  • It is so much fun growing watermelon in Aerogarden. It worked pretty well in Aerogarden Bounty Elite using Aerogarden nutrients. I used recommended dosage initially but stick to 5ml per 1 liter of water later on.

    So exciting! Thanks for sharing. Once I’m done growing the ground cherries, this is next.

    Pull up Christa's Garden channel, and look for a video she titled "How to hand pollinate Watermelon flowers"(6 yrs ago), and see the difference... she got a jump start on her watermelons...huge melons. One she had hanging in a sling! 😮

    Great Video! 😊 I started sugar baby watermelon in my bounty. I'm at day 49 and I have 4 baby watermelons on my plant. One the size of a golf ball and the other 3 are a little bit bigger than a quarter. 😁

      That's great progress so far. I need to try sugar baby again.

      @@aerogardenexperiments Yes, I'm quite excited about it. 😁 You should definitely give them another try. I'm going to try the golden midget next.🤞🏼 Especially after seeing your success with them.

      Did you struggle with your watermelons to produce?

    • @indoorapartmentgardener
      @indoorapartmentgardener 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@XInfinity2024Not at all! My 1st female flower popped up before I had any male flowers. However, by the next day I had male and female flowers in full bloom. I pollinated 4 total and I pinched off any new flowers. Two of them survived and are thriving. I think the capacity of the bounty can only sustain two watermelons at a time.
      I have two quick shorts on my channel showing there progress if you want to check it out. 😊

    I really enjoy watching these experiments. I would love it if you could include the EC and PH of your nutrient solution throughout the grow. That would be really helpful

    Love it! Did you trim the roots? How did the motor keep running with all the roots?

    • @aerogardenexperiments
      @aerogardenexperiments  7 месяцев назад

      No, I never touched the roots. Since it is Bounty, the chances of the roots going into the pump are a little less, but the roots went into the water sensor, and it stopped working. However, I have not been touching the system yet. Once I harvest the watermelons, I will clean the bowl. Still, I am not going to trim the roots intentionally, but they may lose some roots while cleaning.

    Try cutting the roots a little

      If you cut thee root, it will die. That is common with melon.

    Sadly, there was no clear viewing of what a male and female flower looks like.
    Camera was too far away 😢
    Cool experiment though 😎

      The female flowers has a protrusion behind the flower. The protrusion develops into the watermelon and the male flower is just a normal looking stem.
