When I was 29, my mom gave me everything she'd collected for my hope chest. I asked her, "Isn't this supposed to be for after I'm married?"
Mom answered, "We gave up hope."
As a Latina my mother would have done the same and broadcasted it to everyone in the family. I'm all for support, but this one is pushing those boundaries.

I have one child who survived breast cancer very young. The other who has bad mental health struggles. They've had it rough. We all have. If my child shared this with me, I'd just say, "Are YOU ok with it? Are. You. Happy?" Believe me, when you've been through REAL hell with your kids, some of things that parents get so stupid about, DO NOT MATTER.
A friend of mine did "spicy dancing" years ago. The only things her parents asked were "Are you safe at work" and "Can we get a family discount" lol. They didn't care what she did job wise as long as it was safe which for her it was. Not to mention she has zero debt and bought her first houst at 23.

Funny thing, I WAS!! I danced for 5yrs, lived frugally and was able to pay all the way up to my PhD and be there for my 3 kids at home. My husband makes jokes too this day!! 😂I was 19 then and I'm 46 now and he still does it LOL...

This is the perfect parents/child relationship, and a great model for the rest of us! Having adult children myself, total acceptance, and letting them live their own life, in our family, is what works the best. They know they are unconditionally loved, and I’ll always will be there, if they need support, for any reason 😊.
The first story honestly is the best showing of supporting parents in a long time. After so many stories of entitled parents or toxic parents, this is a refresher.

I will always remember the dancer my daughter was friends with.Every week she would go by her mom's house and give her at least a hundred dollars to make sure her mom and younger brothers and sisters had everything they needed. Twenty five years ago a hundred dollars went a lot farther.

I wasn’t doing anything wrong and they actually make a pretty decent living. A few months later I was planning a visit home (lived on the opposite side of the US at the time) and not only did my mom help find a place I could dance at a few time while there but she did so with the help of my older brother and younger sister.

We used to have some lovely neighbors, a sweet young couple with 5 adorable children. The dad was shopping for a used car and was test-driving a Mustang with his wife in the passenger seat and his BFF in the backseat. He lost control of the car when the accelerator got stuck, and crashed into a large boulder at a sharp turn in the road. She had her seat belt on, but her husband and friend did not. The men were thrown through the windshield while she had minor injuries, even though she was sitting closest to point of impact. Her husband died instantly (I'll spare you the gruesome details, but it was horrific) and the friend spent months in a coma and will never be okay again.
Those sweet kids lost their wonderful dad just because he didn't think seat belts save lives.

I met her through a support group for patients who suffer from trigeminal neuralgia, a disease so painful it's AKA the "suicide disease". In order to cope and survive, we strive to look for what is beautiful and loving in the world. There really are many things in this mean ol' world that are fantastic and magical, we just have to look harder most of the time.

I’ve read the book! It’s fantastic. It’s about personalities and how to best communicate/respond to different personality types based on colours. It’s really about how we misunderstand each other because we don’t communicate on the same wavelength. It benefitted me massively when I was still working and honestly is a great book for anyone in a job where you have lots of people you interact with! 💪🏼

I got baptized at age 33 because I love my mom and didn't want her to worry about it in her golden years. She died 6 years later, and I've never regretted being baptised as a gift to her.
