I was wondering why Sol's voice sounds so weird, then it hit me:
Sol sounds like a badguy ( -BECAUSE IT'S IN HIS NAME AHHH- )
Really, grab a picture of any villain and hear Sol's lines. I feel bad for the voice actor, they did dirty with him
The Japanese voice sounds more clear and low, like a cool old uncle.
The English voice sounds more rough, like a singer after party, if that makes any sense. It's not "bad", it just doesn't suit Sol's personality.
The other characters, as far I've heard, sound ok.
To be fair hes kind of an ass earlier in the series to me so saying it would fit the persona never stuck with me lol as cool uncle. Hes got every right to be but yeah

So i finally caved in and bought GG Strive, and im currently going through the Dojo.
Boy going from mashing buttons in Tekken, to properly learning the mechanics of a fighter is TOUGH.
Sols english VA is like "ok but what if I pretend to be an orc for a few lines?"

The intros and music are really rad but I do find it humorous that most fights are ~20 seconds and the intros feel longer lol.

@@MilesTailsProwerX1 I mean, hearing repeated barks is part of the fighting game experience; I've heard Sagat yell "Iger!" more times than I could hope to count. It's more the pitch of the Japanese May which grated on me.
People are less critical of voice actors when they can’t understand the language. There’s nothing wrong with preferring the game in Japanese, but it’s important to remember this when someone says “eww dubs are trash.”

I don't prefer either dub or sub in most anime related things, but Jouji Nakata's voice is one i can never get enough of. Alucard from Hellsing comes to mind. He has this subtle tremble in his voice that kind of sounds like he's either holding back hysterical laughter or intense anger, yet he still sounds calm and composed at the same time.

I was losing the will earlier being stuck in floor 10, then my local’s discord group invited me to a private room and they were all flabbergasted that I was at the 10th cause they were all stuck at 4-6.
You’re the measurement of your own success. Pop off a little when you win even if it’s just a game or two. It’s all bullshit blazing folks, you just have to let loose and smell the game.
Floor 10 is still something. Even Justin Wong was stuck there trying to get into heaven for a good while.
People should honestly just see and use ranked to get appropriate 50/50 matchups.

There’s a LOT of systems to learn if you want to be any good at GG. Like, most people can do it, but you’re definitely learning a whole new skill. Just enjoying the pretty colors and amazing soundtrack is valid and cool.

In Accent Core you could choose between Daisuke Ishiwatari and Jouji Nakata to voice Sol and Order Sol, independently. From Xrd onwards it's all Nakata.
Like is the japanese Sol better? Hell yeah, but english did a good job.

I've been thinking about getting into a fighting game (haven't played seriously since Virtua Fighter 4 and Tekken Tag on PS2). Tekken 7 and Guilty Gear Strive both look awesome but GG looks a bit easier to initially hop into. Going to keep watching some gameplay and make a decision soon!

Tekken 7 is a very hard game to master, but not that hard to get into as there are still a lot of new people and it has a good ranking system which will prevent you from fighting against skilled players. GG Strive of course is the newer game with only new players so both of them are easy to get into honestly.

At around 16:30 (from there and the rest of that fight). In the background, anyone else noticed the lady trying to tell the man (husband? father? generic NPC guy?) there's a fight happening, but the man is just too busy looking at the scenery with the binoculars. I love details and short / cycled / looped animations like that in backgrounds of fighting games.
Ok so when he goes "vortex", is that a separate move from Volcanic Viper? Because if not that incredible speed and range increase is scary as all hell!

I’ve been playing Faust a bunch on release (he’s always been a personal favorite), but I feel like almost every single one of his moves CANNOT compete against other normals, he really depends on the opponent being afraid of items and most characters can rush through those projectiles easily if played correctly. This is of course based on like 4 hours of play that I’ve done 3 of which was online
Faust has some gatling setups that can end with scarecrow doing over 50%

No, he says "bandit" in a way that he's building-up to something. Which given the moves you can go into, he says something afterwards. It's Bandit... Bringer, Bandit.... 'whatever he says when he kicks after.'

I could be imagining it but it's like eng dubs have completely different voice direction, they don't really try to copy jp voice "mannerisms" as much. Whether that's good or not is really up to your preference. Like how I think jp Sol is too iconic to stray away from, while at the same time I prefer eng May cause she doesn't sound like a dang 5-year old.

David Forseth has a naturally higher pitched voice than Jōji Nakata, that's why he sounds like he's growling when he voices the attacks - he's forcibly trying to lower his own voice.
I don't know how the English VA casting for Guilty Gear is done, but I think Christopher Sabat would've been a far better voice for Sol.
