We visited Yellowstone in the first week of October 2023. While not packed with tourists, I was somewhat surprised at the large number of people visiting the park as the lodges were getting shut down. I talked with one of the park rangers who said that she thought that more people were shifting their visit to Yellowstone to the spring and fall shoulder seasons.
Yeah I could see that being true. I notice the same thing during the shoulder seasons. Still seems a good amount of people visiting. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼
Thank you, I appreciate you watching! We’ve been through a couple traffic jams as well so when it’s empty like this, it’s definitely a different experience 👍🏼
I live three hours away. Few if any Montanan's go there between around June 1 to about second week in September... This is a good time to go as the Snow hasn't hit yet but we prefer Xmas through Feb in Gardner and lots o snow through to Cooke City as you can see the wolves and other wildlife. We usually make the Gardner trip once or twice a year and West Yellowstone at least once. This time of year to about mid May are the best times before the world invades the place. We stay where we can bring the dogs. They love it too.
I agree! Being so close, it’s nice to have options throughout the year. We usually go around the same time frames. I’m hoping to go further past Cooke City and into Beartooth Pass next summer! 👍🏼
I was there this summer. Super crowded. I would love to see it off season. Thanks for sharing.
