One thing Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Venus and Serena all have in common is an extremely focused father. Father's, especially confident, strong and protective ones transfer that confidence to their children. When children feel safe, they are more apt to take risks because they have a proven safety net. Then at some point they see that the world doesn't implode and success comes they grow to stop needing the safety net. Joe Jackson had the Jackson's a Las Vegas residency as children. He was in the room where it happened (see Hamilton)

Fulfillment is not something you obtain. Its something you realize you already are. Fire can not burn itself. We have been trained to think we need to gain something to feel fulfilled in life, but really it’s about letting things go. Once you do that you see who/what you really are

This was another great episode! For me, fulfillment includes great relationships, meaningful work, and peace of mind. However, it also includes not neglecting my inner world and doing the deep inner work.

I think the word David was looking for is "prepared" .. he's prepared in the event something undesirable occurs, insteada wearing blinders. It's just like the weather. One can say there'll be no tornados all you want in a town with volatile weather patterns, but why not be prepared? That isn't quite as extreme as expecting a tornado. It's just, I got my bunker just in case lol.
Imagine if no one prepared for fires. There's be no fire fighters. Etc

Purpose is not one thing or a career necessarily. It can be expressed through your work though. Purpose is not passion. Purpose is when you express who you were created to be. It shows up when you’re expressing your passions, values, and nature abilities in combination to serve someone or something beyond yourself. It took me 20 years to discover this and now I am fulfilled every day. Yes, things go wrong, but I am fulfilled because I am being who I was created to be. 34:43
I've been in this stage of life purpose discovery for a few years now, and I'm 47. It's been very liberating.

It was through such a time of loss that my spiritual eyes began to open & I adopted the mantra of 'life is 4 the living.' I became committed to being authentically me and embracing whatever that looked like. I learned so much about myself, blocks of childhood memories came flooding back into my consciousness, I confronted and forgave those that abused me as a child, it took 40 years to get to this place. I even healed my maternal wound. Through it all, I realized my purpose is to inspire, encourage, and motivate others to be the best version of themselves for the collective good of all. I have done this in my work as an educator, I'd say it was through the death of my Father in 2020 and me being hospitalized in 2021 with COVID. I confronted and forgave those that abused me as a child. It took 40 years to get to this place. I even healed my maternal wound.

I agree with David about manifestation. I appreciate the logic in his thinking. Like he said, the definitions of some of these words are inconsistent and all over the place. As David also stated, positive and negative things will happen to you no matter how much "manifesting" you do, and some people give credit to manifestation when it wasn't that at all.
Manifestation is speaking, thinking and knowing you can have something, then putting action behind those words, thoughts and feelings to bring it into your reality. Manifestation is not just speaking and thinking then sitting around waiting for it to come to you. YOU HAVE TO GO OUT AND CREATE IT. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

@@TrunxKraft3000 faith is apart of it. But you can have faith, believing sis gonna happen but not move your feet. “Faith without works is dead”. You must put action behind that faith to make it manifest into your reality.

This was a fun conversation. 🤣 On the topic of manifestation, David would probably need to study metaphysics, because he would need to hear a scientific explanation to see that it makes sense lol. But I think purpose is about the impact you want to make on the world from your heart. And I believe we find fulfillment by aligning our lives with that. The lack of fulfillment, and sometimes depression and anxiety comes from the absence of that alignment. I'm working on testing this out though.

If you pray, you are literally taking the first step of manifesting. IMO anyway!
I get what Dave's hangup is on manifesting but he is his own example. The challenge with the manifesting method is determining which one came first, the chicken or the egg. But Donni is exactly correct, whether you are aware of your thoughts or not, you are drawing things to you. Controlling your thoughts is possible with discipline and commitment.

I want to offer you language to incorporate as you reference homeless people.
To add dignity to these individuals, the terminology that is used is persons who experience homelessness. To extend it further, poor people -> persons who experience poverty.
Why? Because it is an experience that they are currently living and not apart of their identity.
I used to work at a legal nonprofit that served persons who experience homelessness
