  • Childhood trauma - bad things that happened to you, or experiences that registered to your young mind as bad (whether you actively remember them or not) - can have deep and lasting impacts. Wonder why you do what you do? Feel like you feel? What shaped you? Listen to this episode and check for these twenty ways you could be feeling and behaving that are result of things you may not even think about in your childhood. Good step towards enhanced emotional well-being.
It's NOT direct cause and effect. People and events in your early life CAN lead to the way your feel about yourself in relationship in your later life. This is important to recognize so that you can make conscious decisions about what is best for you NOW. Two children in the same family can have very different perceptions and reactions to the same event. Everyone is different. AND, some of these may resonate for you. Others may be validating. All are good to think about!
    HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS EPISODE:
20 possible responses to what you learned about yourself and others in your family
Not everyone is affected in the same way
Why it's wise to consider these
Knowing what you'd like to change is a powerful start for reclaiming your personal power
What contributes to your ability to trust
Why you may never feel safe
I'm here to help. Let's talk soon.

Every single word you've said is true. We don't have to blame anybody for what we've been through. We simply need to understand ourselves and our personalities to know how to walk through life safely. Remember, it's never too late to change your mindset and shape the life you want.

We grew up with an alcoholic dad which made my mom very angry all the time & we paid for it! Now as an adult I’ve suffered because of it.

my mother passed away when I was 4 and my father is a drug addict and an alcoholic and abused me for 13 years and neglected me and stole from me. took a lot of pain and buckets full of tears to get out of that horrible situation but I now live alone and I haven’t spoken to me father for a year and the trauma has hit and it’s been here for 4 months and sadly now I’m crumbling as I’ve been relying on alcohol for 3 months to help but now I’ve moved onto cocaine because the pain isn’t even possible to put into words :(

I had to be more mature than my narcissistic dad(I was 5, he was 21), he's still childish. I am tired of parenting him. I wish he would grow up already! When he was acting the kid, he'd project and tell me to "grow up" very harshly! I wish he'd take his own advice!

Its time to re_ evaluate the definition of all this shame we have to endure_ those who survived abuse from caregivers. We dont carry our own shame_ we were yoked to our parents toxic shame. Thats why they had kids so they have a dumping ground for all their toxic shame. I have seen this pattern played out over and over. As soon as someone had akid and they start making tahat kid into a football player,a professor ect,ect _ well that kid gets a life of slavery and misery and early cancer. Conditional love who needs this kind if love_ this is not caregiving its a transaction.

At family meetings, all i see is a mother that tortured me from 5 years old and a step sister whose dad did the same, she has his looks and character ...my mental health can dip a lot after the meeting and it takes about a week to get my mental health back to normal...yes I can put my big pants on and laugh at the madness of humanity instead and accept it was my time and place to be abused.Simple.

I disagree. I want to get right into what the video is about. I get tired of hearing how the speaker is qualified at the beginning of every video. Put your qualifications in the notes of the video so I can find them if I am interested.
