I'm pretty sure these boxes can suffer from corrupted firmware, there was a guide to the pinouts on the large connector on the board, I'll post it if I can find it again.

On the MAG322 that I repaired last week the firmware is in an 8 pin eprom. These are clearly different - but anything is worth a go
The main reasons I think it is faulty CPU on these other two are:
1: That the cpu core resistance reads different from the two good ones
2: That when I powered up the ones without a CPU fitted, they draw 200mA, and these two draw 210mA and 270mA which is very similar and suggests to me the CPU isn't even running. Good ones draw 550mA
      This i a ll supposition of course😉

@@LearnElectronicsRepair tbh I commented before seeing the whole video (or the other Mag one) in typical youtube fashion LOL. I admire your patience even though there wasn't a positive result from the venture. Keep up the good work mate!

Whether you repair something or not at least you gave out info on how to go about it and people can learn from it so it's all good and well worth a watch :)

Hi Rich, I know you dont need it and i wouldnt consider it an essential piece of equipment But! A thermal camera would make life so much easier in these cases. I would recommend the Seek thermal camera or the UNI-T UTi260B. If you buy any of these remember to buy the macro lens as well. Its really handy and it sees a lot of things your hand, ipa or freeze spray cant see.

    Great vid..thanks.
When you put IPA on the board and applied power, the regulator between the two inductors evaporated before the CPU. Was that the CPU bringing the Reg down ?

Yeah for sure - both those buck regulators were supplying the CPU with a lot of Amps so no wonder they got hot.

    are these iptvboxes still useful?
