From the way the jackpot total is split in half on the video wall in the first draw, it looks like the intention was to have the machine slide out in front of the wall and then it close again. Which is pretty ambitious in itself! Clearly no time to rehearse coming from the same studio as the rest of the shebang.
What were the winning years from the first Millenium lottery draw? I know the first one was 1986, but what were the other five main years and the bonus year?
When you consider the lottery had been doing live draws for years it's ironic that this was the biggest blunder of the longest live TV programme the beeb ever did.
It looks like the whole show was all ambition and no rehearsal. No single person, on screen or off, seemed to know what the hell they should be doing at any particular moment. The level of incompetence was off the scale.
Observe that Alan basically gives stage directions to Dale that he completely ignores.
I was waiting for Alan to go “Dale ffs get up there!l
RIP Dale, this clip still makes me chuckle when he totally ignores Alan Dedicoat because he is too busy chatting to Barbara!

@@Connor_M27 Yes, I've seen it.
Really wish I'd been around to see this, but we went to a millennium party... I did watch the 2000 Today thing all day though!

If only we could hear what was going on in the gallery. It must have been chaos!
RIP Barbara
What a monumental farce. I'm not overly fussed about the odd gaffe on live TV, it happens. But this really is something else. Just embarrassing.
All the camera crew are walking in front of the cameras around the set aswell.

Congrats, your comment made it on the TV. Channel 5 When Saturday Night TV Goes Horribly Wrong.
@@JoeyXSmith I saw that!😁
This is the second time this year that the wall has got stuck!
Christ what a mess this was, I remember watching. You would think the BBC and the Lottery would have rehearsed this over and over for the big night.

Strange to think that Dale Winton & Barbara Windsor are both dead now

I wonder what he was going to SAY!! about IF your scottish, Why cut that off!!!
Absolutely disgraceful, someone should have been punished for this. How could they let this happen? One of the biggest atrocities I've ever seen.
Why is it an atrocity
