    You showed that a fun setup doesn’t have to be very expensive and complex. Well done! I like the idea of the separate rumble output, i might try that too with my rytm!

    Techno seems to be made for live jamming and this setup looks like it was too :)

      Hey! Thanks for checking this out. Yeah, techno feels so much more fun and lively for me since I started improvising it. When it's a very repetitive genre, it gets v draining for me to work slowly in a DAW to make it.
      I admire the musicality of your work in contrast to the groove heavy stuff I'm focusing on. Love your channel✨🪐

      @@MikeRenoufI have never been good at making Techno myself. My setup is aimed at bit more towards other genres I guess, but I think you make great grooves! Reminds me of some raves I went to in the past

    Thanks so much for this. I’ve been looking for a nice techno rumble for my minimal hardware setup.. the multistomp does a great job. Fun improve session, inspiring! 🙌

      Cool! The multistomp is great - its really versatile and I plan to set up other FX combinations on it so I can switch them up during a live session. ✨🪐

    Nice rundown, I will have to try the rumble on TR8s track two myself 👍. I think mistakes are really a key part of it/improv, the payoff regularly comes from when your turn them around and suddenly it all falls into place...I think it's the tension of 'oh no!, it is going wrong!' ,but then bam! you're back in the groove again. Although it's also nice to be ultra smooth with no mistakes too, both can co exist :)

    • @MikeRenouf
      @MikeRenouf  7 месяцев назад +1

      I agree with this 100% - the feeling of things slipping out of control but recovering them to make an awesome drop is pretty great 😆. Hopefully listeners appreciate that, but it wouldn't surprise me if we're in the minority.
      Cheers for lending your insight! ✨🪐

    Good jam. The Edge seems to be fitting right in! I truly need to start doing long form jams like you. But in my personal practice, I have never gelled with the looper workflow. I found fading between synth voices easier. What are youre thoughts on the Edge replacing the looper?

    • @MikeRenouf
      @MikeRenouf  8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Peter! Yeah, the Edge is a firm favourite already. The looper is great and it does offer a lot of flexibility if making a longer set. The 202 is a little harder to work with than I would like, but I am hoping that will come with more practice for me. I don't think the Edge replaces overall - It's just a different set of options.
      What is so good about the Edge is that it has so many sweet spots. It's very very easy to make completely random changes to the knobs and still come up with something which is very 'techno'!
      I might try just the drum machine, edge, and looper one day to see where that takes me. ✨🪐

      @@MikeRenoufare you using the standard kit in the TR8?

    • @MikeRenouf
      @MikeRenouf  7 месяцев назад

      Yes - all the sounds are from the ACB or samples which came as presets.
      The beginning of this video has a quick rundown of the kit:

      @@MikeRenouf I'm only using my TR at the moment, along with my daw. I do like my TB-3 but I need to spend some lots more time getting to grips with it. And then working out why it has so much latency.
