I used to have Night Trap for the SegaCD. I compiled a list of exact times that you would need to trigger a trap in each different room for the vampires. Later in the game, there's a sequence of rooms that you need to jump to within a second of each other, in order to trigger the trap in time. I beat the game with triggering ever trap perfectly, and saving all the girls. My other SegaCD grand achievement was beating Dragon's Lair flawlessly with zero deaths. It takes 11 minutes to beat the game if you never die.
I could probably of done Night Trap writing down the times, but Dragons Lair seems to randomly decide if my inputs were A. The correct input, or B. Input at the correct time.
Another Sega CD with a female stereotype (Amy Rose) that drags it down from greatness is Sonic CD (a game which I respect more than I like. It’s graphics), and Night Trap really does feel like it has that typical misrepresentation of teenage women (re: damsels in distress and screamers in other ways), or as I’d like to call them, you guessed it, “Amy Roses”. And while it may be an offensive representation for me, I can at least understand their appeal, which in this case, is retro appeal. Ah, the mid-1990s was a time to be alive.
Garfield Kart cured my sister's heroin addiction, got me a promotion at work, helped me lose forty pounds, and will soon help me get elected city councilman.
