    One last thing, I think Jackie won, he didn’t have to live thru all the craziness that came after the Heist. He didn’t have to see those he cares about die, or leave him, he got a drink at the Afterlife, and he reached the heights he always dreamed of, if only for a few minutes.

      For me one of the toughest parts of the game was when you got to see Songbird's past, although that wasn't the path I took, I decided to try to help her even though I know it's probably what the AI wants you to do, but I watched how the game would have played out had you betrayed Songbird at first and got the quest where you started seeing her memories. That broke my heart so bad, to see how happy she was and how she was just a dumb teenager who thought she was invincible and made terrible choices to how she is now, mostly chrome and barely human, losing her memory and her humanity to the blackwall. I think that was the path CDPR intended because it was the most involved and gave you the most backstory on So Mi. But I couldn't bring myself to go that route.

    I'm glad this game exists, it actually has a lot of anti-suicide messages. Evelyn's fate, that cop whose turtle passed away, and V's own ending, etc., it kinda snapped me out of it as well because life hasn't treated me well recently. Just remember, whether you think ending your own life is justified or not, people who are close to you will get hurt, and they will carry that weight until the day they die.

    • @damienjohnson3450
      @damienjohnson3450 8 месяцев назад

      It does it in such a tasteful way too. It's never shaming you or anyone for thinking about it. It doesn't tell you to just get over it. The Barry side quest changed my perspective and has actually helped me approch this topic with people who are suicidal in a more sensitive and caring way. The last thing someone contemplating suicide needs to hear is "tough it out" because that's what they have already been doing.

    My favourite endings are the Sun ending after soloing Arasaka towers with Johnny and the ending with Panam.
    In both endings whatever the outcome you will be a legend of night City.
    If you leave with the Aldecardos you will either die in 6 months or there is a small chance you find a cure through thier contacts in Arizona. Either way you are a legend in night City because of your actions before you leave. V leaving the City means he would be remembered a legend who disappeared instead of a legend who died. People would speculate about whether V is still alive or not. Some would believe he is still alive. The mystery would only fuel his legend more.
    In the sun ending things are left open ended also. All we see is V attempting the raid on the space station. Maybe he dies in the attempt. Like Icarus flying too close to the sun. Joing other names on the drinks menu at the Afterlife. Or perhaps he succeeds. If he does succeed there is a chance that he can reconnect with So Mi in space. It is Mr Blue Eyes that sends him I to space and also Mr Blue Eyes that sends So Mi to space. Perhaps there is a way for him to help V. Who knows. Perhaps So Mi can help V find a way to cure himself, it would be the least she could do after lying to him before and I think she would want to do anything to help V after he chose to save her life a d not give her up to Reed and Myers. (If this is what you choose to do in PL)

    Leaving Night City with Panam and the Aldecadoos is my favorite ending. My favorite path is Nomad, my favorite chick is Panam. That’s my head cannon. Also Viktor is the realest person in the game outside my boy Jackie, he’s the only one who is there in almost every ending.

      Agreed. Even after the Phantom Liberty actually giving us a chance to save V, in a true Cyberpunk fashion it's a lot more bitter than sweet, so my choice is still the Star ending. We grant Johnny his wish of killing Smasher, we part with Johnny on good terms as real friends and he remains alive in Cyberspace, we tie up all loose ends and drive away into the sunset with people we love, to live the remainder of our (limited) days as a free man, away from the City of -Dreams- Nightmares. I think given the universe this story is set in, this is as good as it gets, and feels like true closure for V and Johnny.

    This is a really good video. I don't have much to add that wasn't already included here. I did the Phantom Liberty ending a few days ago and oof, that last convo with Johnny aboard the AV really did hurt me deep in my soul. All the endings have made me cry but that one made me sob. Personally I find it hard to pick a favorite as none of them are happy but yeah, I agree that the Sun and Temperance endings are probably the most hopeful ones, even if they're still depressing as all hell.
    I actually never made the choice to let Johnny have V's body even though I've played through that ending. It was on a playthrough where I let him take over on the rooftop to go with Rogue, but I wasn't on good terms with him in that one and once we were inside Mikoshi he pretty much made the choice for V to take the body and go back to NC, and leave V with Alt. I also did the Devil ending in that same playthrough with a non-friendly Johnny and man, that conversation he and V had in Mikoshi. He made it no secret that he was angry and that they weren't friends. After that I knew I could never do another playthrough where I wasn't on the best terms with Johnny, even though a part of me is curious to see how the conversation in the AV would go if you aren't on good terms with him. I doubt it'll be pretty and I'm not gonna find out for myself.
    That said, 10/10 game, will let it emotionally destroy me again in the future.

    I've also played through all endings and my favourite route is to help songbird in the dlc and do the "don't" fear the reaper ending. Let Johnny go with alt and return to NC as a legend.
    The reason to why I enjoy this ending the most is the fact that we work with Mr. Blue Eyes. I believe that he is a good guy and if you want to know why you need to watch the collection of information on him on the net or youtube. He seems to pull the strings only towards certain events and it makes you wonder why. (The tldr version of my theory is, good vs evil AI try to take over the world and Mr. Blue Eyes is part of the good faction, see the Mayors Questline for more information)
    V is a good soul and deserves a good ending. Seeing as Songbird got her second chance through Mr. Blue Eyes, who's to say it's impossible for V?

    12:50 On the Evelynn death scene, and being so out of nowhere (like in real life) was the moment that I realized how deep and serious this game was. Never seen any game that has included something like that, and when I got to the end and saw that ending, I was just blown away. Altough hard and ""bad"" as can be for people, I absolutely appreciate the fact that a game so immersive like that, it gives you an option like that, is just one of the reason why I know that no matter what. My first playthrough of cyberpunk gonna be on my memory for a long time if not forever. I cant explain the experience the amount of emotions. / 13:39 Yeah here you said exactly what I think about this, its a realistic path as hard as it sounds.

    Wow what a fantastic video really. Keep up with that lovely narration man. Good work. I was honestly amazed by how great this game was. Is the best experience I ever had, maybe on any media. Nothing has ever made me feel that way. I tried to play as V was a second me so I kinda felt really attached to my V, doing the Panam ending was the best choice I could make.
    About the DLC, overall, might be one of the best dlcs I seen. Not a single quest that I didnt like. The chimera fight and the party... Omg what fantastic time I had during the party, extremely "Ocean eleven" vibes wich I loved it. Since the beggining I was sus about Songbird, when I met Reed I could see that I agree way more with him, but it was a thin line. So I went with Reed's path when I had the choice. Im not usually someone who has a bad time with horror movies and games, I never find them that "creepy". But the last quest from the Reed's path. Geeeeeez I fucking LOVED that mission Alien Isolation vibes. I was terrified the whole quest, dont remember a game or movie that made me feel that terrified ever. Part of the reason I enjoyed it so much was not expecting to get scared shitless in Cyberpunk lmao. Usually im the one running around hunting things..I loved it and was pleasantly surprised that Cyberpunk of all games was the first game to give me a good spook. The first time the robot chases you actually had me panicking at the door. It was tense as fuck and I felt on edge the entire time and just wanted it to end, I love when games can invoke that level of emotion in the player. Just hearing that robot skulking around somewhere out of view, and it's erratic behaviour as well, they really went all in for creating a unique and terrifying horror experience. And Songbird, after witnessing all the flashbacks from her life, I just couldnt help to feel emphaty for her, so I just choosed to hugged her and chose to grant her wish and euthanized Songbird. Becoming a slave to the system and reduced to being a tool for the goverment is something that neither V nor Johnny could stand for (at least that’s my interpretation), even if she lied and tricked V. The last conversation with Johnny about the whole thing, with “Never Fade Away” coincidentally playing in the background, was just icing on the cake. Hats off CDRP, clap clap.

    I've changed my mind on the Phantom Liberty Ending being all that bad after sitting on it for a few months since the release. Well, as long as you have a good relationship with Johnny I consider it a decent ending. Since he seems to prefer taking the bullet for you and letting you live. While it sucks that V lost a lot and I'm not just talking about his connections and powers. They gained another chance at life and the hope to live it out. I think Johnny says it best when you have a good relationship with him. "Not askin' you to give up. Sometimes you gotta let go." V let go of his old life as a mercenary, just like they gives up or loses his old life in most of your origins. Like corpo V getting fired, and nomad V going to the city for a new life. They gained an ordinary life with an almost fresh start, where they are free to do almost anything. Even potentially start a family if they want to. That doesn't sound so bad when you think of it like that. As for Arasaka that you leave unfinished, it's likely Yorinobu is purposely brining down the company since he knows how disgusting it is. You hear the company is not doing well at all in that ending as well. So ironically, by leaving Yorinobu alone, you're letting him do your work for you.

      I agree. Also, in my game I did not romance Judy. I stayed friends with her and she went on to have her life elsewhere before I even started the Phantom Liberty DLC. So, when my V called her 2 years later she had found someone and was open to V meeting her and her spouse. So one friend was left. Vic... possibly, though that tie seemed very much weakened in the game. Also Kerry seemed to be too busy being star again. Not that I expected anything different. River... was busy digging his own grave. I wonder if I had chosen some other paths between our interactions, he would have been smarter later on. Perhaps the key is to be good to others, but not hold them too close as I did with Judy?
      I could easily imagine V going to back to East Coast, being in NUSA employment for a few years and then move on. Possibly keeping in touch with Judy and maybe Vic, Misty and even Kerry. Now, since V had during her time in Night City stepped on plenty of important toes, it might be blessing for V to be nobody and not even have much ties to old life. But all that is just guesswork as there's little evidence in the game to say one way or another.

    I've done most of the endings (not panam or the "secret" ending). I've done all of phantom liberty. Most endings really hurt. The "secret ending" of phantom liberty made me feel so fucking empty, but the conversation I had with Johnny in that car? almost made me feel at peace, it comforted me. And taking the "easy way out" in the main game had me actually crying, especially after I'd done Judy's questline and saw what happened to her friend. This game is amazing.

    Takemura hates you if you leave with the aldecaldos because in that ending, they reveal that Yorinobu murders his sister Hanako, but of course the news report claims that she died during the attack on Arasaka that you did, but obviously you didn't kill Hanako, so we all know what really happened.

  • @Neyenn
    @Neyenn 8 месяцев назад +2

    The leaving Night City with the Aldecaldos fits way more as male V imo (Misty kinda leaves it open that V will live some more time and even have a kid with Panam, also Panam saying that she can get help in Arizona). And I even think that it was the first ending, the original game was written as a Male V Streetkid (What Dex ask you, and the ending of the dlc kinda confirmes it). But in the other hand the Rogue ending fits more with a Fem V.
    Also the fact that the whole Panam ending fits better with the obvious fact (if shes your gf). When Panam walks in is even more emotional imo, because is not only a friend helping you, its kinda your gf trying to save your life, I do feel like its way different and better. It just feels so much more emotional being your partner who is helping you in Arasaka.

    • @Purple_PP
      @Purple_PP  8 месяцев назад

      It definitely feels more appropriate to canonize what I believe to be the only love interest based ending which is a great point, but like you said with an option for fem V in theory being equally viable it makes it tough to point to the aldecaldos and say that it’s the right ending, although I guess it’s the only one she can leave with Judy so who knows. Love how open ended the finales are

    • @Neyenn
      @Neyenn 8 месяцев назад

      @@Purple_PP Oh yeah I sorry I didnt meant to say "right" I do think that this game is so well written, that is up to the player to determinate what is the "right" or "good" ending. I did the comparision between both because as I heard, when you do the Rogue ending and become Afterlife boss, Judy can stay living with you (unlike Panam who leaves no matter what, as I heard), giving that bittersweet ending of the Aldecaldos one with a male V.

    • @arcee9810
      @arcee9810 8 месяцев назад

      Something I like to point out to friends is that, without context, it sounds an awful lot like Panam is making big promises she can't possibly keep. But if you know the lore, you know the Aldecaldos are much, much larger than Saul's tiny subfaction and they do in fact have connections to some incredible resources, like StormTech or the Technomancers, the latter of which are specifically known for finding solutions to unsolvable technology problems. Like Misty says, as long as you're alive, there's hope.
      And never let anyone tell you different.

    beautifull video. to me all those endings also just show commitment to the ganre from the writers, there are no good endings for people in a society where peaople are not valued anymore. Best thing you can do is either try to escape from it all together or die with at least some dignity. "Never fading away" in the song becomes not some abstract beauty but about the idea itself, this impossible beautifull idea of immortality, of riding into the sunset, forever remembered. Always loved this song and thought it was tiumphant, like "Yeah, beautifull things are immortal in the minds of people. My impact on this world will immortalize me" Not in this world. Now the song sounds to me more like a desperate cry, and almost brings me to tears every time i listen to it.
