Jerry, I haven’t played chess for more than a decade and I accidentally came across your channel. I never thought to watch chess analysis videos and if so it wouldn’t definitely be in any different language than my native language but since I watched you for the first time then surprisingly I really enjoy watching more and more of your videos than anything else. I started to love chess again and learnt here a lot. I was so good at chess in comparison to my local group at that time while we just learnt how to play on our own and effort! I feel so much more confident now to play again for fun after learning much more basic principles and tactics here from your videos. I really love how you break down the tactics and explain it smoothly and in order. Very often I’m the one of those people who don’t comment or even make a like on videos but I commented here to say well done to you. Keep the good work. God bless you!
Nice game by the young Tal! I recently bought several books with game collections from old champions. Tal is one of the champions I want to study. I can't wait to get to his games! Thanks for this gem! Cheers!
I've tried to watch some videos of MIkhail tal's play from different channel. but it wasn't just appealing. i hope you will make videos of Mikhail tal's play Good luck Jerry.
For 20. Rb1, I think the reply is rook takes c3 attacking the queen and forcing either Qa2/d1 or rook takes queen- anything else is mate in two or less. Qa2/d1 is met with Rb3 and black is simply up a piece, RxQ is met with RxQ and white has to take a tempo to defend back rank, allowing the black bishop to escape and black is again up a piece
They say that (for humans anyway), after the backwards attack of a piece, the horizontal move of the Queen is the most overlooked kind of move in Chess. So it seems to have proven here - tho the Queen + Rook threatening mate on both the 7th or 8th Rank is a familiar configuration. Thanx Jerry.
@@MrSupernova111 Whew! That’s a good question. I was given a slew of (now old) chess books by my brother in law’s late father. Also I might have read it in my Oxford Companion to Chess. Again, I believe there is a book titled specifically “Common Blunders in Chess” or something like that. I’m moving this late summer, so I’ll keep an eye out for you when I sort through that bear!
I wish the Magician had taken better care of himself, It's so sad to me that he died so young. He would be 87 today, and probably still bringing us exciting games. Heck, he might have even beaten Magnus on occasion
Right, not surprising! A Tal game where he plays the Berlin defence or the Exchange variation of the Slav without sacrificing anything would be more of a surprise!?
Great as ever. Please, do a Tal repertoire of game analysis if you'd consider it useful Jerry, especially because I love Tal's games. Also? With this precise incisions into the game, when are you thinking of becoming World Champion yourself!? 🏆
yeah saddly after Rxf2 I think queen c1 is a cold shower... that's the first line I calculated and I was really hyped when I saw that Qxf2 loses to Qxb1+ and then you trade queens then drop the bishop on c8 because even they try to pin you with the rook you're not in any danger... Of course I saw what happened when the king takes but yeah if white side steps the threats you havd nothing left. I found Rxc3 shortly after when I tried to make Rxf2 work, thinking there might be some back rank shenanigans and felt I was chocking on my own foot when tacking the f pawn
They deleted my crab hand comment. I thought it was a good, wholesome, honest comment. Not much cheekiness to it. I formally respect this legend of a world champion. Some legends blaze the trail to new theory. And some legends, like ol crab hand, are so talented that other players fall by the wayside trying to follow in their footsteps.
I love these pre-engine era games.
Agreed
Me too !
I also love it!
Everyone else plays Chess.
Tal plays Immortal.
Jerry always gets me with the classic "that's all for now". I don't want that to be all for now, blast it 😢
I was able to follow that game without my brain hurting.
Your videos are the best chess has to offer.
Calling out the pawn structure as a solid defense against an open file was very instructive, thank you!
These kind of tactics are rating changers
Tal games are always fun, you should make a new series or something!
Jerry you are the best, really enjoy it❤
Thank you Colin
A typical Tal attack from the youngster. It is a fascinating chapter in his book. Thanks Jerry.

Wonderful Game Tal Mikhail one of my Favorite players of all time always exciting play with Tal Nice execution Thanks Jerry
And that was the beginning of a legendary career.
Thank you - always enjoy your streams and content.
This Tal guy looks very promising. He might have a future in chess.
Great video as always Jerry, been loving the content these past few weeks.

This is a gem to come up with, thank you. And instructive, as ever
Thank you Jerry ! Simple but powerful game. I would love to see some Alekhine stuff from you if you could please.
Fantastic! Always love your analysis Jerry 😊
Awesome, extremely enjoyable and very instructive.
Idk what we did to deserve all this Jerry content, but I’m here for it.
Another upload from Jerry and a Tal game at that.
Christmas came early this year. 😊
Great stuff! Tal always inspires! 👍🏽👏
thanks Jerry. hoping my comment will stimulate the algorithm in ur favour
Each viewed game of top players brings some benefit
To the 20.Rb1 tactic I would say Rxc3?
I've tried to watch some videos of MIkhail tal's play from different channel. but it wasn't just appealing.
i hope you will make videos of Mikhail tal's play
Good luck Jerry.
Thank you chess network. Still waiting for your 10 min games arena
Others have one or two Immortal games.
All of Tal's are. :)
That is true
Thanks Jerry!

18...Rxf3 isn't a sacrifice, just a down trade (or whatever it's called) as he's opening up two lines. It's simple yet beautiful.
It is called an exchange sacrifice lol
@@Nafghar yes! That's the term I couldn't remember.

I always miss queens moving laterally. Our brains are so trained to move pieces forward to attack the enemy.
@@John_NYT True. Deadly when you ignore that in chess.
Where did you read this? I'd like to see a collection with move types that are often overlooked.

Lots of "not the best" moves, lots of lovely finished games by Tal

Thank you for watching Andy. 👍
Doubtful Kolmov would make such bad moves if it wasn't a simultaneous game. Entertaining anyway.
Hi Jerry from Seattle
I don't think kids are as cruel these days. But having a crab hand as a kid in those days must have been a nightmare.

can you find fischers first game
I couldn’t find the tactic and I tried analyzing it on lichess and after Rxc3 Black as cxb5. What am I missing?
What move number?
thx for the game

Does Emory Tate have any interesting games worth reviewing?
Rxc3
Rb1 Rxc3 is the move taking advantage of the back rank although I'm a much bigger fan of Rxf2 (Kxf2 Qc5+) and winning the double rook endgame instead

Terrible game from this "Master"; wasn't he just losing the whole way to a 12 year old?
Was a simul, perhaps he didn't take the 12 year old seriously initially.
Well, the 12 year old was Mikhail Tal, and it was a simul
It reminds me of Byrne, who was slaughtered by a young Bobby Fischer. Byrne did not play badly but he was up against a Wunderkind.
