- Today I install an ECS Tuning vacuum actuated exhaust cut out (with Double Apex switch) on my 2011 MK6 Volkswagen GTI.
Follow me on instagram!: notanrs?hl=en
Get the cutout here!: www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-parts... - Авто/Мото
Doesn’t sound any different and is still a slow GTI that gets walked by every other hot hatch
Lmao someone must be mad today
Is that how you spell Jason. 🤔
lol was thinking the same thing. cant hear a difference...
Lol you can't hear a difference because camera microphones suck. The difference is real lol
lmao its literally best in class, name 3 quicker hatches
Those tips... lord have mercy
Eventually I'm going to put one on my mk3 vr6
After watching your video I'm definitely going with the ecs tuning cutout
the launch control sounds soo coog
I love the backfire
Good job buddy!! I want that for my audi a3 8v.
ecs tuning exhaust cutout on the mk6 gti âm thanh tiếng pô quá hay ,cảm ơn bạn chia sẻ video
THought about doing this but i honestly couldnt tell a difference. Good video though.
After watching this im going with this cutout but how did u connect the button n the cutout, video isnt detailed at all
Hey! what size cutout did you get? i wanna get the same one!
do you know if the GOLF R is 60mm outside diameter around stock exhaust?
hey Carter where did you get the exhaust with from
Which state are you in and how much would you charge to install?😅 aha. Or how much should I expect a muffler shop to charge me if I just bring them the parts? Majority because of the wiring
1:47 ecs provided you with this button ?
Hello which is the duration?
Are there Bluetooth versions of this where it’s a remote
what tune are you on?
That satisfying smile 9:50
this valve cutout works with vacuum lines (Negative pressure), does it close itself when on boost (Positive prssure)?
nope! There’s a one way check valve inline. However, if you’re in boost and you open the cutout it won’t immediately open until you let off boost.
@@cartermaneki thanks buddy, that make sense to me now, i forgot about the solenoid and the check valve. I am in the process to convert from external vacuum pump to this simple push button system.
Hey does yours got small leak when closed all the way, cant tell unless you got the car on a lift.i installed my today and it got a small leak idk if its supposed to or not(its adjusted to close all the way too)
Harun Krusko I haven’t had mine up on a lift to check, but I doubt it seals perfectly just because of the nature of how it opens and closes. Mine personally doesn’t have any audible leaks from driving or outside the car
What mods do you have to make it crackle like that or is it part of the tune
that’s all in the tuning. my car is tuned by Stratified. I have a video on it here ruclips.net/video/7T9wexBjmtQ/видео.html
Allright, i like your project.
You got all the pieces from ECS tuning ( solenoid valve, button, wires, etc.) ??
I want to do the same
yes, they’re all from ECS Tuning. ECS has a “build your own kit” where you choose which button, exhaust size, etc
@@cartermaneki How much did you pay for it?
Will this help tone down my full decat exhaust because it’s extremely loud and my pops and bangs are always like gunshots but i want it to sound less egressive when driving normally and then then it on when at shows or meets etc. help would be appreciated as I’ve just spent lots of money and want a way to have best of both worlds?
Get nice mufflers and put a cutout in before. This cutout only has two options, exhuast as you already have it, or straight pipe out the cutout
This is going to sound dumb but you don't need to weld anything for this right?
what device was that on your left side driver window?
Cobb accessport
How did you bounce off the rev limiter with it being a manual car??
Gabriel Flores my tune is via the Cobb Accessport, it has an adjustable primary and secondary rev limiter built in with my tune. I have the “launch control” rev limiter set to 3500rpm. While stopped I simply had the clutch in and pressed the gas to increase the engine rpm until it reached 3500 where the ecu then cut fuel and spark to maintain that rpm.
what device was that next to your steering wheel on the window
Cobb accessport
Hey man, hopefully you see this. So I’ve got a Mk7 GTI w IS38 APR that I just got back on the road…and my exhaust cutout isn’t working. I wish I had gotten the in-car button but when I bought the ECS kit at the time I don’t believe they were offering…only the silly remote switch…I actually just bought all new remotes for it with all new electronics and vacuum hose and it should solve my problem. Don’t know why I’m telling you this as it is completely unrelated to why I’m writing here. So I noticed you had a PCV delete with catch can…since I have replaced two factory PCV deals bc the little bladder gets small tears…AND have recently noticed more oil buildup in my boost pipes and inter cooler than I’m comfortable with…would you say this setup like you have would be a good way to go?
TBH I’ve always laughed at the whole idea of catch cans…they seem to be such a rice-boy unnecessary mod…but being that I’m getting oil in my intercooler maybe I should change my thinking on it…just wanted your opinion as to if this is a necessary upgrade…thanks.
why it stick out so far
This is going to sound nuts, I have. A multi an with the same engine. Pretty rare, T.5.2 but the same engine, also called a TSI350 or TSI and I want som good sound but it’s had to sort something out as the length of the can quiets it down and wondering if there is an easy place to put a cutout in or if one would exist... any takers folks. I’m in Aus and wondering if the UK or German fans have any ideas.

please let me know the size of mm and insh is 2.25 or not its 57mm or not the name and site you bought it from can you reply thanks a lot
OMAR GALALY this particular one is the 60mm, which is the stock exhaust pipe size. I have a link to the product in the description!
The oem exhaust on all mk6 is 65mm or 2.56 inches
Is it still working good? Any issues?
G. AVENUE -OFFSET MALLORY I have had it on since the end of July and it still works as good as the day I installed it with no issues!
Get an Akrapovic exhaust next.
Do you have anything on your car that is making it pop so much.
it is catless and tuned by Stratified
If you wanna hear something pop for real. Your engine needs to be equipped with MPI (Multi Port Injection). Problem is, its something only equipped here on Europe VW's. Im from Sweden. Check my GTI Clubsport btw! Its being modded at the moment 👍
Sounds less like a fart can, nice.
Did you retain or remove your resonator? Id love to install this where the resonator is but want to the resonator for quietness when the cutout is closed.
Im looking into adding this between the resonator and the muffler. not sure if there is enough transition to make this work. I think a res delete is too annoying (adds drone) but the muffler delete sounds best. just my opinion from what i see on the videos.
@@zactastic4life I removed the resonator. It doesn't sound horrible cutout closed but I've not driven on the freeway to see if there is drone. I may try a 6" resonator after the cutout. Not much room and alot of it's a bend so will have to see if I can make it work.
Hey I just ordered one, do you have to worry about puddles, water with it?
Hey man i got the same setup, does the insane vibration annoy you too or just me?
its pretty gay, sounds like a slow ass vw that needs exhaust
@@trillrifaxegrindor4411 doesn’t really answer my question. And my car ain’t slow...
focus st muffler tip lmao ???
Can u send me the link to buy it i want to put this on my seat
This video is old, just look up “ECS Exhaust cut out”
it’ll come up, trust me.
“It is important to note that in order to properly install the Double Apex switch you will need
to cut and modify the wiring harness which comes with the ECS rocker switch” This is what ECS has on the instructions for wiring in the solenoid to the switch. Could you explain how you went about completing this.
there was a small black box that came with the kit that needed to be wired into the switch and wiring. It came with instructions in the kit. It was very straightforward. You could set it up so either the cutout is open until you press the button, or it’s closed until your press the button.
@@cartermaneki do you know if ECS makes an electrical one probably not since I can’t find one just thought I’d ask you maybe you know
What size 2.5?
this was the 60mm, which is what the OE stainless exhaust is on the GTI.
That exhaust tip is hideous, dude. Doesn’t suit a VW
Good thing it’s not your car then aye
@@TidyMk6 that’s it bro.
Strongly disagree. Is it still operating well?
Das me 🥵
Downshift sounded like one of those old fcked up vw van that is misfiring
Crackle = good
Gunshoots = bad and being pulled over
Turbo cars are so quiet!
The twist cap things are Satan's way of saying f u to the next guy that's got to fix some other dudes mistakes.
It sounding like a gun is not "good"
Not much difference 😢
Sounds like back pressure too much fart noise
what the f*ck is that tip dude
Why not just do electric? It’s so much more simple
the electric motors on electric cutouts are not only considerably more bulky and heat sensitive, thus more prone to failure. The electronics on a vacuum actuated cutout are mounted remotely and away from sources of extreme heat. Neither option is a bad choice!
why the fuck is there a sticker on your front windshield?
bad shopping experience on this website your customer service is very rude I do not recommend buying anything
