You showed that a fun setup doesn’t have to be very expensive and complex. Well done! I like the idea of the separate rumble output, i might try that too with my rytm!
Hey! Thanks for checking this out. Yeah, techno feels so much more fun and lively for me since I started improvising it. When it's a very repetitive genre, it gets v draining for me to work slowly in a DAW to make it. I admire the musicality of your work in contrast to the groove heavy stuff I'm focusing on. Love your channel✨🪐
@@MikeRenoufI have never been good at making Techno myself. My setup is aimed at bit more towards other genres I guess, but I think you make great grooves! Reminds me of some raves I went to in the past
Thanks so much for this. I’ve been looking for a nice techno rumble for my minimal hardware setup.. the multistomp does a great job. Fun improve session, inspiring! 🙌
Cool! The multistomp is great - its really versatile and I plan to set up other FX combinations on it so I can switch them up during a live session. ✨🪐
Nice rundown, I will have to try the rumble on TR8s track two myself 👍. I think mistakes are really a key part of it/improv, the payoff regularly comes from when your turn them around and suddenly it all falls into place...I think it's the tension of 'oh no!, it is going wrong!' ,but then bam! you're back in the groove again. Although it's also nice to be ultra smooth with no mistakes too, both can co exist :)
I agree with this 100% - the feeling of things slipping out of control but recovering them to make an awesome drop is pretty great 😆. Hopefully listeners appreciate that, but it wouldn't surprise me if we're in the minority. Cheers for lending your insight! ✨🪐
Man I love Your vids! This setup is exactly what I was looking for years!!!! Could you pls share or show more of your component synth preset prog? I don't know why I can't do the same as you do with the modulations....
Hi there! Thanks for watching the video. If you want you can drop me a message via my website and we can have a chat. I'd be happy to talk through how I've made the circuit patches 👍🏻. ✨🪐
Thanks for your message on my website. I sent you an email response - hopefully it got through. If not pls check your spam folder or leave me another note here? ✨🪐
Good jam. The Edge seems to be fitting right in! I truly need to start doing long form jams like you. But in my personal practice, I have never gelled with the looper workflow. I found fading between synth voices easier. What are youre thoughts on the Edge replacing the looper?
Thanks Peter! Yeah, the Edge is a firm favourite already. The looper is great and it does offer a lot of flexibility if making a longer set. The 202 is a little harder to work with than I would like, but I am hoping that will come with more practice for me. I don't think the Edge replaces overall - It's just a different set of options. What is so good about the Edge is that it has so many sweet spots. It's very very easy to make completely random changes to the knobs and still come up with something which is very 'techno'! I might try just the drum machine, edge, and looper one day to see where that takes me. ✨🪐
Yes - all the sounds are from the ACB or samples which came as presets. The beginning of this video has a quick rundown of the kit: ruclips.net/video/wRE3j_fnax8/видео.html
Wow, yes you're right, we have a lot of the same gear! I really should get my TB3 out and learn that one properly - especially after the recent Bad Gear episode about it. 😂
@@MikeRenouf I'm only using my TR at the moment, along with my daw. I do like my TB-3 but I need to spend some lots more time getting to grips with it. And then working out why it has so much latency.
Man, I love your tastes in sounds.
Sound design is so much fun and one of my passions, so that's really great to hear. Thanks! ✨🪐
simple but dynamic setup. congrats
Thanks - yeah it feels like I have a huge amount of territory I can explore with this configuration. I appreciate the comment! ✨🪐

Awesome big sir, 👊 😊
Cheers eMo! Really appreciate the support. ✨🪐
Great video, really appreciate the insight into your workflow!
My pleasure! ✨🪐
Superb video.
Techno seems to be made for live jamming and this setup looks like it was too :)

This is a really cool set you've put together here Mike. I like the way you explained what your using too,
Thanks Chris! Planning to do more improvised stuff soon. Maybe in livestream format so I can answer any questions that crop up in person. ✨🪐
Great to see what you have been up to, sounds awesome !
Thank you Chris! ✨🪐
Sounded good, had some tidy groove and sound’s going on 👍
Cheers PK! I appreciate the comment.✨🪐

Great stuff mate! Enjoyed that and it gave me some ideas too. We have a very similar set up. I'm just missing the novation.
Thanks! What gear are you using? Really happy to hear this might have inspired you a little. ✨🪐
I have TR-8S, Edge, Crave and the multi-stomp. I use a tb-03 too@@MikeRenouf
