This may very well be Sir John Barry's most exquisite contribution to the 007 lore. Seriously. I know the actual Bond theme is attributed to him, but this is a masterpiece.
The magic of this piece: cold isolated space, military cadences, vocal choruses - ethereal. So many sensations hitting one's senses simultaneously. John Barry and Jerry Goldsmith know how to capture a moment in audio.
It may be one of the silliest cheesiest Bond movies ever made... but my god, when John Barry does a space themed filmscore its incredible. Love his work both on this and You Only Live Twice, my 2 fave Barry Bond scores.
Just bought John Barry's album... Haven't seen anyone for 4 days 👍ex has moved out... Dogs eating the carpet... I'm finding my soul.. the price we pay 👌
It's funny that with all the truly beautiful and amazing music John has composed that my favourite thing he ever did was the part that begins at 2:15 and appears at the end when Bond and Goodhead are chasing the probes. I always hear it in my head when I am under severe pressure with college work and it somehow always seems to get me through. It's an inspirational piece.
John Barry really had his finger on the pulse of the bond movies and his tracks really amped up the excitement which is sadly lacking in the newer ones
Flight Into Space is one of the best James Bond pieces ever. To see John Barry's music accompanied by ISS footage is moving. Thanks a lot for sharing this with us.
No, this is the scene when they travel in the space towards the space orbit station, remember. You can see it coming out from nowhere! And then they realize the station is invisible to the radar too.
John Barry makes one Masterpiece after another this music is absolutely Timeless and it fits the event, one of my favorite pieces from him was the space March in the double o seven movie You Only Live Twice
"At least I shall have the pleasure of putting you out of my misery. Desolated Mr. Bond ?" "Heartbroken Mr. Drax - allow me. Take a giant step for mankind !"
I remember the first time I heard john barry, my father took me to see king kong at the baker theatre in Dover new jersey in 1976, his music captured my attention and I haven't stopped listening since
all l can say that is John Barry at his ultimate best because in this piece of music you have a mixture of 4 types of mood in one superb piece of music and that is not easy to marry in harmony.!
great music-great video...john barry was one of the most important and influential musicians of the last century in my opinion...esp w/ the john barry seven but also w/out them-his music has this weird edge to it that makes it different to most other instrumental stuff...his music did not only insprire other soundtrack writers -i personally think it goes much further than this...he opened up a new dimension in my eyes...
I don't think you would want to be one of the spacemen in the battle though and that was another of his master pieces a very haunting sound to the space battle.
Whether or not you like Bond films, or even if Roger Moore is your least favourite Bond, there’s no taking away from Barry’s film score from this film. If there’s a better one then please let me know. I think Wagner would be impressed.
This must be the prettiest Song, John Barry ever wrote for 007.... This great Soundtrack is so underrated... beside the other Master-Pieces "On Her Majestie's"" and "Diamonds Are For Ever". (Pat, Switzerland)
Rewatched The Black Hole, scored by Barry the same year, and there are so many similarities between the two pieces musically it's like Barry used Black Hole a sketchbook for this piece.
This is very nice. It would have been quite something if you had been able to put in a shot of a craft docking at the ISS at the same time when, in the original score, the Moonrakers are docking at Drax's secret space station. But as it is, it's perfectly good.
James Bond 007 (1979) Moonraker. All in pairs, just like back then. As in Noah's Ark, this operation runs. (On the flight to Hugo Drax's space station) John Barry my hero in music. Jorge
Live and Let Die is my favorite Moore. He was both camp and 'serious.' A favorite scene is when Bond's pinkie is in danger of being sliced off. And the music was excellent, too, even if not by the Master John Barry.
Great inspiring footage and the right music to go with it. Thank you for making this available. I wonder if we will ever see another Bond movie set offworld?
I highly recommend listening to the The Black Hole soundtrack by Barry first and then this one. You can definitely hear the tonal similarities and signature use of brass that Barry has become so known for. Both TBH and Moonraker scores should be 'must listen' for any fan of film scores.
Wow 😮 Added to my "Exploring The Planets" playlist, which is the highest form of praise 😁👌 Yeah nah, great edit. If the culture weren't so brat teenager snarky at the moment, people would marvel at the triumph of civilisation in all that.
John Barry was a huge fan of Gustav Mahler, whose Ninth Symphony he named his BBC Desert Island Disc. I'm a Mahler fan as well, and it's difficult for me not to hear this as a malevolent variant of the finale from his Second Symphony, also known as The Resurrection. Given Drax's plan, it makes sense. He's "resurrecting" humanity in his image, but only with a select few whom he sees as fit while murdering everyone else.

The POWER of a John Barry composition can never be over stated. The man was a musical melody genius!
Agreed I want to meet him and his Orchestra when my time comes

Yeah, Thomas Newman was not as versatile.

Masterpiece.
I’ve always hoped that, at least once during a Shuttle mission to the ISS, someone rose to the occasion and played this prior to docking.
I know right? It's so FITTING!!!
Not until there is a member of her Majesty's Secret Service steering the thing.
Its opening itself is already awe-inspiring.
John Barry always captured the moment of the event, and he's one of the best at it and he's been able to do it consistently
Stunning. Both sonically and visually
Sir Frederick Gray: My god, what's Bond doing?
Q: I think he's attempting re-entry, sir.
Michael Fang Dr. Holly Goodhead: Take me round the world one more time
Bond: Why not :)
Michael Fang How to end a movie. Now and forever!
LOL The finest moment in Bond history LOL
Michael Fang absolutely great Michael, nearly pissed!

this video and music is simply amazing, in fact, it makes you rather small and insignificant!

Magnificent combination of authentic ISS footage with John Barry's haunting score.
used to listen to the bond soundtracks by Barry when I worked nightshift. they used to keep my pumped and motivated.
For all aspiring film composers out there, this is required viewing.
And astronomical artists!!
Sad that I can only give this one thumb's up.
John Barry's music made the movies whether a western or sci fi a true master music maker. sadly missed 😔
John Barry is simply: IL MAESTRO!!!
A magnificent video about our future in space.
Sadly the newer more "grounded" James Bond movies abandoned the shear insanity of the 70's-80's era ones. Which climaxed in Moonraker.
Looking down on our beautiful earth and what we all doing destroying her shame on us all.
When I listen to this I look up and let my eyes wander all over the ceiling as I imagine myself in space
I don't think you would want to be one of the spacemen in the battle though and that was another of his master pieces a very haunting sound to the space battle.
Whenever I listen to John Barry's 70s Bond soundtracks I dearly wish that I could see the movies they go with.
This is absolutely fantastic.
The note at 4:52 gets me everytime. My favorite piece
That footage was astounding.
I just played this in synchronisation with a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch, specifically the SXK-7 mission. It fitted scarily well.
His music has a excellence
What a tune!

Raise the titanic
This make me feel so small looking at earth this high in space
Just beautiful, love it.
John Berry was a true master!
At 5:29 and following, a bit of a homage to Gustav Holst from John Barry (Neptune the Mystic from The Planets). Beautiful!
First the was the dream....Now there is reality......How true indeed!
I had never seen this video before but I liked the music-awesome!
This is so lovely video❤❤❤

Oh, man.
Our species is AWESOME!
Yes, we've done nasty stuff to each other and nature, but over all...
We're awesome.
Admit it.
@@RandomNameLastName811 No, but there's a limit to self-flagellation. We're also fixing the damage we've done.
This is the music that should be played when we have to leave Earth for the very last time, due to the Sun's increased luminosity etc.
WOW! Great music and great art!! Thanks for the post!
Watching this made me cry.
John barry is the greatest
Excellent
moonraker bond at his best and great music perfect for the movie me Moore was my no1 bond

moonraker. Now all you need is Drak's space station.
Seeing the Great Lakes at 4:00 was neat. 4:25 view of universe was awesome.

Spettacolo musica fantastica eccezionale.
Great composer
I always get chills at 2:45
I still can't make up my mind on which I like better: the Spy who loved me or moonraker. they're both the best Roger Moore era bond movies.
+Jebi Nivens -Good to see that I`m not the only one with that "problem" :D
Moonraker I think but the spy who loved me was not far behind!!
Live and Let Die is my favorite Moore. He was both camp and 'serious.' A favorite scene is when Bond's pinkie is in danger of being sliced off. And the music was excellent, too, even if not by the Master John Barry.
They need to get back into space and the ocean not that boring craig crap.
For Your Eyes Only has to be part of that dilemma too.
A 'tri-lemma', if you will ❤️
1:45 to 2:15 is beautiful.
Awesome, absolutely awesome.

Magnifique musique sur de superbes images.

When you hear space March oh, it's consistent with the type of situation that's occurring in for that I think John Barry

4:28 says it all....
Jog to this track and you will really feel the orchestra wow
