The fault lies with the faculty of the dept, this harrassment must be going on in th dept from a long time by other senior batches, that's where your present seniors learnt it from. Strict rules should have been laid down that no jr1 must be doing work or rounds before a specific time period. What about the consultant on call, where was that person. Seniors get guts to do all this because they know that faculty will support them. Shame on such a Institute, it's one among the top 10 in India, and such filth is going on in the department. You did the right thing, by sharing your experience, this must go viral so that the senior batches and Faculty behave properly and not abuse new jr's just because they are overburdened.
I could gather the courage to post this just because I left the institute..I had option and before it was too late,I resigned but it's not the case with everyone..sometimes residents go through this kinda toxicity and having no option left they take steps which become headlines and many go unreported too
As a student here at IMS, I would totally say that the faculties are the sweetest here, they are cooperative... the only thing is that bullying or ragging whatever you call it used to be core culture of IMS till 2016-2017 batch something, and the JRs rn are 2016-17 mbbs joining batch. After a couple months of harsh treatment(which is not really justifiable, but it what it is), these people become the best people you can get.
Hii Dr.Shruti here ,stay strong ,I also left obg after working for 3 months and paying Hefty seat leaving penalty..because I don’t wants to end my life at that point due to inhumane behaviour from whole hell lyk department
Mam, please file a complaint . We all need to put a full stop to this shit . If younger generations like us, respond and react to the system, i’m sure this will fall down one day. You had the courage to quit and stand on your own . But many cannot do it, and that’s why there is so much suicide recently. your one complaint can make a huge difference.
When I was an intern in obgyn dept..I once saw JR1 asking JR2 if she can go back to hostel to brush her teeth and come back!! ..then and there I decided obgyn isn’t for me!!!
Feel very pain for u & u've done good from Resignation there in BHU....But try to Expose the bloody Systems by Complaining the authority... Many more Students will be suffered from them.....
UK and USA are places where one can do residency in peace. Kisi ka koyi matlab hi nahi. The reason why British ruled India is just the same. It’s a fact in India , a doctor is envious of a fellow doctor.
Be strong I also got bhu ortho but i left this year ,one senior from their topd me about the working condition Within the2-3days of it my upsc cms result also came So i left the pg and made mind to do the cms . Life is very uncertain and we have only one so live like you like
And in mbbs we taught psychiatry, mental well being . These toxic people make me realise that education doesn’t always make good people, empathetic , encouraging or understanding ones .
OMG this is worst then I could have imagined..how will I do my residency feelings sad being a pg aspirant..bro us leaving our hard earned college and seat is not solution we should complain this should change 😢
Hello... By the way congrats.... I too felt the same way... The same night duties extending upto afternoon... I resigned too... Waiting for next round... Actually felt weird but seeing there are other weirdos trying to have a normal life in PG is good...
We r humans not machines....please dont feel bad ......you r brave enough to prioritize yr mental health .... Thank you for sharing your experience 🙏 More power to you doc🙌
Well done ✅ mental health is important . But you should have exposed them because the other JR s must be suffering this cycle should stop . If we are treated badly , why cant we bring the change that no we should not treat our juniors the same way we were treated .
Maybe it's like that in many other places too and people try to normalize this toxic but it shouldn't be like this and yeah we are the ones who can bring about the change
I think u have taken a right decision.U can take some non hectic departments in the future.Even i am a medico and i know about all this toxicity clearly. All the best
The same work conditions were there in OBGYN department of my UG college. We as interns used to watch our seniors get such treatment from their JR 2 & 3. And after 2-3 months of such drama, things got better. As they learnt their work, they started cooperating too. Even I am taking OBGY in all india counseling, haven't joined yet.
This may not be true for every institute but during my internship at my institute the OBGYN R1 were the most miserable people I've seen... Their seniors would humiliate them in the middle of the ward in front of the patients, the attendees, us interns and students... Not to mention inhumane working hours... It's high time we speak up about this nonsensical toxic behaviours otherwise it'll go on forever... We cannot do anything about the workload but we can be kinder and sensible towards our colleagues and juniors.
Really grateful of u for posting this was thinking of upgrading to bhu obgy in 3rd round but better not to seeing this inhuman behavior . Lots of strength to u ❤ . Would u like sharing where did u join in the 2nd round
This work culture in medical field is ruining the entire medical ecosystem. Doctor- Patient harrasment is very common these days , everywhere be it private or government. Empathy is vanishing and everything has just become business.
More power to you❤ thanks for speaking out❤ actually government should take some actions to stop this toxicity. There should be a fixed duty hour rule for residents.
Best decision to leave such toxic college 🎉 I , myself , resigned from Paediatrics seat ( UP college ) in round 1 because of toxicity and many other issues Clinical branches everywhere are same , toxicity in every college I joined non clinical branch in round 2
Indian medical system is rotten, jr 1 and interns are supposed to do all scum work,nt much clinical exposure..i remember my hod saying residency means u stay in hospital. So one can imagine about level of work life balance and toxicity junior doctors face in medical clgs
the lack of residents is leading to all these kinda behaviour...NMC should focus on improving these rather than implementing new changes in NEET PG/MBBS curriculum every year
Thank you for sharing your experience it will help others as well as they won’t opt imsbhu gyn this toxic behaviour needs to stop now btw what you got in second round ?
Didi for gyne take peripheral clg of WB but not kolkata it's also heavily toxic...... But u can choose any medicine in Kolkata all r good ..... Really up, delhi is full of frustrations
The first thing this profession demands is empathy and compassion ..if these seniors dont have compassion towards their juniors ,how can they treat patients with compassion then ..i pity such seniors ...i wish aparichit sach hota..in jaise seniors ka krimi bojnam krdeta 😂
This is not a cycle this is motorcycle of ragging being fueled by negative people who dont know ethics and integrity also humanity principles But we ❤ your bravery of equality mam. This is called real feminism
Sadly this kind of work environment is why we have actually normalised this kind of behaviour in the PG. No point in having the tag of Central institutes when it comes at the cost of the mental health to such extent. They say that yes you will feel that that you did a mistake by being in that branch , but eventually it becomes better by couple of months or so , but thats only about workload and all , but this kind of senior authoritarianship is what actual toxicity is , like mindlessly senselessly just wanted to assert authority over someone new is just why people don't prefer Hard Core Surgical branches these days , because it might be easier to learn the actual surgery part but getting used to this kind of shitty work environment is not easy and should not be normalised
Dr Isha, your resignation and posting this video shows your lack of courage to challenge your seniors in BHU. It will not change their behaviour or the system there. Best and courageous step should be to fight against the wrongs in order to bring about the positive change in the system. You could have posted this video about inhumane conditions without resigning, to make pressure upon the system. However, even after resigning, you must take this issue with the authorities or for the intervention from GoI.
You took the right decision. The college is not worth your mental peace. The people criticizing here i have few words for you, people born in cages and grew up with chains think freedom/flying is a disease. Post mbbs i never preped for neet pg i had a horribly pathetic mbbs experience. So i worked my ass off did side gigs started my own practice struggled everyday and brick by brick expanded into a hospital. 8yrs down earning 7 figures a month. Reading resume of those people who were toxic to me😂
It's actually the JRs & SRs that makes the work culture toxic...they want to creat same environment when they had worked under their seniors. The consultants are actually good except those one or two professors like lavaniya n all. HOD is very humble...however u cound think once again as after few days it may become resolved... however all the best!
Whatever u have faced may be bcz u got ur seat from aiq & not from ip quota of Bhu itself...there is so called a non visible nexus there where outside students are harassed & students who have done their mbbs from bhu otself are given special treatment there..all these things happen bcz they want all their pg seats only to be given to their own students...
Very good decision...join good institution that keep u r mental health good... Don't run behind these big name institution....These so called big named institution have more toxicity. Pg is not end of learning...Its Beginning of learning
Some times we get poisonous peoples as senior..... especially in gynecology & surgery.... I saw one JR in aiims tried to suicide because of poisons seniors
I am from uttar pradesh and i hate to say this but UP is worst place to do your PG. Pathetic work environment. How can someone be so merciless? Bkl seniors ko jitni gaaliyan do kam hai. Luckily i changed my state in last counciling. Best decision ever made.
My mother was admitted there in 2010 and doctors prescribe medicines and injections which costs 7-8 thousand , And they didnt used single injection on my mom. And after that , we never went to BHU . They are verymuch unprofessional ... i can understand your trauma i have seen how badly they treat jr docs. My frnd worked there. All the best for future
Bhai jr1 ka govt.medical Colleged me bahut bura hal H .JR2 behave like goonde .wants to work on top of gun.but no one concern about this neither college department.niether nmc not state govt.
Do u actually believe that those or the seniors or consultants are good ppl .. lol .. india is very population dense so obv theres a lot of work .. i will never understand why these seniors act as if its jr1 fault that theres so much work .. thats the thing ppl can ratofy and get good marks but the intelligence level can still be on low side on how to behave with other ppl
Fault lies with you and this generation. You can fight and answer back your parents/siblings/relatives. But when it comes to show some courage where it is needed you guys become spineless. Just show them their place once everyone else gets the message once and for all. Don't be cowed down even once otherwise you would be cowed for life.
Let them be whatever they want.
What you can choose is your surroundings and you did it beautifully.
Thank you

Kindly don’t defend ,
The thing is Surgery, Ortho, Obgyn, Med have extremely terrible work atmosphere almost throughout India

The whole ims whether it is mbbs aur bams or bds the faculties are fucking sadistic.....i feel like trapped after taking admission here
Kindly opt for USMLE or AMC or PLAB and get yourself a better post graduation.
Aap toh dekhne me hi itni innocent lagti ho... Join some cool department and not these toxic departments.
I don’t know what seniors think of themselves. They are literally just 1-2 years early that is it. And they think that this is their achievment
After 24 hour shift ,,, next day morning I was sleeping and was called to come back to hospital to join the rounds ….
and when this continues, the work efficiency declines
Switching off phone is another option.

It is advisable to work in surgical branches for some time, before joining PG.
Where r the interns ,why is pg 1 asked to do sampling ,monitoring etc? (Just a doubt )

You should not have taken it lying down. They need rebellious people who can give them some taste of their own medicine.
