Just change the driver in BT50
Take a couple of psi out of the tyres that will make all the difference
It's all about the tires and the driver of course.
Nothing against Ford but the BT driver should have just stayed on the gas the first time
Looked like the BT50 might have a bit more weight? Not sure, but BT50 Driver Mullet is on point!
After almost 50K views, you are the first person to notice the Mullet 😎 Legend!! 🤙🏻🇦🇺
Its more on thr driver fighting spitit w/o double minded operation
When I read the comments here I often wonder how many of the people here ever sat in a 4x4 under real offroad conditions. Before you break something on your car (axle,...) because of hitting the gas too hard its totally worth to take 10 minutes longer for a difficult passage.Better safe than sorry.
You mean like he did at 08:21 and then at 08:47 to ACTUALLY get up?
Tyres, approach angle... But he deflated and used the gas anyway which he should have just done from the start.
Mazda's engine has still to give, the major problem is the tires grip.
And the amount of weight its pulling a full atv with a bunch of stuff
@@yuhboi8746 ranger had a ATV as well
Bad tires, BAD DRIVER, and bad line.
Traction Control
Traction Control
all it takes is 300mm of different line, you can't compare unless the run in the exact line
Driver no have experience..
you guys should not comparing between the 2 trucks. what bring us here is more toward enjoying the show - getting stuck and get out. That is the fun of off-roading.
This can never be a real comparison, that would be too difficult without a controlled environment. This is Father and Son enjoying off-roading together...except Father got stuck trying to make it up the obstacle, so Son decides to post this to RUclips :)
I will explain the thing.
I saw this video a while ago. There is a trick here. Reading the comments it seems that people alway forget the main thing in 4x4 (or maybe no clue?).
((It is the fat 2.5” Fox shocks!))
The suspension is completely different. That’s why these racing shocks are very expensive. They are 2.5” - the compression and rebound are way better than these stock or 2.0” shocks.
Main thing in 4x4 is shocks? Lol wtf you smoking.
More like tyres and clearance and skill... shocks would have hardly made a difference here
Every time he goes forward he hesitates. No momentum to bounce over.
Perfect example of where a throttle controller would have removed the Lag.
Its like 4×2 coz i didn't see the the front wheel is turning
Thats what we called noob driver...
Nice video dude as always. There you can see, that the Raptor not just looks great, she also climb up anywhere.🤙🇩🇪🤙🇦🇺
Dan, haven’t forgotten about your shout out mate, will be in my next channel update. Keep an eye out 😎👍🏻

Tyre pressures?
I think the Mazda could have dropped 5 or 10 psi maybe.
At least down to 20 psi
Do you mean less psi, a better grip?
@@chidodavid yes when you reduce your tyre pressure you increase the surface area that is in contact with the ground hence better grip.

Why would you compare the BT-50 model that was released alongside the Ford Ranger to the Ford Raptor, and evenso straight up to the 2018 models, the BT-50 and Ranger carry the same engine, transmission, suspension, essentially the same truck with different outer shells.
It depends on the drivers on that are handling the vehicle it doesnot soley depend on the capability of the vehicles
Momentum and smooth throttle control are they key. It's easy to be an armchair critic, but it is quite easy to see in this vid. Great example at the 4 min marker. They went a bit quicker and cleared the first part of the hill with ease, having been stopped previously when going slower. But then as soon as they needed to maintain the momentum they lifted off the throttle getting stopped again. They would have been better off rolling all the way back and trying again. Off road driving is a skill you never stop learning at. The driver of the Mazda should watch this vid so that they can adapt their driving next time round.
Well said!!

Try taking the quad bike out of the trailer!
Its 4x4 too ya know!
YEH!
Lmao
hahahah...brilliant!
Totally agree it’s hardly a fair match up .
You all are not watching the vedio till the end, they lowered tire pressure at the end that solved the problem..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The problem it's driver

Ford raptor has terrain management system making it easy for the engine to distribute enough power required among the tires. I believe bt 50 doesn't have these feature. Though for power, i still prefer the 3.2L set up of the previous ranger. So all in all, i believe the tech on the raptor did the most part of the job there.
so that's d secret
👍🏻
The engine does not distribute power. It is the gear box and traction control. I had this system (TMS) on a 2005 ranger rover. You can do the terrain modes manually i.e. sand mode (4x4, hi, traction control off, increase throttle response [if you have a throttle controller or just use a heavier foot]. Rock crawling (4x4, low, diff lock [reduce throttle response or use lighter foot])... etc.
Its different calibrations in the traction control systems, as well as tyre pressures etc. Ford only sells the platform to mazda and they do their own calibrations. Ford has done a lot more r and d in this. You can see bt50 is not braking the wheel properly or early enough when it breaks traction.
Ford tech did play a big part here. Don't curse the driver of BT50😂
👍🏻
damn this was painful to watch (Bt50 owner)
No bt50 has the same engine of ford its the video maker got paid for ford raptor but to my point of view bt50 stand out simple take air out from tires here we go ledt raptor out
Big raptor tires. thats it. still prefer the 50.
Mujeeb Lodhi you’re a deadset drongo .
Also this BT-50 Is the XT variant which don't always have factor rear diff lock.
Rear diff lock can really make a difference.
Bruhhhh
Judging by the wheelspin it looks like the BT driver didn’t engage his rear diff lock. Rooky error.
Couldn’t spell rookie! Rookie mistake.
dinkum83 Excellent pick-up. Love the irony! Cheers.
@@Ballantrae thats all his got so old mate picks on grammar instead 😂
Nice Mate, good to see the Raptor in action, demonstrating how good FORD has tuned the TMS to the various conditions offroad 👍, keep the videos coming
Zane, Long time sub Legend 👍🏻 Honestly Rock mode is probably one of my favourite modes so far...there is no guess work, it does exactly what it says it’s gonna do. 🤙🏻😎🇦🇺
Ford Ranger Raptor the best!!!!!!!!
I can smell the bt50's clutch in my living room.
Automatic
@@dungenxdacross5880
Manual or automatic, clutch plates, cvt, planetary hubs or torque converter. I can smell the transmission burning!
Thx for this real-life video again. You are just doing me a great favor by not following the standards. Where all the real stuff and actions are just simply cut out. Glad to follow your channel.
Anyone can make a video only showing the good stuff. I want to show it how it happens good or bad. I’m not phased by the armchair critics. Henri, thank you mate 👍🏻 you have been an active subscriber from the beginning of this channel SHOUT OUT to you, cheers 🍺😎
@@RoundTheFire That is exactly why your style of videos make a difference. And a pleasure to watch. If I search in youtube for the Raptor I get mainly "review" videos, shot in Morocco, and meant for the European market. And as it is a sponsored trip for many journalists, they all kind of promote the same story. You were the first who dared to post "5 things I don't like about my Raptor".
I hope I can soon share some posts as well. And hope to make it a leisure/work truck. Not an overlander (with all due respect to this group!).
Sadly parts here are a lot harder to get by, or just ridiculously expensive. And other ideas just simply haven't been done yet. So it would be fun for me to share my ideas in the future.
Also a big thumbs up for you. Taking your time to reply to so many followers. And I hope that soon you will just run out of time, due to the raising amount of followers.
@@henriwolbrink Thank you mate, however you decide to use your truck, you won't be disappointed.
Well ranger raptor did it smoothly
Yes
Good to see a demo of a loaded up Raptor rear end at last. It looked like it took the weight well.
Cheers mate, the coils are fairly soft compared to a regular leaf pack so you really need to keep an eye on how much gear you throw in other than that bloody great Ute 👍🏻
Not enough momentum, the trailer looks to be heavier and lower tyre pressure needed. Not really a fair fight, But go the Raptor, beast of a thing. I want one.
Exactly right mate, momentum and tyre pressure. 👍🏻
The real test is this: same driver, same trailer, same psi and two vehicles in same track one at a time
Love the Raptor. and the colour is so nice, maybe I should come wheeling northern AU
😎👍🏻🇦🇺
Vehicle capabilities depending on drivers skills. BT50 is not a bad offroader. Ranger all so good.
Yesyesfyes tis what i mean depending 7pon the dkilld n manuerability of the drivers skills
Looks like tire pressures were at play here. Raptor looked to be more aird down then the mazda. And was the bt locked cause i can imagine the raptor was
Yeah lack of traction
I can't see how this is raptor vs BT50 how about having the same tyres same weight and two driver that know how to drive and i bet you it would be same result
Both these trucks in the video have identical tyres. BFG 285/70 R17 All terrain tyres.
The BT50 has a bigger 5 cylinder, 3.2L engine.
The Ranger Raptor has a 4 cylinder, 2.0L engine.
Interesting
Yup! They have different size, weight (of what they're carrying + top load) and two diffirent drivers.
surprised you guys dont carry a few 2 meter aluminum planks
the problem is not the engine but the tyre grip. It is obvious that the tyre of the raptor is more rough than of Mazda
The Mazda driver first time driving four wheel drive in the bush?
😂 it certainly looks like it, actual fact is he was just having a bad day so we decided to make a video about it to rub it in 👍🏻😎🇦🇺
He slowed down. Should've kept up speed
John Stevenson you ndidnt noticed the raptor it slown down too?
The raptor did even stopped ;)
Raptor is THE MOST... 😘👍🏼
look very different trucks, the mazda did lose slight momentum but the gearbox is vey different also plus the wide track on raptor..... bloody cant wait till my raotor arrives
Its not a fair test. Its a matter of tires. Engines are both great.
Also the driver
Cant really compare the two (watch the hate flow in).
If you set the bt50 up correctly in the first place, you would have been up there first go. Dropped the tyre pressure, 4L, rear diff lockers engaged, etc... but please tell me im wrong, oh wait he made it up after he dropped the tyre pressure....
I was literally about to comment the same thing. the BT was not even close to being set up right.
The only problem with the Mazda is the pilot!!
the mazda has a heavier trailer than the raptor
Thats why i dont regret that i bought a ranger raptor, i luv its performance in a rough road, highways and by using as towing machine.
Definitely BT lacks of driver !!!
Identical vehicles? The Bt50 is clearly a way older model 😂😂😂. These guyyyyyssss!
Good videos loving the updates
Cheers mate. We need to get together again soon 👍🏻
I think you need to lessen your tire pressure cause of all the lost grip
Both trucks have Ford engines
Ford ranger same motor as BT 50 but the ranger raptor different engine and suspension
son los mismos carros
Good video. Tell your Mazda buddy he has a good atv in the Suzuki Kingquad. Keep up the good work.🚛
Cheers Jim 👍🏻😎🇦🇺
Creo la Mazda necesita un mejor chofer. I thing the Mazda Need a better driver
i have bt50. its a wonderfull car
Hello ! I tomorrow i wll buy it :D 3.2
Same truck isn't it? Mazda trucks been rebadged Fords for alot of years now so it's a comparison of a low buck 4WD against a high dollar 4WD? If it was reversed and the Ford had problems that would've made a good video!
Raptor has different engine , different transmission and fox suspension, way different platform to the BT50
Did you notice the raptor had more in the tray over the wheels it could come down to the driver as well as they are the same car.
These guys were ramping only mazda and leaving trailer alone which was more of a sticking point restricting mazda to climb.
I'd like to see the same video as this! With the raptor towing that trailer with the quad on the back🤣🤣
The Raptor is towing a trailer with a quad in it?
@@RoundTheFire sorry I thought it looked like a camp trailer
@@mattdobson9525 no stress mate, its easy at first glance for it to look like a camper, there is a OzTent strapped on 1 side, a gazebo strapped on the other and then the ramps to unload the quad are strapped on top squaring up the whole trailer.
Its defend upon the driver bro..
More right boot and keeping thoses pressure nice and low
👍🏻
There’s no comparison here because both were built with the same engine and specs. The only difference is the driver.
RJ Loygie u should see the raptor it's way bigger yoke with larger tyres on it
The BT50’s lights are the most hideous things I’ve ever seen.
Lets go Amazônia/Brasil
😎👍🏻👍🏻
With al of that track building for the mazda you might as wel just make it level and pour concrete for the poor thing 😂
Momentum & tyre pressure
In my opinion its the driver on bt50 that sucks!
Wow, who would have thought to reduce air pressure?
lol
The mazada is to heavy cargo.
The driver isn't experienced, he gets to the obstacle and lets off the throttle. Why was the tyre pressure not adjusted to suit the conditions before even attempting that obstacle?
Just shows how advanced the new raptor is now
Game changer
😎👍🏻
My Chevy ZR2 can do anything a raptor could At almost half the price
Have this same bt in gt model. Rear diff locks standard. Needed to drop air pressure I reckon.
Everyone's an expert.
3.2 l 5 cylinders.
Heaps power and torque..
Its all Ford driveline.
It's more ranger vs raptor.
👌🏼
How can you compare a Mazda with a Ford? 😅😂🤦🏼♂️
yes true how can you compare a Ford against a Mazda. Give me a Mazda any day of the week.
mazda is far way better than ford
FFS the BT-50 is Based off the T6 Ranger.
The ranger AND Mazda Is the same 🤣, stupid.
Equip the bt50 with terrain gripper tires. The tires that bt50 has in the video sucks.

I just wonder why the driver of the Bt didn’t drop is tyre pressures sooner. Maybe a little bit more speed might of helped. But it’s easy saying this from the arm chair, I wasn’t there doing it. Good update video. What brand and model knife are you carrying. Thanks
G’day Dave, All good questions mate...The actual obstacle took about an hour to negotiate, much steeper and larger rock step up than it actually looks on screen...all trimmed down into 9min of video 😎 👍🏻
The knife I carry is a OAF Nation “Kodiak GEN 3”
That bt 50 had a far heavier load and longer trailer compared 2 the ranger and the ranger will have more horse power and torque and computer assist u cant really compare them
Comparing identical veihcles with different tyres and suspension and clearly different drivers
The Ford raptor and the bt50 are to different cars
How to compare ford raptor twin turbo 213 Hp with Mazda bt50 150 Hp ?
haha very true, I wonder what the weight difference is?
This is an Australian Ranger Raptor. 4 cylinder, Diesel engine - 157HP 🇦🇺
@@RoundTheFire eh? Oh there is ranger raptor 157hp variant?
Both vehicles are tough but the Bt 50 driver need more skills❤❤

One is 70k plus ute other is 35k ute would hope the ford is better at twice the price
That was hard to watch. Uh where's the correct gear selection and a good dose of BEANS!
Another cool video Thanks Damo!
Cheers mate, thanks for being on board.
Why didn't the by driver put in the rear diff lock like the ford ?
The BT had the diff lock engaged
Raptor
Do you still own the Raptor, how is it going?
Ahh, just seen you did a video not long ago..
You didnt mention any issues with reliability so ill take that as a good sign.
Look forward to buying one.. these videos are making the wait hard.
No issues with reliability 👍🏻 mines worked great from day 1 and still going strong 😎
@@RoundTheFire Good to hear mate, safe travels.
Keep up the work.
Turn off the aircon. The engine will not have enough power to pull
😂😂🤙🏻
The driver could try it the whole day back and forth there and worst could not make it even when the track is dry, its interesting if the track is slippery.
Bad line compared to the line the Ford took and it appears to be more weight on that Mazda trailer...
You can't spend less and expect the capability of the expensive one.

This video lacks information
A. - BT 50 with rear locker? Not all BT 50 has it. I believe this truck dont have rear locker. Many times the traction control from factory is not enough to stop spinning the wheels.
B. The BT 50 is under heavy load. Good 3.2 engine but lacks acceleration... And momentum.
C. Dont blame the BT 50 driver. If this truck was mine and without rear lock... You need to be careful.
Bloody obvious ! The Mazda had extra weight on the vehicles roof rack and trailer and the inexperienced driver did not use his momentum when needed but eased off the pedal when he should of kept it down.
Exactly!
Don’t really agree but either way it’s following a vehicle with stock 33s for a start with a track that’s a lot wider than the Mazda - the extra width, 33s and locker with TC still working on front whilst rear locker engaged might have been the difference here. Extra track width can be a game changer when you’re gripping areas where 99% of other vehicles can’t in the same situation. I saw a Raptor parked next to a 200 yesterday and it’s a big unit. Damo’s trailer is bloody heavy also with a quad and gear - he wasn’t that lighter (if at all) to make that match of a difference. CheersI
That mazda is giving me anxiety
