Mark suffers from dissociative identity disorder (d.i.d.). While the writers took quite a few creative liberties with the depiction of d.i.d., I've heard from a couple of people (a couple of therapists, plus one person who actually lives with d.i.d.) that they did a good and respectful job depicting it.
I just love how Jake Lockley is like a protector of Steven and Marc, in situations they cant handle. That sarcophagus had Jake in it, which was trying to get out. Wonder how many more personalities there are.
This show is so underrated, many of us wanted a season 2 so bad. But it's on up in the air for now. I loved Oscar Isaac's performance, and i even liked Layla.
One thing that clearly stands out for this show is the original soundtrack. Hesham Nazih did an outstanding job and nailed it. Also the people responsible for song choices also nailed their task.
One clarification: both Steven and Marc are personalities of Marc [who is the main person] the younger brother was named Russell, and is neither of any of the personalities.
The first comic appearance of Moon Knight was in Werewolf by Night, in which Marc Spector was former special forces turned mercenary who was hired by a shady organization to hunt the werewolf. They gave him a moon themed costume with crescent moon shaped silver knives. He realized that the organization wasn't acting in his best interest and decided to give up the hunt, but didn't return the suit. His next appearance was in a few issues in which they tried him as a main character. Marc was a wealthy mercenary, though most people thought he was a retired businessman. He realized that people are more forthcoming with information around people they relate to, so he used a cover named Steven who was a scholar and could get leads from intellectuals, and a cover named Jake who was a rough cab driver in the lower class neighborhood. And of course, when it was time to fight the bad guys, he dressed as Moon Knight. Later he got his own regular book, but the alternate identities were no longer just Marc having a cover, he actually had d.i.d. and each alternate was leading a life of its own.
You mentioned Echo in front of this... Alaqua Cox who plays Echo is an indigenous, deaf and amputee martial arts expert... Hawkeye was her first tv, movie experience ever! Marvel put the casting request out... and all her friends told her to go for it. She did and was shocked when Marvel got a hold of her agent...
Oscar Issac did a phenomenal job acting switching from one character to another in the blink of an eye. Ethan Hawk and the rest of the cast did great too but Oscar stood out. Yes you are correct. Mark has a third personality, Jake who is the personality that defeated Author when Mark blacked out and neither Mark nor Steven knows what happened. If you listen well Jake appeared 2 to 3 times along the way. In the knife fight and also when he was in the psych ward talking to Dr Author
One of my fave MCU TV shows. Felt a bit rushed at the end but I didn't know about the character so the whole split personality angle was really interesting. I don't think we'll get it but it's one of the shows I'd like to see more of. The idea of Konshu dealing with different personalities (with different abilities) behind the others backs is cool, especially if one is a murderous psychopath, which I heard the personality Jake Lockley is in the comics.
Jake is only like that in 1 of the comic runs, which is generally disliked. In all the other runs he’s chill. He’s just a cab driver, not some hitman. He’ll fight if he needs to but he’s not particularly bloodthirsty or anything. In the comics, Marc is the one with the bad reputation. Also in the comics Steven is a rich business man, he’s very confident unlike the show version. Though both the show and comic versions of Steven don’t like to fight. The Mr. knight suit is not tied to Steven in the comics either, any of them can wear it. Mr. Knight is his more casual suit he wears when he doesn’t need the cape. It was originally created as a sort of legal loophole for him to be able to work with the police, as it was a different identity not tied to the original moon knight suit. Though everyone knows it’s the same guy underneath. Marc is the one who was a former soldier/mercenary and has the most trauma and tends to do all the fighting. This is pretty accurate in the show. In the comics Marc, Steven, and Jake are all aware of each other and work together most of the time. Also in the comics he does not have powers most of the time. Though Khonshu can give him temporary powers as well as revive him. Those are the most notable differences, regarding moon knight himself at least. The other characters besides Khonshu are original or only share a name with a comic character but are completely different otherwise.
I loved this show, but don't think I can rewatch it. The mental health aspect is so heavy it is hard to watch due to personal reasons. But aside from the that, Oscar's performance is so amazing I am disappointed there hasn't been as much talk about his performance as I feel there should be. Also: I hope the best for you Kazzy!!!!! I know you have been dealing with SO much that it isn't just unfair, but it is specifically unfair for someone as wonderful as you. ❣❤♥❤❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹
That entire conversation is hilarious as a confused vegan orders steak for the first time. Steven didn’t even understand he had an option as to how it was cooked. He and the waiter are completely mistaking what the other says: W: What cut of steak? SG: The very best bit. W: Center-cut fillet. How would you like it? (Choosing the most expensive cut and then asking how SG wants the steak cooked). SG: Yeah, good. Very good. Very good. Yeah. (Complimenting the waiter’s choice of fillet when he thought he was asked how he would like one). W: I’ll… I’ll put you down for well done. (Thinking SG meant well done when he said he wanted the fillet cooked very good). SG: Okay. Alright. (Thinking the waiter was going to write down the compliment he gave him).
Not really. There is no way Disney would’ve allowed the real Moon Knight story to be told. The story was focused on his D.I.D instead of the brutal nature of Moon Knight. This show got a lot of praise and definitely gave more light on this obscure character.
We don't live in the ages of fox or Sony. It's the mcu baby. This was it. All these phase 4 heroes are gonna buried in obscurity for who knows how long after this. Mcu is not going to take risks going forward. They'll pay high to familiar actors and hero characters instead all of what transpired in phase 4

This is a wonderful example of writers getting the comic character’s story correct

Fun fact: Oscar Isaac’s brother, Michael Hernandez, was his body double for the filming.
Mark's brother is called Rossel
If you haven't watched the FX series Legion, I highly recommend it. It's a few seasons of stuff that messes with your head more than this does.
Yup.

This.
Nice. Best Marvel video content ever created. Nuff said.
"Killing him alive" is a new saying hahaha
Moon Knight was Marvel's version of Batman but with actual mental illness and PTSD. When I first read the comics I couldn't get enough.
You're the best!

I appreciate you and thank you for making content.
Episode 5 always breaks my heart. Oscar Isaac is an incredible actor.
Hi Kazzy , I'm glad I got to see your reaction to moon knight 🤍🌙
Glad to see this.

I really enjoyed this show and glad you are watching it.
I got steelbook blu-ray and it is absolutely beautiful cover.
Looking forward to your Echo reaction!
This is the one Marvel hero I wouldn't want to be.
Too chaotic.
I love watching you try to figure where this is going...knowing that you never will. ;)
Hi girl good series hope your well and happy hope to hear from you in the future 🥰💘❤
Wow. I was not expecting this. 🙂
How you know this is a mind fuck is a waiter recommending a well done steak.

Plot Twist: ALL of the MCU is actually inside of Marc head…
will you do a full series reaction to Andor?

hawkeye sucks lol
The way moonknight was nerfed in this show was wild
Feige really effed up

And with more r-rated films happening a better story for MOONKNIGHT can be told
