Johan, it's your videos that reignite the thrill of rock "tone" and having fun just "riffing out"!!! Thank you!
+Lee Morrison Thanks Lee, you make my day man! Cheers
Johan tjena legget! You take tone chasing to a whole new level. Love your demos and the passion you put into creating all these great sounds!
Legendary. Good work in the groovy/casual backing track aswell. Thank you !
And as always. You sound amazing. I like that hard rock vibe in your playing. You're playing with heart and soul.
+Yavijo Really glad you like it! Cheers
Damn those drums sound amazing
This has an amazing groove.
Seems to sound smoother and creamier than the previous JTM45s you've shown us. Love your work, Johan.
+Chris ACT Thanks Chris! Yeah it has such a spatially rich top end.
I would love to hear from you a YBA-1 vs MIG-50 vs JTM45 comparison. What an amazing job you are doing right there! And thank you so much!
Amazing sound! Well done Johan! Cheers Jorge
+harleybrujo Thanks my friend!
This series of videos has been great! My favorite so far was the 1964 but they're all great in their own unique way.
+Steve Floyd Thanks Steve, great to hear! Cheers
Cheers Johan, big fan of the channel!
+Steve Floyd Really glad to hear that. I'll see you around!
awesome vibe!!!
And by the way, great series. I like how you put things in a mix this time; sometimes I focus so much on the guitar sound in my isolated practice that I overlook how that sound needs to fit in the overall picture. Great job on drums!
+pgk7285 Thanks, so glad to hear that! I hope to do more of these mixes in coming amp clips. Cheers Johan
Sounds GREAT ! Thanks Johan. ! : )
+Mitchell Ferre Thanks man! :-)
you're like one of my favorite youtubers, all your reviews are awesome! and I have to say, I don't know if your riffs are all improvised, but they always sound great.. I mean, you have some skill when it comes to that!
+viktor knezevic Thanks man, so glad to hear that!
Great clip. Your one talented dude!
+Rocco i Thanks man, glad you like it!
My god! That just sounds! Could it be more beautiful analog overdriven sound? Just pure rock&roll!
Thanks, I’m glad to hear that!
Johan Segeborn Thanks for old amps tests as always. I've got German copy of Marshall 1959 SLP (Seldon150) myself from the 70's, handwired, 1:1. That's how I found your channel. It works and needs some "amp spa" but you convinced me not to sell it never ever ;) Thanks!
Now that's the sound of rock right there.
Now I like that one the best, I didn't know about this tone stack, I wonder if I can mod mine. ? seems to have more drive/gain, but be just as smooth. And very cream sounding. Well done Johan you are the king of plexi/ Marshall demonstrations, a real treat. Thanks.
+Luke Porter Thanks Luke, yeah there are schematics of it online. There are probably serveral implementations of it so we'll try to present it more clearly in a later clip. Cheers Johan
Wow, don't know if it's because of the Baxandall, but this amp sounds incredible! Arguably better than any other you've played on here.
+xMasterxRazorx Thanks, I loved it too, it has such spatially rich top end!
Man I wish I lived next door to you....lol
This is awesome.. sounds great.. keep up the good work with making videos... :D:D
+HearGear Thanks, I really appreciate it! Cheers Johan
By the way... it would be cool if you could get a Marshall DSL100H and make a 4-5 minute review/demo and see what type of crunch sounds you can get out of it along with a 4x12 cab with Vintage 30´s in it or maybe some similar elements..
+HearGear yeah, I'll keep it in mind. Cheers
Please do more bass videos! Sounds killer.
+Eirik Aune Boehmer Thanks! It will be my pleasure :-)
Yes , yes and ....YES !!!!!!
+Tom H Thanks :-D
This along with the JTM45 in the JTM45 and 45/100 comparison video is my favorite from all the Marshalls on your channel and now i read it has a Baxandall tone stack. Is it the same that was compared to the 45/100?
My luthier has a 1970 Plexi in his showroom. He said that he doesn't use it because it's too loud. Sign Guitars in Aachen Germany. When you need one you can ask him if you could borrow it for a month or something.
+Yavijo Thanks, good to hear that
Ace! Your drumming has a very Simon kirke feel. Interesting about the baxandall eq, I didn't realise this had happened stock. It's not mentioned in any of my books. You have to love an oddity, I wonder if they every did a 100 that was baxandall amongst the earlier ones. The type of eq is my favourite. I have an old traynor with it, and an old colorsound booster that I use that is baxandall too.
+PoJoWo Thanks my friend! That's such a huge compliment. I love his playing. Cheers Johan
+Johan Segeborn glad to hear that, it certainly shows in the tone you achieve at the kit. You are a one man free! I'd be very interested to see how they implemented the tone stack. My matamp has a baxandall with mid, but it runs a cathodyne splitter rather than the usual Marshall long tailed pair. I wonder if it's the same circuit they visited later when they re worked the super-bass amps. Certainly gives a different effect when the signal hits the output stage. I guess by the mid sixties people started experimenting a little more, sound city and the like having quite different topology. Marshall may have tried to keep up and then realised people like them how they are. This amp looks to have stronger filtering than other jtms of the time. I'm currently reducing the filtering in my 1987x. That Nolan amp I recently got has very little filtering it starts to compress and Bloom even at home volume.
+PoJoWo I'm gonna see if we can get some more pictures of it in a coming clip. And yeah the filtering must be stronger, I could even do palm mutes on it :-) It would be an interesting clip to run the 1987X with different degrees of filtering for a number of riffs.
Johan Segeborn the best marshall expert on you tube!!!!!!
+Tom Jons Thanks! :-)
You Welcome amazing work!
Johan, do you think you could do a video on a reissued jtm45 and put it through the paces like you did for the reissue 1987x? I do appreciate your reviews and teachings. Cheers!
A kind of Cream reborn, isn't it ? The JTM45 with a Paula sounds great, man.
+Michael Achenbach Thanks man, that's a huge compliment to me :-)
It would be interesting to hear how the new Fender Bassbreaker 45 head would compare through these cabinets with these vintage JTM 45's....
+pgk7285 I'm gonna compare the Bassbreaker series combos soon. Then we can run them through some old Marshall Cabs too.
Hello Johan. Love your Marshall experiments.
I was wondering if you could try this. Maybe you already have:
Could you replicate Clapton's Cream era live rig?
1 x Gibson SG or LP
2 x JTM100
4 x quad cabs
Split guitar lead (passive split - Y cable) and plug into Normal 1 channel of each amp (NOT the high channel and no jumping channels).
Both amps on full volume for everything.
Vary the guitar volume/tone/pickups/pick pressure to taste.
And of course, ear protection.
Thank you.
Great video as usual Johan!!! By the way, what voltage is in your country at the wall sockets? 220 volts?
+cornraft Thanks! We have 240V in Sweden today. Used to be 220V in the 70s
Q: What beats Johan with a cranked Marshall?
A: 3 x Johan with a cranked Marshall.
+Alexander Kristofersson hahaha! :-) Thanks my friend
Sounds to me :)
+Ademar Revolution Thanks :-)
Haha, you need to put some sort of an anchor on your kick ;) I saw it "running away" from you :P
Sounds great, as usual mate! Did you play the T-bird through the Marshall too?
+EooN Thanks, yeah I forgot to bring the weight :-) The bass is played through a 71 Superbass and 4x15 cab
Nice practice amp
;-)
Hello! I have just got an jtm45 bass 1965mod, should the volume be very loud at position 1 at chanel one? Cant get any rock sound out of it just a litle bit Harder cleansound, the cabinet is a 1960a jcm900 super lead 300w. Bot impedance on the amp is on 16ohm and the cabinet is in mono 16 Ohm, is there something wrong i do? Love your Chanel and videos!
Thanks man, they are pretty loud already at one yes. I think looked at that in this clip
ruclips.net/video/S2eTD_fWXcw/видео.html
And I think that amp sounds better with Greenback speakers.
Cheers Johan
Love the jam! How can you get a hand of many awesome marshall though?
+JusAequum Thanks! Glad you like it. Regarding these particular amps, a friend of mine is a Marshall collector. Cheers Johan
Did you play bass on your marshall? I would be surprised if you did :O
Also, what made you get so much amps? I'm so jealous of your life :s
+grove4mylife Thanks yeah the bass was on a 1971 Marshall Superbass with a 1972 4x15. Most of the amps on my channel aren't mine though unfortunately :-)
Are you going to do a comparison of these JTM45s? I'm not sure how different they are though. They seem pretty similar.
+brntgrbl yes, I will. They are similar but each have a unique personality which I hope will come through in the comparison.
+Johan Segeborn cool! looking forward to it.
Please do a jtm45 vs silver jubilee video. I think the jubilee is the modern jtm 45. Am I wrong
Better catch that kick drum. It's trying to get away from you! Also, that tone is perfect. Goodness.
Johan they should call you doctor Marshall.
Thanks Nathan! ;-)
next video 'The Beast'? hehe
+Wesley ACDCRythms next video will be a 1967 JTM50, but I'd be glad to do another clip with the beast too :-)
How did you record that drumset ?
+Nick “The Dude” Hauss Hi Nick, I used 2 mics and put the drums real close together, I tilted the snare drum and put the C414 at the edge of the kick front so it picked up snare underside and kick and cymbal since I put the cymbal over the kick drum so far front that it was almost over the C414 mic. I put the hihat over half the snare drum and aimed with a Unidyne IV at the center of the snare where also the edge of the hihat was located. So all drums was basically case miked. Cheers Johan
+Johan Segeborn awesome thanks !
If you keep pacing through amp history at that speed, you'll find yourself with a current amp in less than a year. What are you gonna test drive then? ;-)
+Alexander Langer :-) Then we'll do Fender and Vox
You should try get your hands on the old Sunn, Sound City, HiWatt, Orange/Matamps...
Sounds a little lower gain than the others
+Jart It's definetly got a tighter sound
Its a shame that ALL of your bends are out of tune. I admire your passion for amps nontheless!
+Allah Poubelle haha, yeah there were a couple of off bends in there, but it doesn't matter. Think the character of the amp came through.
Are you a multi millionär??? Have you millions of dollers/euros? How get you that gear? 58er 59er gibbys les paul, 60s plexi and and and! ...uffff
