omg i've been looking for a review of this guitar for months, i'm so glad you guys did it!!!
I own this guitar. It's a tonal monster. Everything from high gain to clean and absolutely everything in between can be nailed with these pickups. Plays super smooth with the neck and board. The neck joint is a work of art. The wood is super solid. This guitar is heavy! The satin finish is extremely soft to the touch and looks more than amazing in person. 10/10 would buy again if stolen or even to just have another.
I tried this guitar at a Guitarcenter today and it's one of the best guitars I've ever played. I'm a big Mastodon fan but I'm not really into signature stuff as I don't really like fanboyism but this thing is fucking amazing on its own and I would buy it in a heartbeat even without Bill Kelliher's name on it.
Yeah I did actually! About a week after I made this post. I got a new one ordered(ie I didnt buy the one at guitarcenter) and it needed a slight trussrod adjustment and after that it played like a dream. I recommend getting slightly heavier strings(I use 11-56) if you're gonna tune down to D-standard though because of the shorter scale length.

I have an ESP ec 50 and it's on the heavier side but it's my first guitar and it's been treating me well as a beginner. ESPs are great
The sig is definitely cool, but HOLY SHIT the Butterslax sounds ferocious

unlike some of the other brands that put out an affordable range, the LTD's are nice as hell. I love my LTD EC-400VF loaded with the JB humbucker. I can't say it enough. Played to many other guitars that cost more than twice as much and aren't half as nice.

I ordered a custom made pickup from SD this summer named "Passive Aggressor".
Ceramic Invader / SLUG hybrid humbucker, really mean pickup !

Drew Johnson Well, the idea behind it came since I've been using Invader for the longest time in my guitars. It has a tight bass response, chunky mids and great note definiton - but kinda lacks high freq attack. SLUG has the brightness, clarity and the attack; but like most blade humbuckers, it lacks that certain 'Oomph!'.
I haven't found such a pickup on the market that has best of both worlds, while still retaining that note definition and clarity under heavy gain - and still be usable and dynamic on cleans and low gain usage. This provided both. Pretty high output, around 19k. Pushes especially clean channel quite a bit, so volume pot is your friend.

That amp sounds absolutely insane.
I think that signature guitars should come with proper tunings , for example Bill's guitar should come in D tuning or Karl Sanders's Dean should come in drop A so you don't need to file the nut and do all the setup thing ,sorry for bad english but that's my opinion, it makes sense because i am buying guitar for playing their songs. PRS did a great job with Mark Holcomb's signature guitar ( stock drop C tuning ). Please Andertons, propose that to guitar companies you endorse.

See, I was thinking those pickups were very high output. I think the Butterslax gives that impression. Given that knowledge, I would have liked to hear the guitar through an amp we mere mortals might actually have some experience with or that you use often so we'd have a basis for comparison.
Cullen James they are hot pickups n slightly compress but I like em.
Yeah, I just looked them up, they are pretty high output. Neck is 13.3K and bridge is 17.8k. I was just going off what they were saying in the video.

disappointed that ESP/LTD still hasn't figured out how to do a proper string break angle on the head stock on the eclipse. They should take notes from PRS.

Is Anderton's gonna stock some Fishman pickups? The ones Devin Townsend designed seemed really exciting and fresh in technology. I bet Rob can find use for that kind of pickups.
I know it's a metal guitar and amp but would have been interesting to hear how low gain you could have gone with them. Maybe try distort the clean for Captain tones.

Rob makes every amp sound the same. And that sound ain't the best to be honest. Always the same mid high rock sound, even when playing really heavy stuff. I don't get it!! Lovely guy but arrgghhhh
