Unlike in the 1989 animated original, an ordinary human being couldn’t survive being that close to a whirlpool, especially since this is supposed to be a live action movie. Ariel easily survived because she was still a mermaid at this moment.
Why not ?
@@micahfranklin4560 Have you ever heard of someone surviving a major whirlpool like that?
@@patrickwilson1459 Nope let alone seeing one or anyone get near one
@@micahfranklin4560The suction will keep them immersed under the ocean and drown them…far too powerful
its just to create a woman power moment. Disney did not care about if things make sense at all. Why whould they care in this scene?
I love the way ursulas tentacles wrapped around the boat and how her hand moved in the air reaching out to the boat fantastic
The original disney animation was much better, ursula gets impaled and struck with lightning and also the prince is supposed to save the princess.
Well you wanted people to be "woke," here, have this.
@@jaxonmcalleylol no one wanted this, only Disney
They really messed it up.
But Ariel is the one who caused the mess in the first place so it makes more sense for her to fix the problem?
@@Wizard608 And it makes more sense for Eric to kill Ursula because that way Triton could learn not all humans are bad.
So satisfying when her aunt is defeated and Ariel fighting her aunt was actually in a deleted scene version from the animated version.
Also, Ursula does not get electrocuted in this version, only skewered like squid shish kebab.
If Ursula got electrocuted and we saw her Skelton and remains I have a feeling it would cause the film to get a pg13
@@budderball2132it’s already scary as it is😭
@@offgun6466It’s not that scary :|
Having Ariel kill Ursula instead of Eric makes no sense. I mean, how is Triton going to learn he was wrong about humans? Think about it, you usually earn someone’s trust by helping them.
Eric went after Ariel and tried to save her when she was kidnapped by Ursula. For me that’s enough to prove that he’s a good a person and that he really cared for Ariel.
@@josuealc6259 but Triton didn’t witness it. He was dead.

0:18 If I were Eric, I’d close my eyes.
In the original Eric was onboard the shipwreck and impaled Ursula but here in the remaster Aerial does the role so in the remaster in the climax the roles are reversed.
I wish they made her scream like in the original. It would've made it more dramatic.
Although this has nothing to do with Disney but while filming The lord of the rings movies, Christopher Lee (Actor of Saruman, and WW2 Veteran) corrected Peter Jackson on what people do when they're stabbed based on his witnessing such deaths up close. Jackson wanted Lee to scream in scene but he refused and told Jackson that men stabbed in the back never screamed but merely sighed as air escaped their lungs.
Ikr she got impaled by a ship and just awkwardly sank back into the ocean… anti climactic
0:22 “Now!”
Spoken like a true ship captain.
What's Eric's purpose? What is he for?
At this point, he's just there for the sake of plot.
Well he did throw a harpoon at Ursula and plus even though he actually has a lot more character development in this film it’s nice to get a bit of a change from the original even though this film is actually a loving tribute to the original!

FUN FACT: even in the 2008 Broadway musical Ariel kills Ursula by breaking her shell, where she keeps her voice, and in the musical the shell keeps Ursula alive, so on one side I’m not that much surprised, but on the other hand yes I also agree that it’s a very big and dramatic change. But I also understand that we’re all living in a historical period where it’s a very delicate topic to discuss about (sexism and feminism) bit y’all have to remember that those are fairytales that have their age and are quite old so this is a perfect explanation to why Disney movies are sexist.
P.s. How is it possibile that Ariel knows how to turn a steering wheel and doesn’t know how to use a fork? 😅
Probably because she's seen Eric steer a ship, but has never seen someone eat with a fork.
She learned throughout the movie
Agreed. People get offended so easily nowadays that drastic changes must be made to please these "unfortunate souls."
@@kinggermy5571 that’s different. When it comes to broadway, a lot of stuff is limited. They couldn’t exactly have Ursula turn giant and wreak havoc on the ocean.

First fans complain about how in the original animated movie, Ariel barely did anything in the climax and had everyone fix her mistakes for her. And now here in the live action remake, she actually does something in climax and fixes her mistakes herself and fans are complaining that she stole Eric's kill. Seriously fans need to make up their mind!

You are the arbiter of what fans are? What are you a fatty teenager?
And afterwards, Triton realized humans were good because he saw that a human did not kill the evil sea witch but his daughter did.
Okay, she *did* technically steal Eric's kill here... BUUUUUUUT this *is* her movie so I say she gets a pass.
There is no Eric's kill. It was Disney's version of the original story by Christensen. And in the original one, the mermaid even k/lls herself... So disney can do whatever they want to with the script.

Guys, go easy on them. If they think the remake is better than the original then that's their opinion. Yes, you can disagree with them, but you shouldn't go as far as telling them to get help as if they're insane for thinking that. That's kinda harsh don't you think?
Even when dying after being impaled, giant Ursula let out a monstrous demonic bellow.
Ursula getting impaled is a literal Happy Wheels sound.

Idk why it gives me chills lol
This completely misses the point of this scene's purpose in the original. Like the original, it should have been ERIC saving ARIEL. Why? First of all, it would be returning the favor after Ariel saved him from drowning. Secondly, it's what makes Triton let go of his hatred of humans and see that Eric would be a good husband for Ariel. So, having Eric be the one to kill Ursula and save the day makes far more narrative sense. But, no. In today's Hollywood, showing damsels in distress is taboo.
La verdad me gustó mucho el cambio de que Ariel sea quién derrote a Ursula,ya que sería como una forma de ella enmendar los errores que cometió
Well, that was anticlimactic
Cya bye Ursula! This is so different than I watch on animated version. Eric, safe Ariel, but Ariel save her true love. That's what I'm talking about #girlpower
Making Ariel and Ursula related is kind of a minus. Ursula felt more menacing the less you knew about her.
Ursula destroy by the power she sought.
Happy Trails, Ursula!
Sadly I don't like this movie of The Little Mermaid.
In this scene it's so dark and I can't see clear.
Ursula's face is impossible to see.
I prefer the way it was in the animated classic movie and the Broadway musical.
The Broadway musical will always be a live action remake movie of The Little Mermaid to me since it's so many things I loved in it.
Among them are the songs.
I saw Ursula’s crown fell out of her head in the water
yep. felled off.
Sorry witch but there’s no way she’ll let you win!
Jesus Christ…. A 35 year old, hand drawn cartoon really ramps up the excitement for the climax…. This is so meh…. And you can barely see anything…
Pppfff! 😂 I’m sorry! No huge screams and wails from Ursula? And it took a very quick minute and a half to defeat her? And how realistic to have Ariel defeat her steering a ship with fins! Lol It made sense when Eric saved the day and he also proved himself to Triton and the merpeople, but for some reason, this makes more sense! 😂 Worst decision in the film. Ariel being so self sufficient in this film is such a turn off because she’s not relatable. She never needs help from anyone ever and that ruins the story for me.
The Litte WokeMaid should be the correct title for this movie I feel xD
I actually love this one better because it is more realistic.
