Highly recommend running spark of beacons with a chain reaction forbearance (if you have it). This will cause a blinding explosion when you kill things with an arc special weapon while amplified. As you can imagine, one grenade to pre-jolt stuff, fire a forbearance, chain reaction goes off, anything not dead that was close is now blinded
I had a build extremely similar to this when arc 3.0 first dropped. Since the revamped armor charge system, I never got around to remaking it, thank you for saving me the time!
Shinobu’s was the first exotic i fell in love with when i started buildcrafting. It is just so satisfying zooming around punching and throwing grenades.
punching will get you killed with all explosive enemies and in gm, where brawler singe is always there. so many die during finisher when they are not invisible cos champions run auto-destruct
I like the way you almost tell a story with your build videos. Each part of the build coming in at just the perfect moment to keep my attention through the whole video. Love your videos man keep it up!
Hey Mactics, been running this build through GMs the past few weeks and I would highly recommend running Tempest Strike over Lethal Current. In most of this seasons gms, I was rarely in range for Lethal Current and never really got value out of it. Meanwhile, Tempest Strike gives you a quick, ranged jolting option for when your grenade is down, great for if ur being overwhelmed by ads or an overload. And being able to get two of these with Gambler’s is some insane utility in endgame content. Id highly recommend everyone to try it out.
Just wanted to say thanks. Your other builds have transformed my play. I've been enjoying the hell out of the arc melee build and I can't wait to try this one. Glad I subscribed a while back. Good job, fella!
I’ve been waiting for someone to make a build like this! I had one in the old mod system, but am too stupid/lazy to figure out how to get it to work well with the new mods. Thanks man!
Just a little more input and little know info on this build from someone who uses it often in endgame content: TLDR- •Get 60% of grenade back per throw through direct impact •Get >60% grenade back on direct impact + a drone hitting more than one enemy in its blast radius •Drop grenade kickstart for heavy handed and surge mods •Use spark of Beacons and Amplitude •Run Cold Heart/Path of Least Resistance/Iterative Loop/Midha’s reckoning/Macabre New Tricks (Shinobu’s Vow exotic perk) refunds 10% energy on skip grenade impacts. So I bet like Mactics you’re skipping the skip grenade because why not it’s in the name? DO NOT SKIP THEM! If you can directly impact an enemy with the skip grenade you will be rewarded 6 impacts, 1 from the original grenade and 5 from the drones. This already puts you up to 60% per direct impacted grenade giving you 3 full grenade charges in a row to be thrown and already at 80% your 4th grenade (200% - 100% + 60% - 100% + 60% - 100% + 60% = 80%) Now going back to New Tricks, it gives grenade energy back on grenade IMPACT. We just talked about how we can take advantage of the direct impact of the grenade but now let’s talk about the blast radius. With skip grenades inherently being grenades they have a “blast radius” or AOE this includes the drones of the skip grenade. While having a significantly smaller blast radius than a pulse grenade it is still present meaning 1 drone can theoretically hit multiple targets as long as they are in their blast radius. So now we have a base 6 impacts per grenade plus an additional amount refunded for a drone damaging more than one target at a time. I say additional amount because it is hard to quantify with grenade kickstart applied and I am near certain there’s a cap on the total grenade energy returned per throw by bungie to prevent an infinite loop just off the exotic. This all said you don’t need to prioritize grenade kickstart and armor charges can go towards surges instead. Outside of optimizing grenade uptime I would also suggest running the fragments spark of amplitude and spark of beacons alongside spark of ions and spark of shock. Equipping an arc special like cold heart, iterative loop, or path of least resistance with spark of beacons to take advantage of the under utilized verb “blind”. Blind will allow you to throw the last grenade of your loop, kill them from a far, while jolting and blinding everyone in the area to easily walk up and melee them for the grenade regen. Using less grenade kickstarts allows for another source of orbs through heavy handed giving a potential 4 orbs in quick succession. 1 from throwing your grenade through fire power, 2 through shooting an enemy through spark of amplitude and siphon mods, and finally melee-ing the blinded easy targets as they cant fight back (subsequent rotations will get 5th through reaper). Weapon choice is much more of a player preference than anything with the 3 main choices being Cold Heart for the single target damage and ionic traces, voltshot, or golden tricorn.
@@PrototypeDev this season it will be especially but the spark of beacons is super good at crowd control. The whole theme around Arc Hunter, no matter what build, is knowing which target to go for and when. Use your grenades to apply jolt to enemy (especially the champs and majors), then look to kill one enemy per small area with the trace rifle to blind the whole room, then you can start getting aggressive with sustained trace rifle dmg. GMs are where the Coldheart really shines
@Alpha Would you recommend special or arc reserve mods? I seem to run out of cold heart ammo often, even when trying to conserve. Also, any recommendations for primary/heavy?
@@PrototypeDev if ammo is an issue I’d run one reserve mod with special ammo finder. Run 2 special weapons and a heavy. Using coldheart should drop more heavy than normal and if you run out of special ammo switch to your heavy to drop more special. You don’t need to kill with or use any of the heavy ammo you just need to be holding it when enemies die. So just switch to heavy when throwing grenades or before you rush in to punch a couple enemies. Just a fair warning punching is very high risk in GMs so wouldn’t recommend that option.
I've mained Shinobu's on my hunter for the entirety of D2 and some of D1 only stopping when they were briefly ruined but then started again when 3.0 and jolt fixed them but THEN I stopped and went Ahamkara for this season. You've just got me so nostalgic that I'm going to go and rebuild my Shinobu's build right now. If my build isn't great I'll copy yours, thank you dude👍

You always have your dodge anyway cuz your constantly amplified, so getting a melee back isnt an issue, and just use the normal melee for health if in a pinch
Really fun build. I've been running it for a while. It's really fun when you get the right amount of jolt for grenade regen then you melee, get more energy back, grenade, melee then grenade. Very reminiscent of young ahamkara spine with tripmine grenade. Not quite as fast grenade/melee spam but still fun.

Shinobu’s Vow with Arc 3.0 pulled me back into Destiny 2 and is still one of my favorite builds to use. Next season will probably have decent Arc artifact mods, but I am hoping this build doesn’t get nerfed to the ground with the Jolt nerfs coming next season as well… for the seasons after (or Bungie nerfing this build even more if it ends up being too effective with next season’s artifact mods)

as someone who is generally picky with how fun/powerful my builds are, I will vouch for this one. Shinobu's vow isn't something you'd normally think of as great but skip grenades are just so fun. In low end content, you get to see grenades melt ads over and over again and the chain lightning is just so satisfying. Even in high level content, the grenades surprisingly hold their own. This build runs into the same problem with most arc hunter builds, where high health enemies will ruin your cycle and not having ads will put you at a standstill, but that isn't much of a problem if you have a fireteam competent enough to focus yellow bars enemies. Going to pair this with a Voltshot Path of Least Resistance to continue to double special game. 😬
Can confirm that this build works great in Grandmasters. Yes, there are much better options, but during strikes with Overcharge champions, this eats them up fairly quick all while having fantastic add clear.

Question: Do you have to keep armor items for multiple builds in your inventory, or can you switch builds with armor items while they're in the vault? Excellent videos Mactic... subbed!
The loadout system will pull stuff from the vault, but not from other characters. Using something like DIM will pull stuff from other characters too. However, if you're gonna be switching builds around often, you might as well keep the armor in inventory anyways
Brooo, i decided to use this built, constant damage, constant orb creation for constant healing, i can just stand still in the middle of every monster and pretty much have a hard time to get me XD gg
Couple of questions... 1. Riskrunner, yay or nay? 2. Bad JuJu for Solo overload/barrier Nightfalls? (cause I don't trust my teammates...) 3. Monte Carlo a good fallback for melee recovery? (In case I die right after dodging to regen melee and the game says it technically didn't register but you still used your dodge) 4. Thunderlord???
So I found more use out of the fragment spark of haste cause of the many passive buffs and it plays well into the run and gun style of play I do. Now for the exotics I have 3, trinity goul, cold heart and a forgotten one delicate tomb. For massive orb generation trinity goul hands down, champ boss dps cold heart and for me I like tomb cause it creates jolts after traces which we create quite alot and suites the run and gun style but this is just me.
Bro pairing this with a Out Of Bounds smg running demolitionist and adrenaline junkie or Golden Tricorn is downright disgusting. With that semi permanent 33-50% damage buff it absolutely melts ads which refills your grenade energy insanely fast. Decided to run adrenaline junkie since it's easier to keep the buff active even with the shorter 4.5 second duration since both grenade and weapon kills refresh the 33% buff where as the 7 second 50% buff on golden tricorn can only be replenished through ability kills
Love your videos if I have the exotic I try the build lol. I'm working on completing the witch queen campaign with my last character the hunter to get renewal grasp. 😊

I think I like this build way more than the 1333% one…it’s freaking fun!! Tossing grenades almost continuously!! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!
this is gonna be so nutty with a crafted nation of beasts
Awesome build im excited to try it out. That being said the title of this video isn't saying much with how the servers are about to go any day now 😂
Just tried it out, awesome as per usual ⚡️ ⚡️ 💥
Although the comment section has some opposing opinions, this as an alternative to the arc melee build seems like it would quite enjoyable! Anyway, I appreciate the effort and dedication you put into creating such fantastic builds, I can't wait to try it out. Thank you! :)
Now all we need is a raijus harness build to finish the trilogy!
never
@@MacticsG1 You cant run mac.
Always amazing, much appreciated!!
This build is gonna be amazing next season. Artifact mods are nuts.
Never really paid much attention to shinobus. Crazy to think this was right under my nose the whole time.
Another great one, thanks bud
My buddy was running a very similar build in RON. Pretty impressive.
People been sleeping on this forever. I've had a build for this exotic since 2.0 and it's the only arc load out I use.
This will be even better next season when ionic traces can be used to generate armor charge.
What's up with the epic music in the background? Also thank you for the funny grenade build :)
thank you this is awesome this build ^^
Ah, welcome to the shinobu gang
LETS GOO FINALLY THE GOAT OF ALL GMS HAS RETURNED
With these new artifact mods this guild is gonna hit different in season 21.
I had my smoothest Glassway GM runs this season with this build. Do not underestimate this build in endgame content.
Did u ever need the melee? Also how quick are u getting nade back in GM. Think imma use this build
@Mactics if you use cold-hearted instead of ikelos then you get double the ionic traces just saying to get more damage and grenades for the build
Why did you test in the normal campaign instead of legendary?
Brooo, i decided to use this built, constant damage, constant orb creation for constant healing, i can just stand still in the middle of every monster and pretty much have a hard time to get me XD gg
It would be so dope if you would showcase a crucible build variant for exotics that can be good there aswell.
subbed, this is solid stuff
Thata my Gambit build since the Arc update. I love ot!
Couple of questions...
1. Riskrunner, yay or nay?
2. Bad JuJu for Solo overload/barrier Nightfalls? (cause I don't trust my teammates...)
3. Monte Carlo a good fallback for melee recovery? (In case I die right after dodging to regen melee and the game says it technically didn't register but you still used your dodge)
This build is BROK... errrr it's a reasonably good time. Great vid as always.
So now he see the truth, the power of shinobu
Been using Shinobus for SO LONG. I guess since ARC 3.0. ITS THE BEST
I made this same build cause i didnt have star eaters and it turned out pretty insane w/ Trinity Goul
I’ve been running this build for two seasons now
Bro pairing this with a Out Of Bounds smg running demolitionist and adrenaline junkie or Golden Tricorn is downright disgusting.
FINALLY someone brings light to this build, I’ve been using this about a week into Arc 3.0 and it’s PHENOMENAL
Love your videos if I have the exotic I try the build lol. I'm working on completing the witch queen campaign with my last character the hunter to get renewal grasp. 😊
I’ve been running this build since season of plunder.
