  • Covid toe, caused by the immune response to the virus, not the virus itself
    covidskinsigns.com
    onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/f...
    Objectives
To study skin and blood endothelial and immune system activation
    In chilblain-like lesions (CLL),
CLL in comparison with healthy controls and seasonal chilblains (SC)
(cold-induced sporadic chilblains occurring during 2015 and 2019)
    Methods
    Observational study
    Saint-Louis Hospital, Paris, France
    N = 50
    Cytokine assays
Assessment of interferon-stimulated gene expression in whole blood
Soluble markers of endothelial activation and/or angiogenesis
    Histological examinations
    Lateral flow spike assay
    Circulating endothelial cell counting
    Statistical analysis
    Results
Histological patterns were similar in CLL and SC groups
Transcriptomic signatures overlapped in both the CLL and SC groups
    Type I interferon
    Cytotoxic-natural killer gene signature
CLL were characterized by higher IgA tissue deposition
More complement and angiogenesis factors in CLL compared with SC
    Autoimmune vasculitis
    Confirmed endothelial dysfunction in CLL
    Microangiopathy leading to clinical chilblains
Disrupt the thrombo-protective state of endothelial cells
    Likely contributing to microvascular thrombosis
    Systemic endothelial activation?
The PT ratio and aPTT were normal in all patients
Only three patients (6%) had a moderate increase in D-dimer levels
    Conclusions
Inflammation in the skin in CLL
    Associated with endothelial alteration
Immune infiltration of cytotoxic and type I IFN-leading to clinical manifestations
    www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-588...
    UK podiatrist Dr Ivan Bristow
like the regular chilblains typically seen during cold spells and in people who have problems with circulation - the lesions usually go away on their own.
But some may need treatment with creams and other drugs.
The confirmation of the cause will help to develop new treatments to manage it more effectively
Dr Veronique Bataille, consultant dermatologist, British Skin Foundation
Covid toe was seen very frequently during the early phase of the pandemic, but has been less common in the current Delta variant wave.
That might be down to more people being vaccinated or having some protection against Covid from past infections.
Presentations after vaccination are much rarer
Delayed presentation my mean link is missed

I'm so glad this was covered. I would like to see genetic connections on this as well as vaccination reactions. I had covid toe in March 2020 after exposure to covid in NYC. It was severe on one foot with some generalized rash very mild. My foot had blisters the size of marbles. My doctor was baffled. No one knew of covid toe at the time. Fast forward a year. My daughter had covid diagnosed by test (unlike mine) and her reaction was a hives like rash with breathing difficulties. Interesting thing, after receiving the Johnson and Johnson vaccine I've had pustular palmer psoriasis for the past 4 months. I feel sure it's all connected. Glad you confirmed this covid toe. This really explains what happened to me April 2020 2 weeks after a sore throat in March during that first lockdown . I had giant circles all over my torso and one leg that had turned bright red from the knee down with one red toe .
I looked like a mess and went to the only clinic that would even see me , it was new so the Dr really did not know what was going on . She was half right saying my leg was eczema . It was vascular eczema .The circles she had no idea but I wouldn't make another apt with a dermatologist unless it got worse because the hospital was in crisis mode . I have crazy pictures of me but it a month it all was gone magically disappeared .I consider myself lucky because I have asthma and lung damage from previous infections so I think I probably lucked out .
I was already on my Vitamin D and zinc ,thank you Dr Campbell and Med Cram for being with us from the beginning . My Dr had my d levels checked recently and I am right in the middle of being good levels 2000 units a day .

Not so long ago on these threads comments questioning the ethics of big pharma were often met with ridicule and chants of "conspiracy theorist" however, it is now widely accepted that they are indeed a corrupt entity and trust is waining. We "conspiracy theorists" also warned back in March 2020 that there'd be "vaccine passports" and that those taking the jabs would need continuous boosters to keep the passports up to date. Again the vast majority said that would never happen. It was around this time when Boris Johnson was preaching 2 weeks to flatten the curve. It also was predicted early on that they'd blame and target the "unvaccinated" and label us as anti-vax because we don't like their experimental jabs. It's like labelling someone anti-walking because they chose to cycle around the park.

@@pedrosmith4529 According to Kirsch, the vaccination program should be immediately halted, as the VAERS data suggest more than 200,000 Americans have already died, and more than 2 million have been seriously injured by the vaccines. Interestingly enough, Kirsch and his entire family took the COVID shot early on, so he’s not coming from an “anti-vax” position.
Ending the vaccinations would not spell disaster in terms of allowing COVID-19 to run rampant, as we now know there are safe and effective early treatment protocols that everyone can use, both at home and in the hospital. These treatments also work for all variants.
According to Kirsch, the CDC, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health are all “spreading misinformation about the vaccine versus early treatment.” In a nutshell, these agencies are saying the complete opposite of what is true - classic Orwellian doublespeak.
They claim the COVID shots are safe and effective, when the data show they’re neither, and they say there is no safe and effective early treatment, which is clearly false. At the same time, our medical freedoms are being stripped away under the guise of public health - all while an immense death toll is allowed to take place right before our eyes.
Kirsch is so confident in his analyses, he’s offered a $1 million academic grant to anyone who can show his analysis is flawed by a factor of four or more. So far, no one has stepped up to claim the prize. He’s even offered $1 million to any official willing to simply have a public debate with him about the data, and none has accepted the challenge.
As noted by Kirsch, “we’ve replaced debates as a way to settle scientific disagreements … with government-driven censorship and intimidation.” Medical recommendations are now also driven by the White House rather than medical experts and doctors themselves.

My son is in the food services and needed to get it or wear a mask for 8-10 hours working over burners and ovens. I warned him he was in the *-carditis risk group, so he requested and got aspiration, which is hit or miss over here in the US.

I read the Guardian article about this paper a couple of days ago , and I had a look at the paper but it is quite dense! I'm convinced that I had Covid toes in April 2020. I did have a bad cold that went onto my chest that I picked up in March, but it had a productive cough, and I had no "classic" covid symptoms. It's the one and only time in my life that i've had what I can only think of as chilblains, which were on 4 of the five toes on my right foot. Like really sore and itchy blisters which didn't come to a head, and it took months for them to fade away.

I believe COVID can lead to an autoimmune response very similar to vasculitis. This causes inflammation and damage to blood vessels. I suffer from this (not due to COVID) & am on immunosuppressants. This can cause damage to kidneys, lungs, hearing, eyes toes, skin. Once blood vessels are damaged by. Vasculitis they don't always recover. Steroids & immunosuppressants really help control the problem.

I have Covid toes right now! My dermatologist diagnosed it. I had been sick but tried to get better on my own. Figured it was just a cold. But it wouldn’t go away so I saw the dr and got a test. It was negative. So when I saw my dermatologist about a new issue with my toes, she said “you have Covid toes!” You either have Covid now or just had it. I told her about my negative test. She said it’s most likely out of my system but that the Covid toes proved I had it recently. It’s so painful. She gave me a cream to help my skin while I’m going through this. She said it lasts several weeks to several months. I most likely had the omicron cuz it was just in my nose and throat, symptoms hit me hard and fast. Whereas the original Covid-19 and delta hit the lungs.
