My boy has pretty much 4c hair, and lots of it and my girls is around 3a, 3b and its basically fine at the moment and more sparse. I have wavy hair so I'm new to all of this! How do you think their routines would differ? I was thinking to buy Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioner for both of them but just apply coconut oil to my boy for now? Should I also wash his a little less than the girl? Thanks so much for your info by the way it's actually hard to find advice online! 🙏😊
Hi Samira! I am so sorry for my late reply. I can not speak on 3a or 4c texture since I have haven't dealt with this before. However, find what works best for you! Even if I did have some experience with that texture, what I do may not work for you. What I have seen is that 4c texture can get drier quicker, so I would stay on top of moisturizing for all. You can absolutely try the routine that I use, but you may have to adjust it to your daughters and sons liking. How old are they? And you are very welcome. It is hard to find advice for kids natural hair online, this is why I am trying to make videos centering this topic to help.
@@blendedfields hey, thanks so much for your response, I literally just saw it! They're both 1 now, I would say my daughter has similar hair to your daughters, and my son pretty much has 4b/afro hair. How should I moisture afro hair in general? For wash day and in-between? With my girl I'm going to so what you said, experiment and see what works, it can get frizzy and she can loose her curl pattern quite quickly but I know that's also down to me not using styling products much I think! And yes, thanks so much for doing this and there really isn't much info xx
what age would you say this is appropriate? my daughter has really tight curls and hair like your daughters and it gets really dry but she's only 4 months
Following
I apologize for the late reply, but I started to change my daughter's products around that age as well, she was about 4-5 months old. If you feel like you are needing to switch over due to dryness, then you can certainly try this routine now (although your baby is older now, lol).
how often do you wash her hair and when you don’t wash her hair what to you do thank you
Hey Gloria! I wash her hair about once a week. Between washes, I reapply water and moisturizer whenever I feel it's needed.
I love your videos. I had no idea we could use anything else other than J&J or Aveeno at 10 weeks until I saw your first video. I tried the Shea Moisture Baby Calm & Comfort Wash & Shampoo with the Frankincense and Myrrh and my daughter’s hair seems to be drier than when using the J&J no more tears shampoo and has some tangles but I see it’s growing. She may be ready for the Kids line too- she’s 3 months this week. Do you use a bonnet at nighttime?
Aww, thanks!! We appreciate you for watching. And yes! You can totally use other products as long as they are designed for babies in mind. If the Shea Moisture was drying for your baby's hair, then you can stick with the J&J. You have to do what works for you since it's not a one size fits all. Just make sure you're moisturizing after the shampoo! And no, we don't use a bonnet. I keep going back and forth on using one, I'm just afraid of it slipping down onto her face or something when she's sleeping, lol. I know they have baby specific ones but it still makes me nervous.
@@blendedfields just noticed a small patch today- in the back of her head where she sleeps- that looks like cradle cap. It’s weird because she never had cradle cap. 🤷🏾♀️
Aww! Oh no. Are you sure it's cradle cap and not just dry scalp/skin? The back of the head can get dry easily since a lot of babies sleep on their backs. I always have to make sure I put extra oil or moisturizer back there to help. Amori had a mild case of cradle cap but it was on the top of her head. It went away with after a couple washes with Mustella shampoo mousse .
@@blendedfields it’s a small red patch with what looks like flakes (about the size of a dime) so I assumed it was cradle cap. The flakes were soft when I touched them. I got some of the Mustela tonight and will wash her hair tomorrow…we’ll see. I used the SM Coconut Oil you used to moisturize and comb her hair yesterday and didn’t notice the patch or the flakes then, but I saw it today.
@@shugadenson909 Oh okay! Let me know how the shampoo works for you. It may take a couple of washes to get rid of it all. If it doesn't go away, definitely consult with your pediatrician.
How often do you wash her hair, do you do this every day?
Hi there! During this time, I washed her hair about once a week, sometimes a little bit longer in between.
Beautiful baby girl! My daughters hair looks identical to your daughters! Mine is almost 7 months old and I had just been using shea moisture baby shampoo and black castor oil. I think it's time to move on up to kids products, because her hair is a bit dry the next day after washing. At what age did you start this routine for your daughter?
Aww! Thanks Mia. Our babies are close in age! I switched her over to the kids line when she was about 4 months or so, but I only started with the spray and butter cream first, I was still using the baby shampoo. I didn't use the shampoo/conditioner until a little bit later. But you can definitely start whenever since you notice her hair being dry. Give it a try and let us know how you like it!
I’m glad she said that. I messaged you before in the other video about your baby lol. Mine turned 7 months on the 6th of this month and I just noticed her hair getting dry and frizzy after her hair wash day.. do you think I should keep using her baby shampoo or upgrade to the kids shampoo? Along with the other items to hold her curls and not be dry and frizzy the next day 😩
@@riyahsworld3268 what did you end up using? My foster baby is almost 6 months and her hair has started getting very dry all the sudden (I’ve been using the same things for months - Noodle and boo shampoo 1-2x a week, “wash” with N&B conditioner 1-2x a week and after shampoo, Knot Today detangler after bath and with water on non-wash days.)
So sorry! I must have missed your comment @Riyah's World! What did you end up trying?
@Kara Nelson Sorry for my late reply as well. Did you end up trying anything new??
How many times do you do wash day in a month? And how do you maintain the moisture all week 😊
Wash day should be once a week
At what age would you start putting a satin bonnet on her? We are fostering a sweet little biracial girl and I want to do the best I can with her hair and skin.
What’s the name of the products and brands
Where can I purchase these items
Hey Antonette! All of the product names are listed in the description box for you! And I also have links of where you can purchase them. But you can also get them at local stores like Target or Walmart.
Pls were will I get some to buy
Hi there! All of the products are linked in the description box. You can also find them on Amazon or the Shea Moisture website.
Can I use those products on a 3 months old baby hair?
Hi Keisha! You can certainly try to see if these products would work well for you. Although at 3 months, I was still using very minimal products on my daughters hair since newborns don't need a lot of products at that age. I ended up switching over when she was about 4-5 months old, due to dryness.
Plz where can I get it
Hey. You can get these at any major store like Walmart or Target. You can also use Amazon, I have links in the description box for you!
Do braided her hair?
Hi, during this age, I did not braid her hair. I love her curly fro so this is what I do most of the time. Now that she's older, I will put ponytails in, but that is about it.
How did you get your baby to not lose hair? My son is losing a lot of his hair in the back 😩
Hey Ashley! I'm so sorry your baby is losing hair in the back, but just know that this is normal due to the way babies sleep and the friction that is causes on the back of their head. In person, you can tell that her hair IS thinner in that area, but she didn't lose a lot of hair. I honestly didn't do anything special besides making sure that back area stays well moisturized! I'm sure that you are doing the best that you can! Just know that it WILL grow back!
How often do you wash her hair
Hi there! During this time, I washed her hair about once a week.
My daughter hair is just like that
Oh excellent! Hopefully this video was helpful for you!
@@blendedfields yes it is very helpful thank you
Do you think sheamoisture kids is better than Cantu Kids ?
Hi there! I can not say if it is better or not since I have not used the Cantu Kids line.
Suggestion: talk about fast hair growth fortified shampoo.
Thanks for watching!
Can I use this for my 2month old baby
Hi there! I didn't start using these products for my daughter until she was a little bit older. I would stick to a more simple routine for younger babies since their hair shouldn't need many products and manipulation.
What do I do on non wash days??
Hi there! I have a video dedicated to what I do in between wash days! It's called "How To Maintain Natural Hair Between Wash Days"!
Lawd I’m not looking forward to the hair washing with my daughter 😩😂😂😂😂😂. All my nieces they use to wrestle me 😩when it came to washing and doing their hair 😂
How many months can you start using this on your baby’s hair?
Hi! We started when she was about 4 months old.
Please am in Ghana where can I get shea moisture products to buy
Hi! They have them on Amazon (which direct links are listed for you in the description box) or I'm sure that you can go to the Shea Moisture website to see if they ship to you!

Please how many months old was your baby when this video was done???
Can i use all of these on a 2 months and 8 days old baby???
Hey! I would recommend watching our newborn video for hair washing. I didn't use these products until my daughter was around 4-5 months old because her hair needed more moisture!
I am a new mom Please I want to know if two months baby can use it or three months baby too
Hi there! I know your comment was a while ago, but I would not recommend these for a newborn baby. I would recommend checking out my newborn hair wash routine for recommendations!
Well my baby’s hair is super dry, maybe I need to do this for him. He’s 3 months and I only use J&J baby shampoo? Don’t know of what oils will work for him.
Hey TyShica! Are you applying anything after the shampoo? If not, definitely try some oils. Whatever oil you like should work fine. We like coconut oil and Jamaican Black Castor Oil. But there are many types, you'll just have to see what works best for you. I also had to change from the baby shampoo to the kids shampoo as it was drying as she got older, so you can look into changing shampoos as well. Let me know how it works for you!
So you used Shea Moisture Baby Products At first ?
Yes!! I have a detailed video that I posted before this one that explains what I did when she was a newborn.
Really wanna start doing this, I’ve just been using Aveeno baby wash/ shampoo and Cetafil baby wash/ shampoo and nothing else. My baby has some flakes in her hair that I think is cradle cap and it’s driving me nuts 😢..
Aww! How old is your baby? Amori had some mild cradle cap when she was younger and I used the Mustela Shampoo Moose for Cradle Cap a couple times and it took it away. So you can try that! It's also important to apply some type of moisture to your baby's scalp and hair after the shampoo. If she's younger, just the oil will work fine, if she older and you think she needs more than oil, you can try this regimen too!
@@blendedfields she’ll be 3 months at the end of September. Can I still use the Mustela shampoo and the shea moisture coconut oil that I see you use on your baby girl?
@@sh.27960 Yes. Absolutely. That's what I did for a couple washes. Once the cradle cap was gone, I switched back to the baby shampoo but I have heard of people using the Mustela shampoo as a normal shampoo too. Just remember to moisture!!

You certainly can, they are safe!
How often do you wash
Hi there! About once a week at this point, but sometimes it can be a little longer now that she's older.

What is the name of the product.?how much money

There’s no law that says adults/children have to have “curl definition”. There’s no ideal curl pattern/texture.
Nor do we need 100’s of products to have healthy hair.
Healthy is the goal.
And she definitely looks healthy & cute!
Shut up and mind your own kids
