You just listed everything you could here, not just what was actually put on the build. 4 different panniers...5 different bark busters? 🙄 Can't even say what size tank bag was used!
Ha, same colour as mine. Changed mine to all LED lights, inc the indicators. Used flexible LED ones off Ebay. Much brighter and don't have to worry about them breaking. RaceTech suspension in the front, contemplating what to put in the rear as the stock is shagged, too soft. LED driving lights up high, and LED running lights down low on the SRC crash bars. Made my own rack for soft luggage as most commercial ones stick out too far. Upgraded CAM, Fuel-X, Iridium plug, AGM battery, ZUMO XT. Beaten the crap out of this bike on remote outback roads and bush tracks here in Aus. More fun than my 800GS was, even if its slow, and I'd say more comfortable.
I have a 2020, added OEM pannier rack, Renthal handlebar, windscreen extender, accessory bar, QuadLock phone holder, PoweRage exhaust, DNA filter and cover, waterproof bag style saddlebags, NR tank bag, and Shinko 705's. Still a lot more I want to do with it, it's an awesome bike! Oh, and a few stickers for the +5 hp! :D
I have used the SRC rear carrier plate, SRC crash bars and skid plate. Don't get the Hitchcock cam go witn the TEC cam, much better, no decompression and way more power. Adjust tps properly, mine starts good in cold weather and settles down to an idle after 30 seconds at about -5 C. Valve clearances make a big difference, mine were out from factory and setting them properly stopped a lot of funny things like random stalling.. Ii check mine every 3000 kms, and have only adjusted them twice in the last 12,000 kms Double take mirrors, great once set up properly. People tend to over tighten them and snap things. Just tight enough to stop them vibrating out of place and they still fold out of the way if you hit things.
I found those Double Take mirrors to be a waste of time as they need to be so tight to keep them in place on the rough stuff that when you fall over they wreck the mounting thread. May as well stay with the standard mirrors to be honest. The Happy Trails bash plate is brilliant and highly recommended - no need for crash bars as the bash plate protects the engine in a road crash too (don't ask...). I recently fitted the Hitchcocks stage 1 cam (with the decompressor) and it is a great improvement both in torque and MPG, so I can recommend that.
I haven't had that problem with the double takes, but we have had a few get a bit loose just from wear and tear of riding and a small bit of electrical tape to shim them helps hold them up. I had the decompressor spring go out around 14k. I put in the stage 2 cam from Hitchcock's. Definitely an improvement!
Love the build. I have a 2021 himi and ive done pretty much the same upgrades as you, I just need the brake peddle and shift lever . Question tho, what foot pegs are those?
These pegs are from a KTM 390 Adventure. They fit the Himalayan and work but they do sit at a funky angle. We are working on some foot pegs specifically for the Himalayan so stay tuned!
Thanks for the video! I love what you did with the headlight bulb and thumper jockey lights. I can’t find the link to buy them for my 2023 Himalayan. Do you sell them on your website? Thanks!
Would you be willing to put a list of links to these parts in the description? I'm actually having a hard time finding some of them on your site. Thanks.
Can i Ask what your weight would be fully geared up? Im looking at getting a himalayan and i feel we are pretty close in size so it is promising to see a bigger person on them.
It depends on what kind of riding you want to do! The Versys 300X leans more towards the street & sport touring side, while the Himalayan is definitely more off-road focused. Also the Versys 300X has a twin cylinder, more modern engine with longer service intervals.
I just bought and installed the SW-Motech skid plate & Givi engine guards. The skid plate sits VERY close to the oil filter. Do you or anyone else, know if you can remove the oil filter with this skid plate installed? If not, it will be a huge pain if you have to remove this skid plate AND engine guards to change oil!
With just the Givi guards it comes out no problem. With both there's a hole on the skid plate allows you to slide out the long 8mm oil filter cover bolt. I have to use an 8 mm wrench to remove the top bolt but there is enough clearance for the oil filter to come out.

The build quality has been pretty great overall. There are a few aspects that I think that could be improved but it's a pretty sturdy bike. It's survived some gnarly rides like devil's racetrack and the Saddle Sore 1000 where it did 1000 miles in 24 hours!
The best thing about the RE is the price, it might even be reliable but it’s still a 5 speed and 20 HP or so. Not much top end for the freeway either. Plus, no dealers near me.
Definitely not a long-haul freeway bike. I try and take the backroads and it's lead to some sick adventures. I'm also hoping their dealer network expands!
You may be surprised. Check out this fantastic video from FortNine regarding manufacturing conditions of the 12 major motorcycle manufacturers. It is entertaining and enlightening. ruclips.net/video/9GAUo8eUXeU/видео.htmlsi=u8cfVd0d0awBnSQS
I had an... incident...in the salt flats and surprisingly have not had much rust problems. I've definitely noticed it likes to drink oil on long high RPM sections, but not super bad. I try to avoid those anyway and take the slow scenic routes.
3 years with mine, I live in a coast humid city, do a lot of desert/salty lakes and almost no rust at all, is all about cleaning the bike once a week and use destilated water. Engine is running smooth and flawless, almost no consumption of engine oil after 21.000km on mine. Regular and on clock maintenance is the key. I'm not sure if you have/had a 411, but seems like you don't know much about them.

Hello, what kind of footpegs you used on this build?
@@chunfuio For this build we ended up putting on KTM 390 pegs.
I have a Scram 411 and I'm definitely going to order the Tusk shift and brake levers.

Lake blue is best color! Sounds like an awesome build to explore Aus!
In the UK, we would probably call this bike Triggers Broom. 😊👍

Have fun!!
Where is the GPS mount bolted on? I see you are using the mount that came in the zumo kit, where is it bolted?
I would also like to know this.
I have this bike in Thaïland where i leave.

Amazing bike.
Lots of smiles per mile! Thanks for watching.
Does the SW-Motech skid plate work with the Givi motor guard with out any modifications to either component?
Yep! They come quite close to touching on the right-hand side but installing them required no modification.

I'm 6' 3" and probably 280 geared up on a good day haha. It still does alright on the short highways sections I do.
is this better then a kawasaki versys 300x?

did you add a riser? or just the handle bars? did you have to rewire?
Just a higher bend of handlebars was enough for me, and I didn't have to rewire anything.
awesome - thanks what bars were they?@@mckayhallows170

It's made in India. Not exactly the place for quality control.
Ktm and BMW are also Made in India. It depends on how much a cpmpany wants to build quality.
The one thing I noticed at the dealership was the quality of the welds. While they may suffice to hold, I can assure you they do not look it.
