Kudos to you. That's more work than I care to handle. I have a 2006 RAV4 with over 216,000 miles and still running pretty well. I've changed the oil every 3500 miles since I bought it knew. So far, all I've changed was the water pump about 6 years ago. I get that timing chain rattle for less than 2 seconds only on very cold days, but like I said, the engine still runs strong.

Yes it would never actually fail (I do not beleve) but it sounds bad
Change to 0w30 oil it may help. It will also not hurt anything 0 means cold how long (in general) to get to tne top of the engine VVT its at all temps a 30 weight in protection. 0 5 15 20 are all W meaning how it flows when 0 degrees F.

Thanks for your video! Do you know if the timing chains can be done with the engine in the vehicle?

Easy enough! The answer is no.
Unlike your parents, I will try to explain why, it will be (near) impossible, lifting the body off it is the way to go, otherwise you will be climbing Mount Everest twice and there is no guarantee you could get it done, it will for sure take 4 times as long if at all possible and placed with such a daunting task no one will try and I assume you found mine looking for just such a person.
To get the water pump pully off you have to jack the motor up and down and find a sweet spot I'm not sure the timing cover will allow that same sweet spot, and getting the new one in without messing up the silicone will be a miracle in and of itself! Also, the oil pan has to be removed regardless as the oil pump is in the timing cover, it is simply not with the risk as once you get started it will be un driveable and if you cannot finish, I promise a shop will charge more then book time to fix it for you...
It is what it is I'm sorry!

Looks like chains are still in good condition by the orange color

They are Toyota despite the VVT lock is a good engine as far as the chain.
