I got into raggedy ann about a year and a half ago as an adult because she gives such great hugs, and now I have more love for her than i could've possibly anticipated 😌

Oh.....I LOVED this . Heart wrenching since we have now lost him. So grateful to have this video journey of his and your beloved Raggedy Ann's. I now have a Volland Raggedy Ann and absolutely cherish her. Would love to find her an Andy but they are harder to find. I remember after his passing you acquired one or several of his beautiful dolls. So wonderful to have a piece of his heart with you always. ❤❤

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt thoughts. It's touching to know how much you cherish your Volland Raggedy Ann and the memories of the remarkable artist and friend we've lost. Finding a Raggedy Andy to accompany her would indeed be special. The dolls we collect do become treasures that hold a piece of history and heart. I'm glad you appreciate having a part of his legacy in your collection. It's these connections that make doll collecting so meaningful.

I've always had a special love for Raggedy Ann. Still have mine from when I was a kid and have since gotten a couple more. She has a much different energy than other dolls of her time and I love that. Have since stopped general doll collecting but i now specialize in Raggedies and will probably never stop:)

I just started collecting Sweet Christmas Kids. They are so awesome. I have one so far, but am on the hunt for more. I didn't know what to think of him at first, but he gives me good vibes. Your collection is great. Nice interview. His collection is awesome too.

This was a wonderful video for information, I took some notes. I have recently started researching theses dolls as a result of Rachel's presentation of the book Marcella, where she read the first chapter on you tube.
I currently have a Bedtime Raggedy Ann by Knickerbocker and a Raggedy Andy by Applause with credit to Johnny Gruelle on the tag. He is dated 1991.
I am on the hunt for the old and early ones, which will be alot of fun.
I also had a twin pair from 2000 and a 1987 Ann but I gave them to a friend today and she really liked them .
Thanks again, I so enjoyed this chat!!

How great! I am glad you are on the hunt and enjoyed our read of the book. Raggedy collecting is the best - there is so much variation and opportunity. Thanks for watching!

I love your dolls and the history is fascinating. My dolls are made by Aurora, their precious to me, and I have a Beloved Belindy pin, and some of their stories.
    This was wonderful 😍

Hi. I collect Gollywog rag dolls (sort of a black minstral doll that became popular in England at the turn of the century - illustrated in Florence Upton's books) and beyond (as Robertson's jam adopted them for their trademark). I saw an old vintage one on Ebay a few years ago made by Georgene which had their label on it as being a Raggedy Ann and Andy doll. But I've never seen them in any Raggedy Ann collections. Have either of you seen these? How many were made and why weren't they promoted? He's not a Gruelle book character, but may be related to Beloved Belindy.

In 1989 I made some novelty type Raggedies with my own spin for fun. One was a Plains type Native American, one was Seminole, one was Asian, one was black, and then there was a crazy clown one. The Asian one had almond shaped button eyes and a satin outfit with pants and tunic. The Seminole one had the traditional pieced patchwork skirt I made her. The plains Indian had a faux leather outfit with fringe. The black one had lovely little braids all over her head. The clown had an embroidered ‘painted’ clown face. I had a neighbor who realized I was a crafter ask me if I might have anything handcrafted to donate to an auction/fundraiser for her nephew who was fighting leukemia. I didn’t even hesitate. I pulled all of those raggedies sitting on the window sill of my picture window and donated them. She said those dolls were a big hit and brought more money than anything else. People all over love the warmth that a Raggedy Ann brings. When it was mentioned about people doing their own take, it made me think of this.

Hi, these are all beautiful dolls ! Question for anyone who knows... the Exposition Raggedy Ann was Johnny Gruelle's Ann, right ? .. I found a beautiful reproduction set and was just curious. I think that's what he said in the video, but to be honest, I have a lil more trouble concentrating and stuff after the last time I had covid. Thanks in advance !

Hi Rachel! I love your channel. I’ve just recently become interested in Reggedy Ann dolls. I felt nostalgic about a memory I had of one that used to be on my grandmothers guest bed. I’ve found a couple of my own, but I’m unsure of how to tell exactly how old they are. I cannot find many resources online about them! Is there any way I can get in touch with you? Maybe you would have a guess at when they were made?

Because she’s part of the Raggedy Ann series. She’s Beloved Belindy and a beloved character in the story.
