Enjoying watching your videos, Just bought an 02 k1200lt and I love it! I work w a guy who collects Bmw bikes for years and has some for sale w hardly no miles if you know people interested. Ik he’s got an r1100 limited edition w less than 20 mi on it! Blue and white, sexy bike. Luckily the bike I bought already has a lot of work already done, including the stainless brake line swap, 🙄 thank goodness. It’s what sold me on it, the meticulous maintenance logs and work that’d been already done. Damn bike is like a giant crotch rocket! I love it! She’s known as the silver bullet here 😂

I would like to ask a question....while doing the air filter on my K1200LT...I found out that nobody had ever changed it in 67000 kms. And I found out why as it was a massive undertaking having had a broken back....but I found the mouse nest in the intake ...lucky enough wasn't on the intake side for the fuel system....dodged a bullet there....but noted the starter on this machine is in an ungodly spot...looks like a hellish project....could you do a video on that? Also...someone had removed my disconnects from fuel lines....which I ordered the new ones that aren't plastic at a whopping 164$ ....this whole bike is a nitemare....also have front speakers not working....maybe a video on that too?

You said you don't need to take the assembly off to replace the pads. How do you spread the pads with the assembly on the bike, without damaging the disc? Can you pry against the disc? Thanks for the video!

I have a 2002 LT my rear rotor seems to be loose or wiggles. Is this normal? I know some are "floating" rotors and the brake pads keep them aligned. Getting ready to do major maintenance to the bike. Lost all rear brake and checking this first.

Do you have to loosen the cap on the brake fluid reservoir before prying the pads apart? I've got a 2002 LT and I'm just got my MD615 rotor and EBC pads in this week. Going to give it a try. Thanks for these great videos.

When do the pistons have to be cleaned and how? Or is a little air all that is required? I know the car dealers like to clean the pistons for proper retraction?

you do not need to loosen the cap first.

It is a rattling rear rotor. Annoying noise

Do you have one for the Front Pads on a 1999 K1200LT please?
Also is there a huge difference between Kevlar Carbon Pads Made in China and EBC Brake Pad - Sintered Double H Pads?
Can I mix the 2 sets in the front?
Shall I put one pair on one rotor and the other pair on the other rotor or mix them ?
    Thank you so much.

+baba mama I think you should go with one or the other, not both. Dont mix them. To see how to change the pads see my vid on removing the front wheel. I cover it there. Removal is very similar to the rear.

+illinoisBMWriders Tried to replace the front pads on the bike. The right side went on Ok...was able to push all 4 pistons all the way down. The Left side was a headache....even though I opened the fluid reservoir and removed some of the fluid so it would not over flow.
Still one piston would go down and the other would go up and back and forth.
Finally out of frustration I re-installed the worn out pads back as I was not able to install the new ones....will not fit.
Ive worked on a lot of cars, including BMW. But this BMW bike is a pain in the ass.....everything cost a lot of money, and usually complicated.
The latch on the back luggage broke couple of months ago since it is made out of Pot metal. You think a $30K motorcycle (when new) would have better material.
Also the steering locking mechanism stopped working. This is on a Bike with only 30K miles.
Fuck BMW, next time I am buying a Honda motorcycle.

@@AB-hx9hs I feel your pain, I have a 1998 Honda VFR with over 85,000 miles on it and it never gave me any problems. If you have a BMW you have to want to embrace pain and suffering.
