"I'm fixin' to hurt myself"...Hahah!! "Fixin' to..." When I was a little girl, a family moved in across the street and they were from Ohio (I'm in TN). When the lady asked me how old I was, I replied, "I'm fixin' to be nine!" She had never heard anyone talk like that! She laughed about that for years. I had no idea that other people might find those words strange. What a delicious supper!
I have only grown tomatoes and peppers this year but they have done beautifully. If my Daughter was still with us she would be begging me to make her some fried green tomatoes. She loved them so much. Everything looked delicious and I am glad Matt got his fried green tomatoes.
Your efficiency in the kitchen is almost hypnotizing to watch . All the food looks so delicious and makes me hungry . And you have taught your gracious skills to your family too . A wonderful homemaker . Much respect !
What a wonderful supper, i felt like i was right there helping. I don’t know all that fancy cooking but know this type of just good old home cooking, as Matt says, I am fixing to hurt myself. Everything looked so good. I think we really eat our food with our eyes first then dive into the goodness. Tipper, thank you for inviting us to supper and an evening of family and wonderful food. God bless
Your fried green tomatoes look perfect to me, just the perfect amount of breading! Fried to a crispy perfection! I always fry up some yellow squash too! And if I really want to guilt the lilies I make some crackling cornbread. Yumm yumm
I love listening to you and Matt❣️ It feels like listening to my family. We live in central, rural Oklahoma, but we sound a lot alike, when it comes to a southern accent. My parents, both, grew up in rural areas, so many of your words and phrases are familiar to me. My granny used the word Cattywampus all the time. 😅 My maternal grandmother lived in SE rural Oklahoma and raised gardens and canned everything. So, when you talk, garden, can etc. it feels like I’m visiting with family.💞 Thank you so much for sharing your lives with us. It feels like home.🥰
Tipper/Matt, I love seeing what and how you cook. I'm almost 60 and it reminds me of what my mom and her family in Oklahoma used to cook. It brings back so many memories of my childhood

I love good fried green tomatoes! Sometimes in restaurants, they leave something to be desired, but yours look perfect! Thanks for sharing this with us.
My grandmother's always used butter because of having homemade butter on hand.. She would melt a little butter and roll them in it and salt and pepper and roast in oven.. OOOHHHHH HOW DELICIOUS IT WAS!!!❤❤
That sure is a yummy looking supper! My daughter is the fried green tomato eater in our family. She absolutely loves them. Matt is so funny after he makes his plate and says that he’s fixing to hurt his self. I know this will probably make me sound crazy to y’all but, I have had deer meat every which way you can make it and it still just taste too wild to me so, I don’t eat it but my husband and kids like it. If Matt needs a snack tonight, he will be up getting him some of those fried green tomatoes if him and Austin don’t finish them off first. Hope y’all have a great rest of the week. How can anyone not love fried green tomatoes? Lol. You girls are purely missing out. You’ve got me inspired that I’m going to go pick me some for supper too.
Wonderful supper! I canned beef this past February as we were getting a new beef for the freezer, and we still had leftover beef from the year before. That's the way to go. It will last a long time canned than in the freezer. Plus. it is so easy to heat up and it is SO good and tender. New potatoes are my absolute favorite! Always have potatoes in the house. Such a versatile vegetable. Thanks so much for sharing Tipper!

Thank you for these moments in your life they resemble so many of the things that so many of us were raised on . Cornbread or biscuits and gravy were always on the table as were beans ,and some sort of potatoes. ❤️
I love, love, LOVE fried green tomatoes! When I was little my Mom (who was from southern Virginia) would make them and ask me what we should have with them for supper. I would always tell her, "Nothing Mama! Just the tomatoes"! 😃 I still like fried green tomatoes all by themselves today!! Tell Matt leftover fried tomatoes are great for breakfast too! Heat them up and put them beside scrambled eggs....YUM! 😊

I love fried green tomatoes. I grew up on the West coast, but lived in Mississippi for 2 years. I love the food I was introduced to while i lived there. I grew up learning to cook from my mom and grandma. Some of my favorite meals are recipes from my Dad's mom and my mother.
Once Again it's A Fine Looking Meal.. I had never had Fried Green Tomatoes until I was an Adult, but I love them. Canned Dear SO YUMMY!! Fried New Potatoes SO GOOD!! ENJOYED THE VIDEO!!
Supper looked great. I've had new potatoes twice and green tomatoes once so far. I don't have a garden ( just spring onions) but am lucky I have many Amish and Mennonite veggie stands nearby with reasonable prices. We've had sweet corn and a mess of green beans and ham that was delish. Also, wanted to say that the zucchini bread recipe in your cookbook is so delicious that I will be using that for my go to recipe from now on. Bless you all! 🙏🙏

Love me some fried green tomatoes. I cut mine into squares and then dribble a tiny bit of buttermilk over them, toss em around. Add white lily cornmeal mix and a tiny bit of self-rising flour. Toss to make sure they are dry. Fry in a deep cast iron dutch oven til golden brown. They are so delicious and do not absorb so much grease.
As I have mentioned, I am near Raleigh North Carolina and I cannot believe how far ahead we are in our harvesting. I have so many cucumbers and I have made so much of your cucumber recipes. But I think it’s great that you’re getting tomatoes.😊

My mom used to dice the green tomatoes and fry them in a skillet with sugar and a little water (to steam them) for breakfast. Cover and mash them a little when they get soft to make a jam. Love them on biscuits.
Mother would always chop up one green tomato to fry in the okra. I think of her every time I see (or eat) fried green tomatoes. Thanks for sharing super with us!
I'm with Matt on a good supper and then a nice snack before bed. Supper sure looked good Tipper. It's 10 to 10 at night in central Canada and I'm going for the before bed snack already, even though I don't go to bed until midnight. Can't help myself after watching that yummy looking supper you folks had. A blessed night to all the family.
What a wonderful meal. I actually used your cubed steak recipe tonight from the cookbook it was delicious. I love cornbread but I grew up on buttermilk cornbread I will try your recipe. Granny and Mamma used buttermilk for everything. The would coat chicken and green tomato’s in it and then the flour or cornmeal and fry it’s so good. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Matt ,Tipper & Family So nice to see you cook this awesome Meal …i love fried green tomatoes…. Mamaw & Momma made them fir us It’s the season & I’m sure Matt was delighted to eat them 🤗 I mix and fry mines just like you do Tipper!!! Salt & pepper is just the right taste😋
I guess it’s the Louisiana in me, but I gotta have some garlic powder and onion powder in my flour or corn meal. 😂 I have never seasoned the egg wash though, learned something new again from you Tipper! Looks like a feast and I cannot wait to get some deer this year! I canned one quart last year just to try it and I’m hooked!! ❤ you have enriched my life so much ! Thank you! ❤
Matt said, you sure that’s all the green tomatoes we need??? I bet he’d of let you fry up that whole row! 😂 Goodness, that meal Looks so delicious! I love your cutting board. One day when Matt retires maybe he can make some cutting boards for us to buy. You could get you a brand made and burn it into the wood. That’s what I was thinking when I was looking at your board while you were cutting.
Jo Hubbard.. Mom would dig new potatoes. I would scrape them, parboil them then put them in a HOT skillet with bacon grease salted and bake them until really brown…..oh my, oh my…de-licious!!!❤
What a wonderful supper tipper the green 🍅 s look real good and good o Matt showed up just in time 😊.im glad corie her wonderful better half came to dinner and Katie to .i hope granny and Paul are staying cool in this o heat .cant wait for story time tomorrow see ya then tipper
I love watching you all! Growing up we never breaded green tomatoes or squash.... my momma just dusted them with flour and salt and pepper. It was so good and I still just fix them this way today!
Looks great tipper! I heard when canning deer if you put lots of garlic in it, it will not be as gamey. ❤. Learned if you refrigerate potatoes rice and pasta it will lower the glycemic index! 🎉
Nice to see Matt got his fried green tomatoes. That's pretty much how I make them. I didn't do too many tomatoes this year. Odd spring weather so I got a late start. Almost didn't even bother, it was so cold and wet. But do have some Early Girl ripening. Not the best tomato but reliable. Nice to see everyone enjoying fruits of the garden after all that hard work. Hello from very hot Oregon.
What a Beautiful home cooked meal, diner looks delicious. Growing potatoes in a grow bag looks like a good idea, I tried tomatoes last year trying to increase my crop but they never really grew well. I enjoy your channel. All the Best to you and your Family. God Bless
I love having my garden right out in the front of my house. I can run out there quick and grab something to add to dinner. :) I need to try to make some fried green tomatoes. I love them but I've never made them myself.
I love to take small, unpeeled boiled potatoes, set em on a baking sheet, smash em flat-ish, pour melted butter over them, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme or rosemary. Set them under the broiler for about 20 minutes or so til crispy, and ENJOY!! SO delicious, and simple!!
I guess it’s just different climates, but here in Oklahoma, I am getting a lot of ripe cucumbers, but none of my tomatoes are red yet. I only have 4 plants and all are beefsteaks. My son has lots of cherry tomatoes, though.
We love fried green tomatoes, but I'm not good at frying them up in a skillet. So I've started fixing them in the deep fryer, and they come out crispy and delicious every time.
That wonderful food all looked delicious! I’m not fond of restaurant fried green tomatoes because they always have a thick batter, you fixed them just like mama did…& she fried squash that same way…glad Matt got his fried green tomatoes ❤
I have the same dishes pattern that the tomatoes are sitting in. They were my mawmaw and pawpaws and I think of them when I eat from those dishes daily
You've got to do a video of Matt showing and explaining his woodsman/bushcraft/hunting loadouts in relationship to the terrain/environment of southern Appalachia. PS- Enjoyed the show...!!

Goodness, that meal Looks so delicious! I love your cutting board. One day when Matt retires maybe he can make some cutting boards for us to buy. You could get you a brand made and burn it into the wood. That’s what I was thinking when I was looking at your board while you were cutting.
I met elderly couple back in late 60s and they gave me a homemade jar of green tomatoes 🍅 jam..oh it was so good😊
Jo Hubbard.. Mom would dig new potatoes. I would scrape them, parboil them then put them in a HOT skillet with bacon grease salted and bake them until really brown…..oh my, oh my…de-licious!!!❤

Those fried green tomatoes look so good! I love them so much.
Fantastic meal exciting to get from your garden 😀 God bless everyone 🙏
I love watching you all! Growing up we never breaded green tomatoes or squash.... my momma just dusted them with flour and salt and pepper. It was so good and I still just fix them this way today!
Thank you 😊
Looks great tipper!
Oh my! Yall had a GREAT dinner!
I like to pick the cucumbers when they're still small for pickles
What a Beautiful home cooked meal, diner looks delicious. Growing potatoes in a grow bag looks like a good idea, I tried tomatoes last year trying to increase my crop but they never really grew well. I enjoy your channel. All the Best to you and your Family. God Bless
Looks like a wonderful family meal!
I love having my garden right out in the front of my house. I can run out there quick and grab something to add to dinner. :) I need to try to make some fried green tomatoes. I love them but I've never made them myself.
Your cooking always makes me hungry😊
I love to take small, unpeeled boiled potatoes, set em on a baking sheet, smash em flat-ish, pour melted butter over them, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme or rosemary. Set them under the broiler for about 20 minutes or so til crispy, and ENJOY!! SO delicious, and simple!!
Sounds great!
@@CelebratingAppalachia Annnd right after I wrote that, you mentioned it on the video🥴. Sorry for jumpin the gun …
That sounds great 😊
Everything looks delicious. And everything from the earth so good.
I ordered your cookbook. I can't wait to get. This looked just like a feast from when I was a child. Yummy.
Awesome! Thank you!
Looks delicious Tipper. Good home cooking.
That wonderful food all looked delicious! I’m not fond of restaurant fried green tomatoes because they always have a thick batter, you fixed them just like mama did…& she fried squash that same way…glad Matt got his fried green tomatoes ❤
Your garden is beautiful, Tipper, and watching you cook makes me hungry and sparks ideas on fun new things to try.
Good looking supper! Especially those fried green tomatoes. The tomatoes were a beautiful shade of green. Nature is magnificent.
I have the same dishes pattern that the tomatoes are sitting in. They were my mawmaw and pawpaws and I think of them when I eat from those dishes daily
😀
Mercy what a spread. Tipper you've done it again!
Everything looks Delicious Tipper. I miss that Type of Eating. Rock On!
You've got to do a video of Matt showing and explaining his woodsman/bushcraft/hunting loadouts in relationship to the terrain/environment of southern Appalachia. PS- Enjoyed the show...!!
