    I'm a complete beginner - what sort of material/wood should I commence my projects with?

    • @DailovespoonsThomas
      @DailovespoonsThomas  2 года назад

      Hi Hywel, great to hear from you. The beauty of the scroll saw is it's ability to work in a wide variety of different materials. I am a woodcarver as well as a scroll sawer so I prefer to work with seasoned hardwood. It can depend upon what you have access to. If you can source something at low cost or recycle something that is unwanted this can be a great starting point. The blade that is best suited to you will vary depending upon the material you can source.
      To give you a few examples. I use Ash, Oak, Mahogany, fruit wood, Teak, Maple, Juniper, Iroko etc to scroll saw.
      Thanks for getting in touch. Let me know if you have any follow up questions. All the very best from us all. 👍👍

      You should use the material that you love to look at the most. The beauty of woodworking is you can choose whatever you would like to create your perfect project.

    Quick question what kind of wood do you use for your scroll saw

    • @DailovespoonsThomas
      @DailovespoonsThomas  3 года назад +1

      Hi great to hear from you and thanks for the question. In this video I was using Juniper that I managed to salvage from my father in laws town in La Mancha, Central Spain. I use all sorts of wood, mainly hard wood. Oak, Ash, Mahogany, Teak, Tulip wood, Walnut, fruit wood etc.
      It's basically whatever I can get hold of, usually from old furniture and other unwanted fixtures and fittings.
      Thanks again for getting in touch, hope the video was useful. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop 👍👍

      @@DailovespoonsThomas thanks for your reply I have another question I just got into scroll sawing was wondering what number blade do you use best for hardwood and best for softwood

    • @DailovespoonsThomas
      @DailovespoonsThomas  3 года назад

      @@getfit628 hi, thanks for your question. We use a Niqua number 9 reverse tooth blade. We mainly use hardwood but it leaves a great finish on hardwood and softwood. The wood we use is usually around 1/2" to 1" thick
      Thanks again for getting in contact. Let me know if you have any other questions. All the best from us all here at The Lovespoon Workshop. 👍👍
