Most dogs are put to sleep because they aren't wanted by their family anymore. People want cute puppies. People think shelter dogs are trash dogs. People who buy a dog are usually compensating because they lack something in their lives (small penis, poor upbringing, bad personal history, etc) and a supermodel-type dog can mask (not really) those feelings of inadequacy. There are special shelters that can give you a purebred dog. English bulldogs, Rottweilers, American pittbulls, Poodles, Great Danes, Greyhounds, etc. It's really sad that breeders exist and make huge profits off of baby animals while shelters have to shuffle animals around to prolong an animals life. Or shelters try foster situations and hope the foster family adopts the animal themselves. Finally, after some time has gone by the poor dog or cat is killed because we haven't been able to take care of the animals we as a society have domesticated. Enjoy your new baby.
