Outstanding video. Where Eagles Dare is my favourite movie of all time. I visited the castle in 2022, it was a day I will never forget. The scenery is out of this world. Thank you for sharing this video.
I liked WED. It was great fun in a silly kind of way. I especially loved those little knapsacks of theirs, each holding an inexhaustible supply of high explosives and grenades. Also the way they set tripwires across lanterns / telegraph poles which set off explosives, collapsing the poles blocking the road in front of pursuing Germans. Their crystal ball had told them that nobody would use that road while they did their mission in the castle. It was all great fun, but utterly unbelievable. At the end, the whole mission had been about identifying the British double agent(s). Daft. 😁
Beautifully done. I saw WED in the theater when first released and have had it in my collection for many years. Thanks for your efforts in tracking down so many locations used in this classic action adventure film, accompanied by Ron Goodwin's great score.
So great of you to put this together. I stayed overnight in the castle when it was a youth hostel in 1969. About.25 cents American believe it or not. The man who greeted us was dark and foreboding and had an eye patch I kid you not. And not at all friendly to young Americans. Lights out at precisely 1O PM. I had never been in a place as dark as that ever!
"Good God that nearly killed me". Absolutely incredible research. The way you zoomed in to the castle cracked me up and I love the United Artist music at the start. Very entertaining.

The officer at 35.41 onwards, is Ferdie (Ferdinand) Mayne. I thought he looked familiar. He was the vampire Count von Krolock in Polanski's "Fearless Vampire Killers." He was Jewish, but born in Germany. He left Germany as a teenager in the 1930s, to live with English relatives. He had a long career appearing in many German as well as English language movies and tv episodes. He tended to be typecast as German officers, aristocrats, vampires or all purpose dodgy foreigners. IMDB is very useful.

Awesome video! I truly enjoy seeing the experiences of others that have the same love for this movie that I do. I was just there in mid-October and tried to see as much as I could. My entire family was with me, and it was a little hard to get them to share in the obsession. But in my defense, I was able to argue that the locations selected, were selected for a reason. The scenery in all the locations is just gorgeous. There are some parts of the opening scene with the plane that I am still searching for. As the plane flies overhead in Saalfelden I lose track of its progress. It then shows up next to Bischofsmütze in the Filzmoos and I lose track of it again. One day I will find the complete path..........
Thank you so much for watching and appreciating. Your plan to find the flight path of the Junker sounds like a mission! Very cool! All i know in that reference is that the aircraft started out in the Swiss alps at Samedan airport. Good luck on your mission!
I think Spielberg loved this film as a kid and used lots of technique from it in his Indiana Jones films. Its a great great film with an out of this world cast. The kodachrome in low lights was stunning.
Very well done. Must have taken a lot of analysis to do this. Wefern and the surrounding area have changed in 56 years, but some snow, the tight angles, and some wooden structures with the right posters, and uniforms, can work wonders, particularly with Ingrid Pitt (what a disguise) involved!
