  • Removing eyelid skin tags is demonstrated using a flexible BiopBlade. These are benign growths which do not have to be removed unless they interfere with vision. Removal can be done by a Family Physician, but some will defer to an Ophthalmologist, ENT, or Dermatologist. Cryotherapy by application of liquid nitrogen is also an effective treatment.
The medical term for skin tag is acrochordon

I'm always terrified that the blade might ping out of your grip whenever I see you use that thing and take off more than intended lol. Also I'm impressed that you record everything on the iPhone I didn't think the camera would be very clear or at least not clear enough for up close shots, you think you'll ever switch to a "propper" camera? X Claire X

+Claire Westmoreland I have been using the iPhone for my main camera in procedures over the last year. It provides superior performance in this role compared to a Canon DSLR camera. There are unique conditions leading to this like the need for a sterile field in the region of the procedure. It would not be possible for me to get the same shots with a larger camera. They cannot provide the same versatility of the small and lightweight iPhone. I also would not be able to get a better image using a different camera. That may not be true for other creators, but for my workflow the iPhone works best. We use special lighting in our main studio exam room, and I use the same video recording app which was used in the movie, Tangerine. www.google.com/amp/www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2015/1/28/7925023/sundance-film-festival-2015-tangerine-iphone-5s

Auburn Medical Group Dr. Mark, if you ever get to the point where it's financially feasible, we would love to have a movie or perhaps a short film. :D Since you already use an app that filmmakers use, why not? Dream big! And I would totally donate to the fund to help future projects.

Auburn Medical Group wow that's pretty cool to know Dr Vaughn. I guess what I was meaning in terms of another camera was still a compact one that wouldn't encroach onto the sterile field like the Sony cybershot which is popular amongst youtubers and can film in 4K I'll link one for you at the bottom. I still think the iPhones brilliant and never knew it could film such good quality but just think how delighted the subscribers would be to be able to view abscesses, ear wax and bumpectomy's in 4K! Lol and as Lindsey said you could make your first movie for the next festival! X Claire X

Ta dah! Clicked the bell 🙂. Cool procedure Dr Vaughan, were you nervous cutting that close to the eye? I've used scissors on my tags, stings a bit but worth it. Good patient and he has beautiful eyes. What would the patreon fund? Thanks for the video 🙂

+BooBoo Kitty you get honorable mention for being able to do that to yourself. The Patreon would help make up for the lost revenue the medical practice incurs from my spending time working on RUclips instead of seeing patients. It would also help to pay for the editor. Once that goal is achieved ($3000/month) we can work toward having more frequent videos, like speaking on medical topics without a patient or procedure. I also hope to be able to someday afford getting out of the office to visit doctors in other specialties. My challenge right now is coming up with the perks for the various reward levels. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Auburn Medical Group the first bonus would be that you would do more medical videos. The second bonus is actually meeting and possibly collaborating with other drs. I wondered if work on the videos was curtailing your share of the dr duties. For the patreon donations, $5 gets you dinner and a movie with Dr Buhl. $20 gets you an autographed pic of Dr Gawayne and no dinner/movie with Dr Buhl. The "gifts" could be AMG tote bags, tees, pens, cups, thank you note etc.... I will support you and your endeavors because we will all benefit too.

No disrespect, but at 3:59 you state, "Well I see I did NOT get everything..." WHAT?!?! This is your PROFESSION! He (insurance) is PAYING you to TAKE THE SKIN tags off, and you openly are telling him you didn't GET it all?!? So he'll what...have to have it removed when it grows up again? I would guess it COULD have been removed by s/one who bats 100%. If I were your patient (and for 5yrs), I would search for another doctor after this visit, THAT'S for sure.
