Thank you, Emma! I am an out-of-shape beginner (but not seriously heavy) and have taken my first class in Peloton's beginner program. (FYI, I'm on the "old" side of the chronological spectrum.) I've watched a lot of your reviews today and in addition to the helpful info for beginners, I appreciate the range of topics you've presented, your straightforwardness, assessments, and overall commentary on your experience.!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed them and enjoy riding!! :)
What a great video! Thanks for all the descriptions of the classes; really helpful.
thank you!! :)
Great explained! Thank you very much! :)
Great video! Just ordered my bike so watching tip videos in the meantime. This is a great breakdown on the classes, now I'm really excited
Thank you!! Enjoy riding :)
Just wanted say I found your channel while I was on the fence about spinning. I have a Nordic track but enjoy the Peloton app more than Ifit. I learned a lot from your channel. Keep up the great content.
Thank you!! Glad you are enjoying riding! :)
New subbie here. I just ordered my bike and watching lots of videos while I wait. I am an out of shape beginner so I will be bingeing your videos. Thanks for this invaluable information…💕
Thank you!! I bet you'll love riding, enjoy your new bike when it comes!! :)
Thank you for this video I'm getting my bike on Wednesday and need as much help as possible to be able to succeed
enjoy riding!! i'm sure you'll love it!
Would love to see a video on how you adjust your bike to you. I've been looking for videos for how to set up my bike to avoid getting injured while I ride.
Ooo thank you for the suggestion, I can work on that!
awesome! i got my bike on march 25th and have been having a blast. i haven't taken a true day off yet, but this video gave me a lot of perspective! thanks for this!
So exciting!! Enjoy riding :)
I did my first ride yesterday and i took cody rigbys class :)
congrats!! enjoy riding :)
first comment! WOOO!!!
Hey Emma. Great content. Do you know which rides to do are the best to get special badges? I’ve got a Artist Series, Women’s History Month and Broadway Series but wondered if you knew the best rides to get others?
Ohh there are a ton! You always get badges for special month rides (like you said women’s history month, but also latinx heritage month, black history month, pride rides), also you get badges from all star rides, Jess King experience, Sunday’s with love, homecoming rides, honestly there are so many badges to get!
@@EmmaAdamss great! Thanks Emma.
@@MattSaysHello also check out the website from “pelobuddy”. There is a list of all the badges & special achievements and classes you need to take to earn these. But most of the very old ones can not be earned anymore, but there are still a lot!
@@EvanescenceGirly ohhhh, thanks really appreciate that!
Getting the bike and jumping right in was a humbling experience. I've been riding for over 20 years, but mainly on an exercise bike the past 5 years. I have gotten my self to a pretty comfortable level and even reduced my resting heart rate to 48, but none of that prepared me for what I was about to experience. I took a beginner's 20 minute class and ended up in the top 1%, then I took at 30 minute advanced beginner and got the top 1%. However, I was pretty much at my max. The last part of the second ride had me pinned up against my max HR of 196. Maybe it is my fault for keeping at the top end of the cadence and resistance. Still, if this is any indication, I need to improve more than I thought. I think my last bike was partly to blame as it wasn't designed to getting up and really going all out.
I wonder if all beginner rides from each instructor are the same. I did both from Leanne Hainsby (something motivating about her British accent).
I ended up doing a 10 minute warmup, 30 scenic and 10 cooldown this morning.
I think the instructions of all the beginner rides are pretty similar from all the different instructors, just them trying to put their own personality into it! Still top 1% is super impressive! If you like Leanne for her accent you should also checkout Hannah Frankson, she’s also British and I find her voice super soothing!
@@EmmaAdamss I need to find someone with both versions of the bike. I've been reading that some believe the calibration for resistance is different between the two. Some believe that since the base bike is manually calibrated once (before delivery) and the plus is calibrated regularly by the electronics, that there is plenty of room for differences between them. That 50 on the base bike could be 40 - 45 on the plus. That mean someone pushing it at 50 on the plus would be doing what the base bike does at 40 - 45. Some that have upgraded have stated they can't pedal along at the resistance they used to on the old bike. They have to lower it by up to 10.
If all this is true, it make it hard to do some of the older classes if they are all based on the first bike. Also makes you wonder what they would be using for the newer classes.
@@robertmerrill9849 yeah I think calibration is a huge problem in general, I have read that it can be very different on each bike! not sure if the bike+ has fixed all those issues, but definitely hard to compare yourselves to others when calibration can be all over the place!
Hey girl! What kinds of rides do you recommend for weight loss? Thanks :)
Honestly just any longer rides in general! And then also HIIT rides are also good for weight loss!
Any advice for the booty hurting lolll
rest days!!! and do a cool down ride and stretch afterwards :)
