This guy taught me how to replace my coolant reservoir on last video and it sure did save me a couple hundred dollars if I would've taken it to a shop ! Thx bud God Bless You !
I just replaced mine. I purchased the aftermarket one brand new from Freightliner dealer for $240. My engine temperatures were not high. My coolant reservoir had a pin needle size hole on top and it was spray misting a leak.
I had the same problem and the shops were saying that most likely it’s a blown head gasket. I replace the reservoir and problem fixed. There’s a video of on RUclips that shows what the tank actually does besides holding the extra coolant by Francisco Amaya. The reservoir has a smaller tank inside and when it breaks internally you get high pressure. Replacing the reservoir caps will not do anything because it’s broken internally.
So I just replaced my reservoir with the OEM one from dealer like 3 months ago. The truck was at numerous Freightliner dealers for SCR/OneBox issues and they regen'ed it over and over and over. On my way home on that trip the coolant has high pressure once again. I am convinced that Parked Regens destroy that coolant reservoir
I have decent problems but I went to the mechanic and they did all kinds the Tex and they say that hight pressure is the motor is tha true or you think I should the change the tank
I replaced the coolant reservoir with an original. The other one was after market and it cracked and the tank before the reservoir also cracked and leaked coolant. With this original it’s leaking from the top cap. I replace the cap and it’s still leaking. Any ideas ?
What about replacing the cap first and sometimes is air accumulated in the system after a cooling system work. Sometimes you just need to burp the system and the problem is fix.
I just bought mine haven't replaced it yet. The sales guy at parts told me that both oem and after market are made by the same company they just slap their label on them. Not sure of its true but don't want to take a chance I'll be exchanging for original.
But the problem I'm giving is I also changed the reservoir and radiator together about 200k ago. Why am I having the issue? It's building up the coolant and it's to the very top when I'm running the truck and its hot. Is it supposed to be all the way to the top? (Coolant).
HOPEFULLY YOU CAN ANSWER MY COMMENT SOON, SO THAT I KNOW IF TO BUY IT OR WAIT. DID YOU GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ABOUT LOW COOLANT SENSOR? EVEN WHEN RESERVOIR WAS FULL??
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY thank you brotha!! I had the same exact issue and just like you said it… get the factory one. Freaking $200 bucks more but problem solved.
what was the problem with coolant tank? bad cap? nothing wrong with a sealed tank except bad cap. But talked without explaining what was bad with the tank.
Jorge Facio Sam cab is more like fuses. If you planing to change Sam can remember you have to program it with Detroit software. There is no other way you can replace it. I would recommend to check fuses. What is the reasoning you have to replace it.
@@davinderpalsinghthind291 the connections on the back are rotting. its giving me abs relay fault codes. I've replaced the relays and it didn't fix the problem
If the Sam cab has damaged FETs from testing circuits with test lights etc. then you would have to upload your latest setting to diagnostic link 8 and install a new then reprogram with previous software. If the issue is fuse related then I would start in the circuit.
My truck for some reason keep leaking from the tube that comes out the side of the coolant reservoir. But there’s no sign on my dash saying the truck running hot or nothing
I think the reservoir was over filled, try running the truck till it gets to its normal coolant level, if it stays on a level thas not going lower than everything should be fine
Its not the cap, i got the same problem and replaced the cap and problem remains, i think the lip were the cap screws on gets warped from yrs of tightening the cap down on it and when u go up hills and temp goes up the coolant gets hot and expands and oozes out the cap.
yes man I did fix it myself. Everyone was saying (blown gasket etc) there are two sensors on the driver side of the engine. Coolant and oil sensors. Replace those and problem will be solved. Are you also running a bit hot during heavy loads and or uphill roads? Let me know if I can help more.

Have same problem now.
Not the cap, I strongly believe it's the reservoir

Good job 👏 brother

Great video thanks

Try to change radiator cap it’s cost $15 I believe the o ring seal gets hot and mess with seal then starts leaking
Thank you
Thanks buddy

Vuen consejo primo.

Hello, no i didn't,, you can check if your sensor is damaged by bringing the 2 wires on the sensor plug

engine detroit d d13-15 là em thick lắm anh ơi
Was the coolant bubbling because mine is bubbles or it’s just a head gasket
What did you ended up being the problem
Thanks for the information. I feel bad that you had to put this much money before going to right problems.

hey did you buy aftermarket part?
No i installed an original from the dealer, thanks for watching
hola sabes yo cambie el recipiente del coolant y ahora mi crackcase esta botando vapor por el respiradero
Hola encontró la solución a ese problema?

My problem start when I install new reservoir tank
Make sure you get an original tank
What causes upper hose to collapse,Thy
Hose collapsed is caused by a bad thermostat..
Great question I do have the same issue but thermostats was replaced still collapsed hose.
Please anyone let me know where is locate coolant temperature sensor?
Top rear right of the engine, behind the thermost housing.
have you ever replaced the sam cab on a 2013 freightliner?
no I never have, do you need to have one replaced?
@@TRUCKINGTIPSDIY yes I need to replace mine. I haven't had any luck on finding a video on you tube

What’s the knob on the side do? Do you tighten it or have it loose?
Tighten it (both) the side one is a safety cap if the coolant system builds pressure it releases from that cap
I had the same problem and I just loosened the side one problem fixed…that was 3 months ago

maybe it was the cap it self ???? not the whole reservoir
no, I tried that too. thanks for watching sir 🙏
Teflon fixes the issue also, the tread on the cheap reservoirs suck

It’s been a headache
He should have changed just the cap on the reservoir...that goes bad...
