Hey everyone. I've got some bad news. It may be a while until I can make a video using NFS Unbound to discuss and update theories. I'm simply not in a great financial position right now, and most of my money for food. So even though Unbound is currently on sale for a whopping 50% off, I'm unable to buy it without going a few days without food. This can be mitigated if people join my Patreon or my Channel Membership, as I will be more able to provide the content you want for just £1 a month. All of the money I earn through these means will go straight back into the upkeep of the channel, which means new games and equipment to improve video quality and content. That, and I members will be able to view select videos a week early. £1 a month. That's all I ask.
Let's see. 1. Looks like a beauty 2. Handles like a beauty 3. Sounds like a beauty 4. Monstrous acceleration 5. Because of the connection you make to the car in MW 05. It is "our" car and the player tears apart the blacklist just to get it back.
The other reason you forgot to mention was that NFS Most Wanted 2005 is still the best selling NFS of all time, selling 16 million copies (probably even more than that figure). The car has been exposed to so many people, so there's more fans of the car itself.
Not to mention the Black Box era of NFS games was the highpoint of the series (if we forget everything after ProStreet). We look back at the better days and the M3 GTR is at the centre of that.
The engine sounds of the BMW GTR M3 in Most Wanted 2005 is so cathartic. And the reason we love it is because of that sound and a unique paint job unique similar to Paul Walkers Skyline in 2Fast 2Furious. They both had a silver and Blue paint job. (No it's not white and blue)
the game did a good job of establishing that this car is "mine". Razor stealing it, makes me want to get it back. And the fact that I had to grind and beat all the blacklists racers just to get my car back, gives a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. I worked hard to get this ride back, and it has a sentimental value to me. That's why it's an iconic car! I believe the developers need to capture the kind of spirit NFSMW2005 had and apply it to the newer games. The sense of accomplishment and satisfaction given to the players...
I think also is the fact that this was based off a real life racecar from 2001 and they only made 6 of these for street use. Also you cannot buy the engine.
Believe or not, this BMW M3 GTR has similarities with Nissan Skyline GTR R34 Brian 2Fast2Furious in terms of color scheme silver and blue as well as vinyl livery.
well my reason is 1: beautiful car 2: beautiful paint 3: unlike other car from the series like a r34 the m3 gtr back view is so beautiful 4: it's your car and you need to win in back because it's gorgeous 5: the most beautiful car in the nfs mw itself probably that's the reason they excluded the r34 in the final run so the m3 would shine 6: sound that gearbox screaming sound 7: the paint job again and beautiful back view lol 8: beautiful bodykit
Apart from the fact that it's subtly aggressive without overdoing it, it's super unique, very little people expected to see a E46 BMW in a NFS game back then, it also has the good boy vibes, it looks angelic even in a sense, light colors, geometric sporty lines, it looks clean. Whoever styled it is a mad genius.
Well, with the newer versions of the car, they didn’t use the TVR motor sound like they did with MW and Carbon. And you only got the gear whines if you put in the 8 speed, for some stupid reason.
Excellent breakdown, you covered all the bases, most forget that in Carbon the car was basically martyred and we never could get it back. For me, the story is reversed. I played HP2, then UG2, THEN Carbon, skipping most wanted because I wasnt aware of the story. Fell in love with the M3 GTR in Carbon, then heard about Most Wanted. I played that game, and I was more driven than EVER to get it back, but given how Carbon ended and we couldnt even keep Darius's car in career mode, I never expected us to ACTUALLY get it back in career mode.....so.. Imagine my surprise when I finished that final pursuit, and loaded back into the garage to see it sitting there.... I literally screamed, and my parents thought something was horribly wrong until I explained it and they rolled their eyes and walked away cuz they just didnt get it... For me, Most Wanted will always be the better game of the two. Im actually playing it right now with some update mods applied to it to bring the graphics to looking more current gen. And its just as much fun as I remember. Its the game that keeps on giving, and always will be there, for the memories we had, and new ones we are about to make.
Loved the car so much I bought the closes I could get to. Definitely got me in to the car-community. I got a 2000 330ci coupe in Topaz-Blau, with pretty much every option box checked and I love it so much. Then you could say, you could have got an M3. Yes, but I live in Denmark and with the crazy taxing and car prices it is unrealistic. Kind of regret not buying and importing one from Germany back then, the prices of the M3’s have tripled since I started looking.
I’ve stumbled across you videos and thank you for these! I think the other reason we love it over a Lambo or a 350z is because the M3 GTR wasn’t only ours in (let’s be honest, the only real game named) NFS Most Wanted and then stolen from us. But also because the “normal” M3 is an “attainable” car - it’s likely someone’s dad had one. But the M3 GTR represents an unattainable version of a car we can buy. We can get something similar but we can’t really buy a real M3 GTR. Nothing was ever made like it either. It struck a balance between what is reachable as a car fan and a myth. For many a Lambo is something we will never own, the 350z is easy to get. The M3 GTR though, that’s a different beast and it was ours!
Out of all the hero cars in nfs over the years, this is the one car that we can never drive in real life. That is part of the reason that it's so iconic. The closest you get is the strassenversion but that is a nerfed down street version and there have been made less than 10 total.
I hate Razor because he cheating on us and also we must beat all the worst blacklist, and now we already brought back our BMW M3 GTR and also that car can be say it's most fast and also that car machine voice is very beautiful, this is why I always use that car rather than others
Bcs: 1. BMW M3 GTR have the look of hero car from my personal stand point. Even in every other NFS games you can always find this car with exact livery there. It extend even to GT7 or other gaming franchise that have m3 csl or GTR. Theres always a way someone recreate the M3 GTR. 2. NFS MW 2005 is such a simple street racing game with simple concept. You beat 15 blacklist to the top and finally get your 1st car back with extra performances. Idk how EA not see how simple NFS 2005 story is and just make it overcomplicated and questionable cinematic story. Making this csr much more specials. 3. The car return as final reward again in NFS Heat and its so justified, apmost every youtubers thst huge fan of NFS immediately recognize the car. Proof this still the best hero car of NFS franchise. 4. M3 GTR have IRL legend as "porsche killer" in circuits. And when the real M3 GTR retired in 2005 it legacy resumes in the gaming world lol. Way more than many of circuit cars ever. And actually beating Porache in mainstream popularity 5. The IRL street modifications scenes. I'm from SEA where M3 or many european/american cars mostly imported not having local factory/mabufacturers here. The only chance i see these cars usually in few cars modifications expo. Whenever i see a M3, its always NFS MW M3 replica. I see 3 cars trying to be M3 GTR, 1 is almost have exact performances but no wide bodykit. 1 is almost exact replica except the engine and interiors. 1 is almost perfect even the best looking bodykits and bbs rims. But not having V8 and the exhaust door. This 3 cars have almost identical color & livery, spoilers, stickers, and other visual modifications. NFS M3 GTR look is almost traditions by this point bcs of these e46 M3 Owner.
The protagonist is a wanted criminal and by the end of Carbon he runs the street racing scene in Palmont. Why would he throw that away and risk exposure by showing up on race events?

Simple answer, this is a real car and not a boring rice bowl.

The car so iconic, it shaped us to be a car guy and be more passionate about cars. Timeless car imo.

They made 10 road versions, yes
Well, all street versions were hidden from world (destroyed obviously) so only racecars rested

Honestly the only other iconic car I could think of would be the Gallardo, but even that one is more of a MW 05 royalty and still shadowed by the GTR.
When I think of Lamborghini Diablo I think of hot pursuit
Because this car is our childhood dream car that beats lightning McQueen
we love it cause we defeated the whole black list to get it back
