    Cool video as usual! One comment though: Lasius schiefferdeckeri is not a contemporary species, but it is possibly the present day Lasius species have developed from it.

    This was an amazing video. Not even any of the professionally made vidoes are this in depth.
    As of 2024, Ive learned that most scientists believe that Hell ants were mostly arboreal, or were tree-associated in lifestyle. This is very in-line with virtually all of the most primitive ant species still extant. Dinosaur ants being a perfect example.
    They also recently concluded that its unlikely hell ants produced true sterile worker casts. Virtually all of the most primitive ants and many wasps are ergatogynes. Thus they likely also reproduced by colony or commune fission.

    Nice thanks, I got directed here by Artur! that's my hand collecting Eocene amber at 14:25 mark, Phil Barden, Bo Wang and Vincent Perrichot wrote a paper on some of these weird hell ants New remarkable hell ants (Formicidae: Haidomyrmecinae stat. nov.)

    very interesting. i would have however believed that wasps evolved from ants, not viceversa! surprisingly how many different species there are out there
