Hi Jeri, although it has been a long time since I've commented I just want you to know that I never miss a video and am always inspired by you to plant, create, cook and enjoy each day as the wonderful gift that it is. I finally bought a new computer, got a new account and am back in business! You knew me as Cheryl McNeely (my daughter and I came to your show in Asheville last year, love the little book!) I still don't know what to request for new videos... you do such a great job as it is! As the world gets a little stranger each day your channel remains a place of peace and beauty. Many thanks! Love and hugs! Cheryl

I had that lunch box too! I am 69 and carried it to school in the 2nd grade , so around 1957 or 58. It was my second lunchbox and had the metal thermos with the glass inside. Sometime they would break if you were rough on your lunchbox or dropped it. I was always very careful . They started making the thermos out of plastic for that reason I think. My first lunchbox was white with pink butterflies, probably kindergarten. We went all day and took a nap on these little cots. It’s funny the things you remember. Now if I could just remember where I set my garden tools down.

Hello there! Yes, those duckies are growing so fast that I'm no longer worried about the threat of our garden snake... who lurks beneath the garlic stalks looking for a meal. He has to eat slugs and lizards, ducklings are not on the menu.

  • @livilou6165

You are right about the wild roses I think they smell better than any other, oh the ducklings are so precious, I also had a Pitty Pat, don’t know what is going on here in Alabama, our grass isn’t doing good, we have planted out garden two times so many skips, my flower seeds didn’t come up very well, I think we keep having cool days is the problem, your flowers and especially the Poppies are just beautiful, trying to give away an over abundance of Iris’s, can’t find any takers, I remember my grandmother telling me that was about the only way you got flowers years ago, was from family, friends and neighbors, guess people have more money now a days! lol..looking at the chicken wire, was pulling on some that was stuck with leaves and dirt took a bad fall now having to visit the chiropractor for my shoulder so be careful, am loving watching the yummy things you have been cooking up, what tea would you suggest for sleep!🥰

What a lovely soothing video. Always enjoy each video and all the information you provide in each video. All the flowers are gorgeous but the peonies were stunning. I have had pasties on both trips to England. Very enjoyable for a quick lunch. The even have little carts or kiosks in many of the train stations and near some of the tourist area that sell several flavors. The company I remember was Cornwall Pastie Company.

Enjoyable and educational as usual. I have the same Tasha Tudor book. Look at all those poppy seed pods behind her! Probably my all time favorite seed pod. I’ve taken a dried one, drilled a hole in the side, part of a tooth pick for a perch, painted the pod, and there you have a miniature poppy bird house.

Another wonderful video! Your flowers and gardens look so beautiful! I loved seeing the baby ducks, and they are getting big! Your pasties looked wonderful! I have never eaten one before, but have made something similar. I thought your crust looked great being thicker. I have to say, I have the same lunchbox...and I also bought mine at an antique store. When I was a kid we had those Disney School Bus lunchboxes, which if I had kept it in pristine condition, go for a pretty penny these days. BUT, at some point I was too embarassed to take it to school so my mom painted over it all and I stuck horse decals on it haha. BUT I always wanted the plaid lunchbox so many years later as an adult I found one and bought it. I did not have a matching thermos in mine though. Thank you again for sharing your world with us! I saved your video to watch it special today!

When I grow sweet peas, I scar the outer shell of the seed and soak them for 24 hours. This not only speeds germination but assures a greater percentage of germination. Some people just wrap the scarred seed in wet paper towel before sowing in order to soften the seed. Good luck -- sweet peas are heaven sent!

I live in Australia’s little Cornwall . Cornish pasties are a part of life here . Settled by Cornish miners we have many of the customs still . The crust at the top of the pasty was made to be thrown away . It was used as a kind of handle to protect from the arsenic on hands used in the mining process . Also the iconic Aussie Aussie oy oy oy , comes from the mines where the miners would be called for crib ( meals ) with Oggy Oggy ( pasty) they’d answer oy oy oy to signify they’d heard

Gorgeous opening as always. I LOVE this series with the history of antique flowers! I'm in Atlanta and my sweet peas died. I didn't know they had more heat tolerant varieties, maybe I'll try those. Looking forward to the next video!!

Jeri, the poppies are beautiful & I can’t wait to see your sweet peas in bloom... one of my favorite flowers ( of so many😂) I have to tell you... I had the exact same plaid LUNCH BOX in grammar school! Also, like you, I saw one ( Goodwill outlet store) and snatched it up! My mother usually put beef barley soup in my thermos. I remember the clinking shattering of glass from dropping my lunchbox on the sidewalk.. no more soup for me! 😩 lol! Feels like we are kindred spirits even more now😍

My mother, bless her heart, was not very creative in the lunch packing department. Always a sandwich, a piece of fruit and a dessert. I can't even remember what she put in the thermos, probably OJ.

Isn't it wonderful to have fragrant bouquets again? I also love your daisies and beautiful blue cornflowers. Blue flowers have a special place in my heart, partly because they they are rare. I love this video. Good luck with your seedlings and sweet peas. Thank you so much for another wonderful video.

Hi jeri, I love your videos, and I am revisiting them at the moment it helps to get away with you these days!
I read somewhere that the miners would have meat and potatoes one end and jam the other end, isn’t that wonderful? You have inspired me to sort getting seeds and planning for next year, and being more creative again.
I also saw you had found Donna davies who lives in cape cod, loves the chateau diaries, I thought it was nice to see you commenting, best wishes from Kent, uk.

I've learned so much about the Pasties since making this video, it's been fun. I have an abundance of pears and will have to make some fruit Pasties soon. I enjoy Donna's channel, she is very calm, humble and talented.

Hi jeri, lovely video! I live in zone 5 and a few years ago found a perennial sweet pea for this zone, however.. it has no smell but covers my white picket fence all summer with so many blooms people stop and look at it. I give babies away each spring and seeds in the fall.

I used to read articles on Tasha Tudor in various magazines such as Victoria. I liked her life style. In Northern Minnesota we have the mines in the mountains. If there are mines there are Cornish people. Pasties are big in Minnesota and North Dakota. A really good meal. There are shops up north that the only thing they sell is pasties! And my Grandfather raised sweet peas. Heavenly aroma! Thank you for helping me remember these things. Be blessed!

    Another wonderful video Jeri.
Your pasties sure did look good.
So far from watching a number of your videos I have sown some alcea (hollyhock) seeds I asked my friend to send me from my parents in-laws old garden (dad's were always beautiful each year and an array of colours), zinnias, cosmos and I will yet sow lunaria. I've also sown some artichokes for the flowers and some veggies. I have many old seeds and I've a feeling that since we moved from Hampshire, UK up to Shropshire many of my seeds didn't like it. I just hope the sweetpea seeds are still good because I'd like to sow some if I get the time. Some of my favourites are 'Prince Edward of York', 'Matucana' 'Beaujolais' 'Lord Nelson' and 'Windsor'. All very highly scented. 🥰
