It's only fitting that the greatest player ever also had the greatest trainer ever. Tim Grover's work was just as ground-breaking to the world of athletic training as Jordan's career was to the sport of basketball.
The most important part of what he said is that each sport requires specific group of muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, etc. Not many people realize this.
Man, if I was financially secure, I would hire this guy to be my personal trainer in a heartbeat. His resume speaks for itself. He’s the GOAT of personal trainers
Tim Grover is a great trainer and some of the stories he accumulated in the past 30 years working with multiple NBA All-Stars are simply amazing. A great expert in his field of work and definitely a man worth listening too.
Tim, I love what you have done with your clients! We the sports fans owe you a debt of gratitude for how you dedicated your life and your love to help some of the best athletes so beloved in our world! I wish you and your family the blessings of good health and peace within your family. Thank you for giving your time to do this interview!
When Dwade and Mamba had trained them, their injuries were at most to minimal. Remember that trademark fall-and-slide that MJ and Pip does? He basically program their bodies to fall and slide. Coz me myself am a trainer, though not in a professional level. It's hard to train someone to instinctively let their body fall and slide. And Tim did that to them. As chuck said right at the end 'wish he could've gotten him early part of his career'.
''One of my biggest challenges is keeping the ball away from a guy who isn’t supposed to be playing yet. When I get these great players recovering from injuries or surgeries, I set up a detailed plan for their rehab and return, and the last thing they’re going to be allowed to do is walk onto the court. But try telling that to a guy who has never spent five minutes without a ball in his hand. Perfect example: the great Charles Barkley, probably the most athletically gifted individual I’ve ever seen, and a Cleaner in every way. Charles was working with me after knee surgery, and he was not happy when I said he and his postsurgical torn patella had to stay off the court as long as he was in an immobilizer. He looked at me with that death stare and demanded a ball. Then he stood under the basket and dunked ten times off the healthy foot. Dunked. Ten times. One foot. The boot never touched the ground." Tim Grover is the Michael Jordan of Athletic Trainers. Second to none. 'Jump Attack' and 'Relentless' are his two books. I call them the bibles for us athletes. As a former Basketball Pro, I can assure you his stuff is for real. Helped me tremendously. I wish he was around when I was in my prime at Pro Basketball 26 years ago...
Forget about everything else, pay attention to this. Jordan did not ask his organization to provide his personal trainer with anything that they didnt provide to anyone else. He would have gotten it, but he didnt, to protect the existing culture of boundaries within the organization.
I just happened to run across Tim Grover walking his dog about a week ago, over here in Chicago. So I stopped and said what's up. It was an awesome moment.

It's crazy how incredible Ernie and Chuck are alone. The four of them are funny together, but this podcast makes it very obvious that Kenny and Shaq really don't contribute much of anything that is important. Especially Shaq.
I already knew that it was shady mess that took place with Michael being sick. So glad that The Last Dance documentary exposed how corrupt people were in Utah in that situation. He could’ve suffered a lot worse from that had he ate more. I think that the restaurant and those 5 individuals need to be looked into lawfully because it was obviously deliberate to do him harm. #CorruptionWillAlwaysComeOut #SoonerOrLater #AndTheyStillLost
The pizza hut guy just came out with the story. 2 guys, not 5. The guy who made the pizza who is a huge bulls fan, and his delivery driver. Cigar smoke everywhere, bulls security, bulls teammates. Large thin crust pepperoni. Also, food poisoning can show itself days after you eat, so it's almost impossible to know exactly what it was.
Greg A Nah I’m not buying that. I think they would’ve remembered if it was Pizza Hut for one, for two, the same thing actually happened to Kobe when playing a crucial game on the road, and three, that town has been known for shady practices. #TheyGottaDoBetterThanThat

I wonder if Tim ever used Applied Kinesiology to address any emotional/mental aspects. Not only can AP help to prevent injuries ( if you know how to use energy techniques), but injuries can heal much faster too. Emotional upsets weaken energy flow which can set the body up for injuries. They don't happen just from physical issues.
